Good Evening ~ We were just wondering if anyone else that had either 1 or both twins breech, were told they had dislocated or "clicky hips"?

Hayden was twin 1 and he was Frank Breech, little darling is slowly getting the frog legs to come down! Brooklen was flex breech and her peadiatrician also documents "clicky hips" they are booked in for an x-ray and ultrasound next week to check this problem.

Two of my friends have had breech babies within 2 weeks of Hayden and Brooklen and we are all going for the same tests....did any one have this with their children? If so what was the outcome???

Thanks in advance! Get a little worried about all the little tests that need to be completed, also have the 6 week needles soon - I am such a sooky la la!

Hayley,

My Ob does these tests on all breech babies he delivers just to be sure I don't know how common it is but out of the ten sets of twins i know they all tests and no one had it. Hope this helps

Congrats on the birth of your precious bundles and enjoy. By the way was wondering if by any chance you may have come across Bree (trying for first three) and wondered if she had had her babies as she was due the same day as you. If you hear about her please let us know I am sure alot of us would love to know.

Anyway take care

Hi Hayley
Yes our little Tiahna was born breech. We has to take her to PMH for an ultrasound to check her hips. She was fine. No clicking. We also had to take her back at about 22weeks for another check up just to make sure. It is all proceedure for breech babies.
Hope all goes well.

Firstly, congratulations! Also, sorry this is kind of long.

My two were both breech and were checked (while in special care) by three different doctors (neonatologists) who all said they felt no clicking. But, one of them wanted to make sure and sent them for ultrasounds at the public hospital next door. We were a bit horrified when the results came back and they weren't good. Then we took them to our paediatrician and he sent us for more ultrasounds (at a place where they only do children) as he doubted the first ones were accurate. The second results were good, but still needed follow up (growth?) scans a few weeks later. Those were good too.

Like Jodi (twinoski) said, I think it is standard procedure for breech babies. I also vaguely remember being told that girls are more susceptible. It is very scary in the beginning having so many tests and doctors appointments, but it is good to check these things early. I hope it all goes well for your babies!

Jake was born breech with a clicky hip. His hip was slightly dislocated when he was born. This got better day by day while we were in hospital but was still clicking at our 6 week pediatric appointment. We were send for an ultrasound and his hip was fine, no problem at all. He still likes to lay on his back with his legs up in the air, its quite funny.

My niece was born with a clicky hip, she was put in a frog brace for 6 weeks, not too nice on mum at first but it didnt bother baby one bit. She was fine after the six weeks. She Walked at 1 and is fine now 2 and you wouldnt know anything.

I think the best thing is to get her tested early and get treated as soon as possible. Dont wait, dont let them put you off too long, it will be harder to get a 6 or 9 month old to stay in a brace (if needed) than a baby. It will be hard on you if she does need treatment but even harder if it is left longer and then treated.

Good luck and stay positive, if she does need treatment it is only for a few short weeks and she will not remember a thing.

Thanks ladies! you have all made me feel so reassured that it will be fine and is such a common problem with breech babies. I am sure we will be fine - its so daunting.

Will keep you posted on the news - we go on Friday Arvo...after we meet up with some Kalgoorlie EB girls! Thanks again! I really appreciate it.

Crocks - I am sorry I only know that there was a lady that was flown to perth with major twin complications on the day I went it...not too sure if that was Bree? But I will keep an ear out - I am sure she will get in touch. She possibly misses you guys as much as you miss her.
