Big Green Frog and 6 tadpoles

Hi
I was just wondering what birth weight everyones twins were.
I had my twins last September in a small country town hospital and all the stuff including the doctors were surprised at how heavy both my boys were born.
Darcy Allen 7pounds 1 ounce
and
Kane Gilbert 7pounds 2 ounces
Is this not normal?
Thay were born at 38.5 weeks C/S, I think if they had of let me go I would have carried full term, but they all got sick of me crying and complaining at every appointment!! I had enough!!!! So who knows how big they would have got.
When we had a scan done at about 25 weeks at the Mater hospital in Brisbane they were surprised then at their weight and size and said they were above average for a single birth let alone two.
Just interested to hear from all you twin mums just to get an idea of other twin weights.
THANKS
Wems

Hi,
Even for a singleton that would be a great weight but for twinnies it is exceptional. WELLDONE. My girls were born weighing 6lb10 and 6lb 13oz and I thought I had it hard. I had to be induced at 38weeks and 5 days because like you the pain, crying etc... just got too much. I think my girls would have taken me all the way too.
Just a quick question SUPERMUM how do you handle having your children as close as you have. Do you think it is easier to have them closer?
My girls were born last September as well.
have a lovely day

Hi Wems
I carried my two little guys til 39 weeks 1 day, when i was induced and have an emergency c/section. I think that i would have carried them over if they hadn't induced me..
Aidan was 6pds 11 and Keenan was 6 pds 10.. I nearly fell over when i saw them because my doctor was predicting that Keenan was a bit smaller than Aidan.. but as you can see he wasn't!

I don't know about SUPERMUM maybe STUPIDMUM
No its great the older three all play well together most of the time lets face it they are kids. Everyone asks how I do it? And I just say well they have to be loved fed and cleaned so it just gets done. But as all my close friends have discovered when they have visited. We definiately don't live in a SHOW HOME. ;p
It is well and truly lived in, the beds don't get made, some days it takes a while for the clothes to get hung out etc. But we are all happy and all my kids are loved so what about the house! Before I had all the kids if someone had come to my house and saw it in such a mess I would have died but that all went out the window when I was pregnant with the twins I couldn't do it so someone else had to some time when they got around to it.
Your girls were pretty big too.
Enjoy them now they all grow up so fast my first goes to school next year I can't believe it

Hi,
WOW, I thought my girls were a good size weighing 5lb9 and 5lb11. They were born at 36.5 weeks, i often wonder how much they would have grown in the last couple weeks. Not that i could have possibly gotten any biiger, i was about to burst as it was.
twinoski & wems, were your twins identical?
just wondering because there weights are so similar. The midwives told me that more often than not, twins have a far difference in their birth weight.

Hi-my boys were born at 38.5w elective csection also. They were big like yours-Joel 7lb6oz and Cam 7lb10oz (51 and 53cm long).
A girl at work has just had twins as well and hers were 6lb10oz and 7lb13oz.
Cheers

ok say my twins weren't anything that far off the scale
cmf I don't know how you did it carrying my boys around was bad enough
All through my pregnancy the doctors thought the boys were identical, even having scans to make sure they were both gaining weight. Once they were born none of the doctors would never tell me if they were or not. But now as they are getting older they are easy to tell apart. Plenty of our friends and family still say they can't tell them apart though.
Its great to see all these dates nearly to term and such healthy sized twin babies!

Cheers

Hi Wems
I am curious to know what their estimated weight was at the 25 week scan- do you happen to remember? I am just at that point and my boys are estimated to be around 900g each.
Thanks

Mine two were born at 39 weeks, c-section.
Kyle - 8 lbs
Nicole - 7 lb 9 oz
Beautiful big babies.

My eldest was 8 lb 9, so they were't that far off.
I was begging my gp to take the kids out at 36-37 weeks. We knew I had bigguns. My gp agreed (country town he was delivering), the hospital paed agreed, but the hospital ob assisting my dr said no, said it was too early. So I had to wait. God I was in agony by the time 39 weeks came around.

Hi Ladies!
I was suprised at our babies weights ~ As i was not all that big really. I only popped right out in the last two weeks.
Hayden Phillip ~ 2550grams (5lb 10oz)Twin A
Brooklen Lily ~ 3035grams (6lb 11oz) Twin B
Delivered at 37 weeks and 1 day! I was so proud of myself to get there all happy and safe. No M/S and no problems medically, perfect pregnancy and absolutly perfect delivery also in a country town.
Hayden suffered with dramatic weight loss after birth but is making up for it now and almost caught up to his sister!

My girls were born at 37 weeks 1 day (I was induced). Harriet was 2740 grams (6 lbs) and Eleanor was 2660 grams (5lb 14oz). They've always been within about 100 grams of each other since birth.

Wow, that is amazing! It will be really interesting to see what weight my boys end up being born at. I really hope to get to 37 weeks for their sake (but I am sure I will be over it well and truly by then!!)

I'm with you Justine, in the minority, doing things early! All you ladies are champions for carrying your twins so well and such good weights! My boys came early at 33 weeks via c/s. Jackson 4p 15 (2240g) and Hayden 4p 13 (2180g) at 47 and 47.5cm respectively. Now at 15 months are a hefty 11.9kg & 11.8kg and 80 & 82cm.
Lindy, I checked my 27 week scan and my boys were scanned to be approx Twin 1 1050g and Twin 2 1100g. Keep up the good work, hope you can make your 37 week goal.

Hi Wems,
I still think you are a supermum!!!!!!!!
what a wonderful outlook you have. I think your children are very lucky to have a Mum like you.

It has been so interesting to see how big everyones bubs are. Some were big bubs. Welldone to all you Mums carrying such great weights.
Princesstwins : our girls names are similar. I get heaps of comments about Tiahna's name though. My girls are fraternal although everyone says they look so alike. Their weight never really changed too much between them. They are still only a few grams apart.
Hope you all enjoy your long weekend

My two were born naturally and drug free at 35 weeks and 5 days.
Joe weighed in at 5lbs 13ozs and Scarlett at 5lbs exactly...so kinda small in comparison to most of you!
They were expected to be bigger though due to my gestational diabetes but I obviously had the diabetes well under control as it didn't effect them at all!
