I'm teaching a girl called Anjali at the moment but it's pronounced like Angelie (Ahn-ge-lee) and I really like it. DH & I have always like Angelina but I think it's getting too common.
I'm not keen on NN Angie though. Can anyone think of other NNs for Angelie???

Maybe Lily, Anna or something similar?

And wdyt of the name in general?

I also worry about having two of my kids' names starting with A's. Alexis & Angelie. Is it really that bad? Alexis gets called Lexi all the time which almost makes it two L names anyway. Lucia & Lexi.

Angel?

I think it's a lovely name. But I bet it sounds better in French (more like On-gelie) than in 'Straayen.
Nns I thought of Ange, Angie, Lee...

BTW Anjali is terrible unless it's a foreign name, it could be Indian or something, if it's a yoo-neek spelling of Angelie sick.gif

I wouldn't worry about them having the same letter. I would try to avoid it but for me it wouldn't be a deal breaker if it was my and DHs favourite name. Sounds nice with your other two girls.

ETA Sorry I just reread your post and saw you didn't like nn Angie. Well in that case you'd have to stretch it a bit like you said Lily, Annie, Gem

The Anjali I know is a young adult and is always known as Anjali (Indian father). Her name is pronounced exactly the same as Angelie is in Australian English. It is very easy to say and I see no reason to search for a NN. I think either way it makes for a very cool name.

If it's your fave I would not reject it on account of the A.

The Anjali I teach is Indian so I don't think it's a unique spelling in this case but I do prefer Angelie for an Aussie/German child. Very unlikely people will get it wrong.
I'll have to check with DH tonight if Angelie can go on our list.

I know two- one pronounced Ann Jar lee and one Ann gel ee. I think it is really pretty. Neither girl gets it shortened though so I can't help there.
