Hi there!

Our two favourite girl names atm are Felicity and Esme and I was hoping you could offer me some middle name suggestions!

So far, we have:

Felicity Kate Pickard

Esme Violet Pickard

My DP suggested Violet as a mn choice and the only issue I have with " Violet" is that for some reason I can't help but notice how close it is to the world "Violent" and it throws me a little when I see it. unsure.gif Any others get this vibe??

Felicity is a lovely name, but Esme is terribly outdated IMO.

Some middle name suggestions could be:

Felicity Grace
Felicity Estelle
Felicity Maeve
Felicity Isabelle
Felicity Rose
Felicity Millicent
Felicity Hope
Felicity Clementine
Felicity Mabel
Felicity Elise

Esme Joy
Esme Lucinda
Esme Olive
Esme Frances
Esme Phoebe
Esme Iris
Esme Pearl
Esme Ivy
Esme Rosalind
Esme Harriet

I think Violet is lovely and I never think of violent when I see or hear it. Not that it's that bad, but I'd be more worried about Felicity with your surname and nicknames like Flick Pick etc than about Violet looking similar to violent.

Suggestions:
Felicity Isabelle Pickard
Felicity Imogen Pickard
Felicity Sarah Pickard
Felicity Annabelle Pickard
Felicity Georgette Pickard
Felicity Harriet Pickard
Felicity Eloise Pickard
Felicity Josephine Pickard
Felicity Claire Pickard
Felicity Erin Pickard
Felicity Iris Pickard
Felicity Alice Pickard
Felicity Yasmin Pickard
Felicity Hannah Pickard
Felicity Juliette Pickard
Felicity Annaliese Pickard
Felicity Katherine Pickard
Felicity Adelaide Pickard
Felicity Madeleine Pickard
Felicity Jemima Pickard
Felicity Alexandra Pickard

Esme Natalia Pickard
Esme Amelia Pickard
Esme Louisa Pickard
Esme Seraphina Pickard
Esme Philippa Pickard
Esme Josephine Pickard
Esme Bethany Pickard
Esme Gabriella Pickard
Esme Lucinda Pickard
Esme Susannah Pickard
Esme Harriet Pickard
Esme Charlotte Pickard
Esme Scarlett Pickard
Esme Rosetta Pickard
Esme Katherine Pickard
Esme Genevieve Pickard
Esme Helena Pickard
Esme Yolanda Pickard
Esme Abigail Pickard
Esme Miranda Pickard
Esme Claudia Pickard
Esme Sophie/Sophia Pickard

ETA: Seeing the previous person gave their opinion on the names, I'll give mine. I much prefer Esme although it's definitely not a favourite of mine. Felicity is a name I've never liked but I don't really know why.

my daughter is a felicity and she gets many comments of how its pretty and not very heard of anymore.

I prefer Felicity to Esme. I used to think of Esme as an old ladies' name (probably because of A Country Practice) but it seems to be making a resurgence now - possibly thanks to Twilight.

I would never think of Violet = violent!

Esme is gorgeous.

Esme Violet is just wub.gif

I don't like Felicity. It's in the Tiffany, Brittany etc camp for me.

agreed. I dont think Felicity has great nn's Flick or Flea... hhhmmm nno.gif

I think Esme Violet is very nice.

I don't like Esme because it will always sound like an old fashioned name to me. Maybe it would be nice as a mn?

Felicity is pretty I think, but you have to think how it will go with your surname - especially if/when nicknames like Flick are used.

Middle names dedicated to family are always good choices IMO - eg: your or your DH's mother's or grandmother's name as a MN.

Violet is a lovely name for a little girl and seems to have made a come back in popularity. It is a nice middle name but I'd be careful with how it sounds with the first name. I don't think it goes with Felicity but it goes nicely with Esme. Possibly Violet Esme or Esme Violet is nice. A

Other nice middle names for girls are IMO:
Jane, Rose, Anne, Elizabeth. Most one syllable mn will go well with anything but you have to be careful with longer mns I think.

Betty

Love Felicity. Not a fan of Esme at all. Neither Violet nor Kate are particularly exciting for me even for MN's. I think Felicity goes very well with the surname.

I would love Felicity Ruth Pickard.

the nicknames my daughter gets the most are flip.flick and fliss

Esme Violet is lovely, I don't get the violent association. I quite like Felicity Kate.
~THE~MAGICIAN~
Felicity Kate is a firm favourite of mine!

Felicity Annabel
Felicity Jade
Felicity Grace
Felicity Zara

Not fussed on either Esme or Violet sorry.

I have always thought Violent when seeing Violet. I don't like it for that reason.

If I had to choose I'd definitely pick Felicity over Esme. I just don't like Esme at all.
Bel Rowley
How about Esme Felicity?

I think Esme Violet is lovely wub.gif

I've never really been a fan of Felicity, and have never noticed the violent connection either.

I sure do. I really can't stand the name Violet, it's very close to violent, only one letter different.

I think Felicity Kate is very nice.

MnM
Awww they are gorgeous names wub.gif

DD was very nearly going to be Esme Grace.

Violet doesn't make me think at all of violent.

I am Felicity Grace and these are nicknames I have been given, though most commonly Fliss (other than a family NN unrelated to the name, which I get 80% of the time). I heard a little girl (about 1yo) being called Felicity at the kids swim school recently and thought that it is a name not heard of much now. I think it is a lovely name, meaning "happiness".

Not a fan of Esme, but don't hate it, but LOVE Violet.

Have fun deciding!!

Felicity.

Yep I see Violent everytime too and the reason I really dislike the name

Love Felicity Kate and Blondiebear's suggestion of Esme Felicity is quite nice
chubba_bubba

Esme reminds me of the character in The Emperor's New Groove biggrin.gif

ponky
I am a Felicity Jane and of course I am biased and love my name.

I get the same nick names eg fliss or flip

I also think of Esme Watson(Country Practice) when I hear this name. Sorry
