Hi I was just wondering how early everyone found out/had a feeling they were having twins? Symptoms etc?
BusyB
We found out at 6 weeks 4 days. I was having a scan b/c they didn't think I was even PG! Just to see if I was Pg or not & we got to see 2 little heartbeats.

JaneMc
my first time I didn't find out until the 18 week scan but sort of had a feeling (can't describe it, just kind of knew) that it might be twins...... I did have really bad morning sickness & was larger than normal for dates leading up to the scan.

The second time the start of my pregnancy was almost identical to the first so we had an idea it might be twins again & it was confirmed at a 13 week scan that I requested because I wanted to know if it was twins again !!

We found out at 6w3d at a dating scan. The sonographer thought there was only one at first. Then she had a look around - to check my ovaries etc and found a second heartbeat. We were shocked but very happy original.gif
I have had almost no m/s at all, very different from my first 2 pregnancies.

Found out at 12 weeks on my first OB visit when I said I'd like to see the heartbeat - "well", he said, "there's the heartbeat, but what's that?"..... DH's face was a picture as he told us there were 2 - lucky I was lying down.

My girls are identical and no family history of twins but the week before I had a weird thought about how I would fit a double buggy up our steps.

Was pleased when I found out it was twins as it gave me a reason for being soooooooooo tired.

Hi ~ We found out we were blessed with twins by the 5-6 week ultrasound. My HCG levels were really high and the Doctor orignally thought it was triplets!
I had no morning sickness at all - not a single vomit through the whole pregnancy. Just one of the lucky ones on that side of it.
All the best!

No_idea!
[color=Teal]I had a scan at 6 weeks and 6 days, and it showed there were triplets! Unfortunately I lost one just before the 12 week mark. I suffered from terrible morning sickness, and felt very nauseated throughout the scan, and especially afterwards when we were told there were 3 babies!! Tounge1.gif

I had a BT at exactly 4 weeks and asked the doc (my GP) to check my hcg levels. They came back at 890 which was more than double the normal maximum amount for 4 weeks. Being the analyst that I am and knowing that twins do run in my family I asked my GP if she thought it could mean twins. My GP fobbed me off (as it turns it my GP was actually more worried about it being a molar pregnancy as that level was even very high for twins). Then at 5 weeks SEVERE morning sickness kicked in (I'm still struggling with it) and I got a bit more suss and was egged on by everyone on EB - joking that perhaps there were two heads instead of just one. Still! I didn't believe it could be possible. Then at 8w 2d I saw my Obstetrician and asked for a scan (even with my high hcg levels and severe m/s my Ob didn't suspect twins) and my Ob spotted two sacs straight away and upon a closer look there were two little bubs in separate sacs with separate placentas with two little heartbeats! They are very naughty little babies though and currently spend all their time in their separate naughty corners!! (cause they make their mummy so sick).

Good luck wink.gif

I found out i was having twins at 16 weeks, at the same time i found out i was pregnant!! huge shock to say the least but i wouldn't have it any other way.

We found out at 6w2d when I went to the Dr after some really bad abdominal pains in the night. I feared the worst but the Dr thought it was probably just the corpus luteum "popping" (holy cow it hurt tho'!).

The Dr suggested doing a u/s just to put my mind at ease so i nipped across the hall to the u/s lady who took one look at the screen and said "well, you've got a bonus there!". I burst into tears - happy of course, but couldn't believe my eyes. Clear as a bell, you could see two little sacs and two little hearbeats!

DH was in his car driving to golf when i rang and told him and he nearly drove off the road! He's thrilled now though. He too thinks it's to do with his extreme masculinity :-)

U/S at 10 weeks showed them waving their little arms and legs around like mad and we are looking forward to seeing them again at the 13 week N/T scan.

We are presently wrapped up in tearing around car yards trying to find something that will fit a twin buggy in the back....

