Our boys (who are 21 months old today!) have been using high chairs for a long time now, and unfortunately Kai's been able to climb out of his for the past few months (even with the 5 point safety harness system!).

I was just wondering at around what age you guys put your kids into booster seats, and what sort of booster seats do you have and do you find them to be good?!?!

The boys are getting to the stage where they can physically sit at a chair easily, but it's keeping them there that's the problem! ;p

Any ideas would be great!

Hi Vanessa,

I have had my boys at a table and chairs since they were about the same age as your boys and found that after persisting and making them sit at a table (and alot of it LOL) they did and loved it.

they would scream going into the high chair so i told them to sit at the table and they didn't have to sit in the chair and they thought it was great and If they didn't sit I would go and put them back in the high chair and eventually they learnt.

Hope it works out for you but alot of mums use the booster seats and think they are great ,it's whatever works for you we do whatever we can to stay sane LOL

Hi, My boys have been sitting at the table for about 4mths now. Their highchair table bit comes off and we slide them under.

We attach them with our walking harnesses as the highchairs didn't have a harness. I have also used the harnesses at my Mums to sit in normal dining chairs on the yellow pages and it worked a treat to keep them still. Mine can also get out of 5pt harnesses but find the walking ones harder.

Just a thought.

For us it now means we have portable highchairs. IYKWIM

Hi Vanessa,

The five point safety staps didn't stop my three from climbing out of the highchairs either! I think my guys were about 2 when we got fed up with them escaping the highchairs and moved them to the table. We never actually used boosters, we just put them straight onto the dining chairs with a cushion on top. I agree with Kristy, the only way we were able to get the kids to stay at the table was with persistance.

Hi Vanessa, our kids sit in Safety First plastic booster seats. We use the trays or push them up to the table. My boys can get themselves in and out of these chairs if the saefty belt isn't clipped (which we no longer bother with) but my daughter sits in hers with the belt clipped shut. I got scared with my daughter trying to climb out of her high chair but we've never had a problem with these booster seats. It's been great because they stay in their seats until we say they can get down. The boys sit on normal dining chairs whenever we're not at home but have never thought to do this at home... they always sit in "their chairs". I'm fine with this as it's easier for me to have them in their booster seats and so less likely to wander around before they've finished their meal. Truth be told I'm a little surprised as it seems they're too old for these seats but I haven't wanted to change it as it's working for us.
Best of luck with it all,
Maycee

We bought a little table and chairs and my girls sit at that together and eat their dinner.

[color=Teal]Thanks so much everyone for your posts. It's given me some ideas. I guess it's all about trial and error! Our two are slippery little suckers, and aren't too good at sitting still, but I think it's about time they started learning to! Tounge1.gif

Thanks again.
