Howdy all,
Need some advice from some more experienced people. Have twins on the way and just purchased the Mountain Buggy Twin pram. Only problem so far is that the missus drive a Dihatsu Sirion, probably the smallest car ever made, so we need to get her some new wheels.

The question then is what sort of cars do you have and with what sort of prams? Especially the mountain buggy !! Space with these twin prams is a necessity!!

Cheers

Welcome Tim & DH,
We now have another guy on the twins & multiples pages which is great to see. We now drive a VT 2000 Commodore Station wagon which we find suits us well. Plenty of room for car seats, drives like our previous sedan and lots of boot space. We have the Love n Care Sporty Twin Jogger (but have to admit I am waiting patiently till the new Steelcraft twin jogger arrives in Aust in Early May!!!) and fits in & room for the shopping etc.

A few of the other mums here have the Mountain Buggy twin pram so I'm sure they will be able to tell you about their cars and how much they love their pram!

Hope that helps

Hi,
Welcome and Congratulations to you!! How exciting...

Our little precious bundles are almost 4 weeks and we have a WH Holden Statesman. It has so much room in the back for the two car seats and a slim 15 year old! LOL, the boot is a great size but the Valco Twin runabout is a squeeze in there! We have the Childcare twin shopper stroller that lives in the boot and the twin jogger is for walking and only goes in the boot if we need them to be comfortable and in there for a long time.

All the best - I am sure that no matter what car you have there will never be 'quiet' enough room all the time LOL

Hi Tim,
My wife & I had twin boys in November last year. My wife had a Toyota Corolla which we sold to buy a Volvo V40 Wagon. We couldn't be happier with this car - very safe, comfortable and importantly we can fit our BabyLove Duolite in the back.

[color=Teal]Hi Tim

We've got a Mountain Buggy Twin Urban and we love it! Our boys are 20 months old and have loved the jogger from day one. I believe it's still the narrowest and lightest twin jogger on the market, and that was our reason for buying it... plus we do a lot of walking/running and cross country stuff with it.

We have a holiday house down the coast so as we knew we'd need a big car to be able to fit 2 portable cots (they slide in behind the front driver/passenger seats - perfect!), double pram, 2 high chairs, rockers etc (and that's before we put our suitcases etc in the car. So, we bought a Chrysler Voyager and I have to say it's been brilliant. It's a 7 seater, however we have taken out the back bench seat, which leaves a heap of room... I just wheel the pram straight in to the back of the car without having to collapse it, and it still has heaps of room for shopping and other stuff.

We're currently looking at upgrading our car as there's too many kms on it, and I think we'll be sticking with the same brand. For us we just can't go past it. There's also the Mazda MPV, Kia Carnival, Toyota Tarago etc that all have a lot of space.

So, I guess for us it wasn't just about fitting in a double pram/jogger, it was about having enough room for many other things as well, and we'd much rather have too much room than not enough!

Happy car hunting!

We have the Mountain Buggy Urban Double (you can see my rave about it in the "which pram?" sticky). We have a Mazda 626 stationwagon bought for the sole purpose of having enough room in the boot for the buggy. It goes in flat so I can slide it in and out pretty easily. Also for trips away you can take the wheels off the buggy to make it smaller and put it on its side so it takes up much less space. We've fitted the double buggy plus 2 portacots plus suitcases, nappies, Christmas presents etc. Have found the stationwagon great - good alternative to the 4WD (we thought the boot space was really limited and they're quite high so getting the buggy in and out was more difficult) or the people mover (we only have the 2 kids and not planning anymore so didn't need the extra seats).

I think I may have answered a similar thread a little while ago - one warning when buying a new vehicle is to check where the tether straps for the carseats attach. They were originally attached at the back of the boot section of the stationwagon which meant the buggy wouldn't fit (doh!) - so we had new tether points fitted right behind the back seat.