Cheers,

Kate

We found out at the 12-week scan.
I had originally had a scan done with a smaller ultrasound machine in my OB's office at 8 weeks and there appeared to be only 1 heartbeat then. So a shock at 12 weeks!

Funnily enough, my SIL told our family before we did that she was pregnant too and jokingly said she thought it might be twins because she had such bad m/s (turns out it wasn't twins for her). When we told the family it WAS twins for us, we had to prove it by sending the ultrasound pic because they didn't believe us at first!

I'd just been on a relaxing 10 day holiday in Port Douglas. I'd been having pain on my left side so went to the Dr who thought it was a cyst. Some cyst...it was another baby. I was 12.6weeks.

I had a feeling straight away that I was having twins - can't explain it, just intuition I guess. But I put it out of my brain when my gp could only hear one heartbeat. 18 week scan came around and lo and behold there's two in there. Needless to say my gp was very surprised when I told him - so was hubby. original.gif

My GP joked when I went to see him at 5 weeks for severe m/s that I might have twins. I promptly told him no not me. We had an ultrasound at 7 weeks by my OB and there they were-2 heartbeats! Makes you understand a bit better why your feeling soooo bad! But so worth it - twins are the best!

We found out we were carrying triplets at 6wk 4 days.

I had originally had some spotting & cramping & thought I was going to miscarry so we had our scan & we asked if the baby was still alive & they said "Theres a heartbeat.........ACTUALLY THERE'S THREE" :gasp:

I had a scan at about 12 weeks along at my booking in appointment as I told them I wasn't sure of my dates. I was feeling very worried about something being wrong as I didn't feel pregnant at all. I knew things must be okay as the first button on my button-fly jeans flew across the bathroom at 8 weeks and the second button went at 12 weeks. I also didn't have any morning sickness..was just tired.
My DH actually worked out first that there were two on screen before it clicked on me. When the sonographer said "there's your baby there..and there's the other one" I just started laughing and saying "no way!"

Best moment of my life though!

We found out at 9 1/2 weeks. I was admitted to hospital with severe abdominal pain and dehydration and was put on a drip to restore my fluids. We had been overseas and I had picked up a stomach bug and also had severe morning sickness, so wasn't eating or drinking for weeks. I lost 5kgs in 2 weeks! While in hospital, they were conducting an ultrasound on my organs to see if I had gallstones etc (reason for the abdominal pain). The sonographer said "let's do one on the baby as well" she then asked "have you had an ultrasound before" I said "Yes, 2 weeks prior" (my gyno wanted to confirm the pregnancy before I went o/s) and she said "So you know there's two here then" and I reponded "No!". I was on my own as DH had gone home for dinner as he had been with me all day. Boy was it fun telling my family when they visited me in hospital that night!

Found out at 9wk5d & 9wk6d(olivia was always a day behind amber) Gp had found a small lump in my breast and i'd had some spottting so off for an ultrasound. Luckily my best friend insisted she come with me. cause the doc saying" yep there's the 1st baby" o my god " there's the second baby" came as a shock. We went straight to the nearest bar for an orange juice. Very memorable day...

We found out at 13 weeks. I had very little m/s but my OB recommended the Downs' Syndrome test and I just wanted to see our baby so I agreed! DH told the sonographer that we hadn't told anyone we were pregnant yet in case it had two heads and she said "well actually, I might just stop you there...".

We couldn't stop giggling like a couple of idiots all the way out of the hospital and to the car. When we got in the car DH said "I don't think I can drive home" to which I replied, "well you had better because I've got to pee!"

It was the day before our first anniversary and we spent most of it staring at each other and giggling because we were in complete shock. There's no history of twins in our families so the thought hadn't even crossed our minds.

We found out at 13 weeks scan although I was having dreams about doctor surgeries and x-rays showing 2 faces.

I also thought it odd that I could feel my uterus at 12 weeks. MIL told me "matter of factly" that girls my age always think they are showing the day the know they are pregnant"

It felt sooooo good to prove her wrong!! original.gif
