Thumps up for pillows!!
I had a similar dilemma.
My guys were moving all around the cot, one night I found Dylan on his bellie, facing the end of his cot only inches away from heading under the blankets and scared the C**p out of me!!
I too had read the brochures about SIDS but felt the best way to avoid the above situation was to put a pillow
Under the fitted sheet in the cot so they can't get over it, under it, wedged anywhere.
I am pleased to say they slept through for the first time the next night and I haven't had any troubles, they eventually get a little head spot in the pillow and settle much more easily.
Hamish has a tendancy to sleep on his belly also and because the pillow is under the sheet it hold it fairly firm and flat so no smothering.
there my 2 cents worth.
Decide what works for you.
