Hello

I'm TTC # 2 (through a fertility clinic, we also had a lot of difficulty with DS1) and have been having sooo many dreams and thoughts about baby names recently. Out of my mothers group and friends (about 15 in total), ALL have had or are pregnant with # 2. My 4 closest friends are due in August, September, October & November and my sis is also pregnant with # 2 due in November.

Anyway, I am just brainstorming baby names for when it finally happens for me, as it keeps me positive whilst going through the fertility treatment! original.gif

DS1 is Ethan Nikolaas.

Our surname is dutch, begins with J (pronnounced 'Y') and is 2 syllables.

Can't have a 'C' name (as much as I love Cohen, Callum, Connor) because my FIL is 'Chris' and everyone calls him 'CJ'.

Names I like (not in order) are:

Girls
Ava
Ali
Allira
Vera
Tahlia
Lana
Leah
Anna
Sienna
Sophie
Paige

Boys
Noah
Liam
Levi
Quinn
Ryan
Kai
Archie

Also LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Seth but I think that would be really stupid using Seth with 'Ethan' as they have 3 letters the same in the same order!!

DS loves 'Milly' for a girl - don't know where he got it from but think it's quite cute.

Our dog's name is Bella so Ella/Elle are out.

Middle name for a girl might be Grace (I know it's common but I love the sound of it) and maybe Alan for a boy (don't like the name itself but is my godfather's name who passed away).

Please pick your favourite out of the above list, or tell me any other suggestions.

Thanks original.gif

I really like most of the names on the list. Especially Kai for a boy and Ava for a girl.

Are there some dutch names you could add in there?
Only_Ethan
Haven't really looked into dutch names as such, but do love 'Willem' for a boy. Only thing is it'd get confused for 'William' which I don't like (especially with the royal wedding coming up, have a feeling it will become very popular again) and have a thing about nick-names of 'willy' etc?? Maybe that's just me being silly!

A dutch girl name that is okay, is 'Saskia' but don't love it.

As DS1 is Ethan and not a dutch name, I'd rather have just another standard name and nothing too hard to pronnounce or spell.

Love Sophie and Ava, Noah and Liam from your list
Only_Ethan
Sasoellu, you have the same kind of taste in names. Love Ella (but Bella is dog's name), Sophie is on my list and love Lucas (and Luka) but have family & friends with the same name. What are your name choices for baby # 4?
BrookeAry
I don't think there is anything wrong with Seth and Ethan. They sound complelty different. I would have never made that connection. After having a big discussion about baby names yesterday (I am expecting my 3rd bub in August), I am more convinced than ever that you shouldnt let things like that, or what everyone else is doing, effect your choice. If you love a name.....go for it!

Love Archie, but I'm biased!

Try saying the names ie Sophie and Ethan or whatever ones you have chosen to see what you think. Then say the name together with your surname as well.

Also, try the names with the middle names that you have chosen to see how it sounds.

I think it's a wonderful thought to keep Alan as a middle name in memory of your Godfather.

My husband's mother's side of the family are Dutch and I have done quick searches to find Dutch names so you could do the same.

Girls
Ava- lovely
Ali- I see this as a nickname only to Alexandra, Alexis, Alyssa, Alice, Alicia etc
Allira- I've always disliked it
Vera- not keen
Tahlia- ok
Lana- ok, but I much prefer Alanna or Alannah
Leah- lovely
Anna- lovely, but I definitely prefer it as a nickname only to Annaliese, Annabella, Annabelle, Annika etc
Sienna- lovely
Sophie- gorgeous
Paige- nice

Boys
Noah- lovely
Liam- lovely
Levi- lovely
Quinn- lovely
Ryan- lovely
Kai- ok
Archie- I don't mind it as a nickname only to Archer

Sophie is definitely my pick for a girl and probably Liam or Noah for a boy.

jotana

Tahlia- LOVE it's my DD's name
Sienna- nice
Paige- nice

Boys
Noah- nice
Liam- nice
Kai- like as a MN

Gudrun
My picks for girls are: Allira, Leah and Anna. Anna probably goes best with Ethan. I like Milly but prefer as a NN. With Ethan I would choose Camilla for NN Milly.

Boys: I like Noah, Liam and Seth. Noah isn't great with MN Alan so I would go Liam or Seth.

Winners would be Anna Grace and Seth Alan.

I think if you really like Seth, you should still use it, as despite having similar letters, it doesn't sound anything like Ethan.

For a girl I like Anna, and for a boy I like Liam or Archie.

Good Luck!

Girls
Vera Grace

Thank you all :)

I agree with what others have said about Ethan and Seth - they really don't sound at all alike, and I would never have picked up on the fact that they each contain three of the same letters. I don't think it's a problem at all.

Of the names on your list, I like Vera and Paige, Noah, Levi and Archie.

I don't mind Ava, Lana, Sienna, Liam and Quinn, though wouldn't choose Ava or Sienna myself as they're so popular now.

And Ali, Allira, Tahlia, Leah, Anna, Sophie, Ryan and Kai are not my style.
