Last week I had my 32 week ultrasound and we were relieved to learn that the little girl and boy are both growing well, still on the average weight percentile for a singleton baby (1.7kg and 1.9 kg).
The presenting twin is still breech (as she was at the 28 wk scan). The ob says I'll have a 36 wk scan to check growth and positions again, although it's highly unlikely that she'll turn from now on and there's nothing I can do to try to turn the baby as it's a twin pregnancy. So, it's likely that I'll have a c-sect at 38 weeks if not before.
I'm a bit disappointed as I had a great vaginal delivery with dd.
Does anyone know of their twin still turning after 32 weeks?
Thanks,
Libby

Hi Libby,
fantastic to hear both bubs are growing well!! That is great news

My first twin pg I had one bubs breech & the other transverse & they stayed that way for most of my pregnancy - at my 32 week scan I was told the same as you, that there was no hope of them moving - further scans showed the same & I had a caeser at 37 weeks. They both averaged 7lbs so it was pretty squishy in there!
Second time round both bubs were breech and I ended up having a caeser at 38 weeks - they were both over 7lbs & once again there was definitely no room for them to move !!
I had hoped for a natural birth both times & was (still ama little) dissapointed that this never happened, but at the end of the day two healthy bubs were my main priority. It's a shame that the presenting bubs isn't head down then they probably would have let you go for it !! You never know though, stranger things have happened and they may switch positions, who knows !!

good luck for the next couple of weeks - look forward to hearing yuor news

Hi Libby
One of my girls (#2) was transverse for most of my pregnancy. Same as Jane, when they get big there's not much room to change position! My OB said if she hadn't moved by 38 weeks he would book me in for an elective CS but we only made it to 35+1 before they wanted out.
Twin 1 was in a perfect position for VB, but I was adamant (sp?) that they were coming out the same way and my OB was equally adamant that he wasn't delivering #1 and then turning #2 manually. He reckons its a pretty yucky experience for mums and he doesn't like doing it, although some OBs will.
We monitored them for a little while when labour had started and when it was clear she hadn't moved, we went ahead with the CS.
I was glad in the end, because even that way he had quite a job getting her out - she was wedged in really well!
Best of luck, here's hoping she manages to shove big brother out of the way and turn on her own for you.

Hi Libby
One of my boys was breech and turned in between my 34 week and 37 week scan. So it can happen! I ended up having a emergency c-section anyhow but it was great to have the chance to have a go at a normal labour!
Good luck and keep us all posted, i know how excited you must be!

Hi Libby
Well done on such healthy weights. I was told the same thing but our breech twin turned at 35 weeks, so it's very possible!
I was booked in for a caesar at 37 weeks (which I still went ahead with), but went into labour a few days before the agreed date and was given the option of a vaginal delivery if I had wanted one.

Never say never I say! I had my boys at 38w5days and was having 2nd daily visits at the end.....Cam did his last turn at exactly 38weeks from head down to breech.....he was 7lb 10 oz (3.5kg/53cm) and his brother Joel 7ob 6 oz (3.3kg/51cm)......so although unlikely it can definitely happen even with big babies.
PS my elective c-section was the most amazing and special experience! Good luck

Hello All,
I am totally unqualified to answer this as my twins are still snuggled up inside!
However, at my antenatal yoga class the other day, they showed us a pose that apparently can help encourage babies to turn.
Mum gets on all fours and arches her back up and then relaxes it again for a few minutes. If this is done a couple of times a day (only for as long as is comfortable) we were told that it can encourage bubs to turn.
I guess check with your doc!
Cheers,
Kate

Hi, A few of my friends and my sis have all done this yoga pose and all the bubs turned round. But dont know about anyone with twins.. Mine were transverse most of the pregnancy the went one up one down by 34 weeks. My OB wouldn't let me try natural if one was still breech so in for the c/s we went..
Good luck Rebecca. Mum to Amber & Olivia 08/05/03

Thanks so much for your replies. Although my ob said it's very unlikely that the presenting twin will turn from now on, from your experiences, it certainly is possible!
It's a little tricky though, as I'm preparing myself mentally for a c-sect, but I need to still be open minded about a natural delivery if Twin 1 does turn. My ob is happy to allow a vaginal delivery if the presenting twin is head down, even if the 2nd twin is breech. I spoke to the ob about yoga positions etc to encourage turning and she said they're only helpful for singletons where there's the room for baby to move. Anyway, I'm sure I'd pass out if I tried to contort myself or be on all fours. I have trouble breathing as I roll over in bed!
Thanks for sharing your experiences

Firstly Congratulations Libby!! Boy/Girl for you too!!! Hayden was Twin I for us and was engaged in the frank breech position! Little darling he is.....He was all ready to go at 34 weeks and there was absolutly no room for him to turn or to allow Brooklen room either, she was flex breech. My Ceaser was booked in for 37+1 and we made it there....It was alot to get my head around as it wasnt what I had in mind IYKWIM, but what is best for the babies is what is best for you also.
I loved the proceedure and wouldnt change it for the world, I also had a very large team of dr's, nurses and pead's that I knew and loved. Hayden and Brooklen both came straight back into the ward with me and needed no assistance at all.
Keep on incubating! You are doing a wonderful job and like so many twin mums told me the extra weeks make such a difference and RELAX!!!!!
Cant wait to see pics of your little darlings!!
