(lets try that again, dont think the origial post went through)

Hi everyone,

I was wondering at what age did you give pillows? My twins are only 6 and a half month but was wondering if giving them a pillow might help with their sleeping.

They are really restless sleepers waking around twice a night each and move all around the cot. Was wondering if giving them a pillow may help.

Has anyone else had similar experiences?

My girls are 10 1/2 months and I was wondering the same thing as Charlotte tends to sleep with her head resting on her teddy bear and i'm sure a pillow would be more comfortable, but others have said to hold off for as long as possible, not sure why, can only think of sids or maybe posture?

Hi guys,

We gave the girls pillows at about 18 months, they are really falt ones, they are quite hard to find, but I ended up getting them from David Jones, they are about $25. It did help they sleep up the right way for a while, but now sophie just pulls hers down to the other end of the cot and sleeps upside down anyway!!

Not sure if 6 months is a bit too young, incase they get wedged between the pillow and the side of the cot, but as I said the ones that I have are only a few centimetres thick.

Cheers

No_idea!
[color=Teal]I'm so glad you asked this question Ali! I'd been wondering the same thing.

Our boys are 21 months old and have never had a pillow. They've never seemed to really want or need one, but as they'll be moving into big beds in the next few months I guess I'll need to start thinking about it.

Hi everyone

I was reading about this recently in a SIDS brochure- they recommended no pillow (or anything else in cot really) until 12 months of age.

Cheers

We didn't give pillows to our three until they moved into their big beds which was when they were just over 2 years old.

Thumps up for pillows!!

I had a similar dilemma.
My guys were moving all around the cot, one night I found Dylan on his bellie, facing the end of his cot only inches away from heading under the blankets and scared the C**p out of me!!

I too had read the brochures about SIDS but felt the best way to avoid the above situation was to put a pillow Under the fitted sheet in the cot so they can't get over it, under it, wedged anywhere.

I am pleased to say they slept through for the first time the next night and I haven't had any troubles, they eventually get a little head spot in the pillow and settle much more easily.

Hamish has a tendancy to sleep on his belly also and because the pillow is under the sheet it hold it fairly firm and flat so no smothering.

there my 2 cents worth.

Decide what works for you.

Under the sheet is a great idea. I might give that a try.

Willing to try anything at this stage

Thanks

I think my boys were about 13 months old when I first gave them a pillow, mainly because Jackson was always quite snuffly and I thought raising his head a little would help. I was forever checking onthem though, so worried that one would end up under the pillow! I wish I had thought of putting the pillow under the sheet - what a great idea!! I'll be putting that one in my memory bank for when Ella & Liam are ready for a pillow!! original.gif
