I find it so amazing that so many states in Australia have playgrounds out in the open sun w/ no protection for the kids.

I also find it extremely frustrating that there are not enough swings for the little ones and my girls are ALWAYS fighting over who gets to have a swing and try to throw other kids out so they can get on.

I am extremely greatful to the parents who happily try to assist us and take their kids off to other play equipment but the swings really irritate me no end at all -especially when there are 2 of them & only 1 swing!!

There can occasionally be an upside to playgrounds in that when I am having a bad day other parents can sympathise w/ me and let me rave then generally offer helpful advice, especially when they have 2 yr olds themselves. I've seen the occasional tears of frustration but feel better knowing there is someone else out there w/ the same problem or worse.

I have written here about my 2 girls of late and their shocking behaviour.

2 suggestions I was given about Jas was that we should worm her, that's play grounds for you!!

Parents compared their kids to Jas' and advised that their kids quietened down immensely..I can hardly wait!! LOL. although she has quietened down the last few days which has definately brought our frustration levels down.

Sorry to rave but what does everyone else think about our playgrounds??

[color=Teal]Oh, I agree about the playground situation. I mean, I'm happy for the boys to play out in the sun from time to time, but when they spend so much time playing, it would be preferable if there were some sort of shade cloth over at least part of the playground. We have a little playground within walking distance from us, and thankfully there's a lovely big tree that shades it, but other playgrounds in the area don't have any shade.

The other thing that would be good is if more playgrounds had a fenced off area. We have a fabulous playground nearby, but it's very open and I can't take the boys their on my own as I'm terrified they're going to run off.

So, there's my 2 cents worth! ;p

We have been lucky enough to finally get our playground shelted after many years of petitions and begging council they finally got a sport and rec grant. Now we are trying to get a fence the P/G is not far from a creek and a road I guess that will be another few years yet It sure is hard when one goes one way and the other few are going some where else sure should be interesting when the other two are up and running.
The swings are very popular amongst my group of friends It has been threatened by more then one mum to come down during the night with some bolt cutters LOL

Isn't it strange how there has been so much emphasis placed on being sunsafe and yet local councils/govs are so far behind the times, and playgrounds are so exposed. I know we should all slip slop slap, but even just somewhere shady to sit would nice!!!! I also agree that more playgrounds should be fenced. We aren't quite up to the playground stage yet, but even taking one toddler to the playground was a challenge sometimes, I can't imagine two running everywhich way!!! They always seem to put playgrounds near to busy roads...I know they need to be where people can access them, but a little more thought sometimes wouldn't go astray and safety fences would go along way to helping harried parents, at least you can let them run wild within reason!!!! I know we grew up without fences etc, but lets face it life was alot simpler!!!!

I have a local playground gripe, which I really must write to my local council about, and hopefully get it fixed before my girls are playground ready. We have quite a nice little playground nearby, but they have built it up about 30cm from ground level with sleepers, so kids have to step up and down to access it. I think it's really quite dangerous, and quite honestly can't see the benefit of it at all??? Also the sleepers are starting to break up and come apart at the joints, sot here are cracks and crevices to catch little fingers and get shoes caught in...it just seems so silly in a kids playground!!!
