Hello,

I have a question to ask the mum's of twins or multiples. Does HCG levels that more than double sometimes indicate twins?

I had a HCG test done on Monday 14th March and Wednesday 17th March and the doctor has recently called me with the results.

Monday: HCG 487 - approx 17days dpo
Wednesday: HCG 1600 - approx 19days dpo

My ob did not give me an exact figure for Wednesdays, but said it was in the 1600's. When I jokingly said it could be more than one baby in there he said the thought has crossed his mind! He then said the baby was very strong.

I have an ultrasound next Wednesday and I guess I might find out then. I am estimating that I am currently about 5 weeks pregnant. The dpo I am working out from the +ve OPK that I got while trying to conceive. I think that was about cd17 and my cycles range from 28 to 31 days normally.

Are these numbers unusually high? They have more than doubled which I am happy about, but does it mean twins?

Any help or words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Jodie

Hi ya here are my HCG levels: Don't know if they are of any help but i was told at my first HCG test that it was a high chance that we where having twins.. And at our 6wk u/s it was a definate YES to twins..

1st HCG = 415 - 18/8 = 15dpt
2nd HCG = 3150 - 24/9 = 21dpt
3rd HCG = 22,100 - 1/10 = 27dpt
4th HCG = 65,500 - 8/10 = 34dpt
Final HCG = 42.000 - 16/10 = 42dpt

Wishing you all the best original.gif
