Good Evening Ladies/Gents!
Just reading through the Birthday list and upcoming birthdays and was wondering how you all came to choose your Multiple's names?
As we are having twin *suprises* we have chosen a first and middle name for 2 girls, & 2 boys..all have a significant meaning to us :-)

Picking 8 names was a challenge! What helped you to decide? I will leave you in suspense with our names, but not for too long ;p

Looking forward to hearing why your children were given that unique name! Thanks

Haylie ~ 25
DH (Phil) ~ 38
DSD (Ebony) ~ 15
Our Family is soon to be 5 when our twins arrive......

Oh geez Haylie are you still hanging about? Isn't it about time you had those babies of yours?? ;p

Okay we have Joseph George Edward, Joseph after my grandfather who I adored, George after the 13th Century Coaching Inn where DH and I got married, and Edward after my Dad's side of the family. My Dad died in Jan 2003, just 5 days after DH and I decided to add to our family and we know he would have been thrilled for us. We didn't want to name him after my Dad (Alan Reginald) so we used the name Edward which is the middle name of my Dad's Dad, Dad's Step-Dad and Dad's grandfather so it seemed perfect to me.

Scarlett Jessie Anne is named as we LOVED the name Scarlett, Jessie is after DH's Nana and Anne is the middle name of both mine and DH's mums so we got big brownie points there too! LOL

Thanks for the interesting topic...now go have your babies!!

Jo

HI,

We named our boys after family members alive and passed away. Jack and Tom to me were strong names oldfashioned(what I like) but easy when calling them.

What a spin out after reading a couple of posts as I haven't been online for a while, you and bree are due the same time even have similar history's. what a spin out if you end up in hospital together or even have them on the same day at least we would be able to hear how she is going.

Before we knew we were having boys we had 4 girls names and 6 boys names sorted as my DH has a tradition that all boys in the family have 2 middle names,

TWIN BOYS - no later than 29th March - come on boys you can do it on your own!

[color=Teal]I had the name Kai picked out for a couple of years before I had the boys. I've always been a great fan and admirer of Ky Hurst (the ironman), and although I loved his name, I wasn't so keen on the spelling, so I just changed it. We were fortunate enough to meet Ky Hurst last month and he was the loveliest guy, taking time out of his day (on the day of his last ironman competition) to talk to us and have photos taken. I'm just so glad we named Kai after him as he's truly a lovely guy. Kai's middle name is Liddell (my middle name, and my mother's maiden name). Mum was the youngest of 9 children (8 girls and 1 boy) and as my uncle never got married or had children I thought it would be nice to pass the name on. Also, Kai means "of the sea", which is just so fitting as our Kai absolutely loves the surf, and we live on the beach, so it's perfect!

Ryan's name is much simpler. We were so sure I'd be having at least one girl that we didn't actually come up with Ryan's name until 2 days before his birth! We lay in bed on the Sunday morning and I just kept rattling off names until we both agreed on one! His name means "little king", and it seems very fitting! His middle name is Lesley, which was my fathers name (he passed away when I was 3 years old), so I'm very proud to have been able to pass his name on.

Of course, I had 2 girls names (and middle names) picked out long before I even fell pregnant, but they'll just have to be put in the hold basket for now! ;p

Matthew - we just liked it. Jon - after a good friend of DH's.

Erin - ditto - we just liked it. Kate - after DH's twin sister.

We wanted names with "meaning", but we must be meaningless people because we could not come up with any that we liked!

Haylee, we liked Kaylee too but didn't like the nn Kay so Haylee won. It's spelt with Lee as that's my middle name. Louise, because we liked it.

Tianna, we found this name when I was pregnant with Blake & loved it. She's named after DH mum whose name is Anne. Nicole after DH. His name is Nicholas. original.gif

Cheers

We had terrible trouble deciding on names for our girls.

We didn't know what sex they were before they arrived and hadn't thought much about names until I went into early labour. Then I made DH buy me a name book and spent the days in hospital writing lists of names which would all be trashed because either DH hated them, or I would change my mind the next day. We did in the end manage to decide on two boys names a few days before they arrived, but not any girl's names. I had a bit of a thing about not wanting to have girls (wouldn't change a thing now though) so I think that was why we couldn't agree on girl's names!

Anyway the girls were 6 days old when I finally named them. We had agreed on Zoe's name the day they were born but were stuck for Twin 1 - she was almost Meagan, then almost Erin. But early on the morning of day six (my last day in hospital) I went down to NICU to deliver milk and was asked for the millionth time if we'd names them and for some reason just said "ok fine - she is Zoe and she is Isabella". Don't know where Isabella came from as we'd canned that weeks ago as neither of us liked Bella (inlaw's dog called Bella) but it just came out so that was that.

So they are Isabella Maree - Maree for DH's cousin who is a really amazing young lady and I hope Izzy grows up to be just like her. And Zoe Alexandra - Alexandra for my paternal grandfather (Alexander) who died the day I was born.

If they had been boys they would have been Samuel Frances and Noah William (both middle names after DH's grandfathers).

Wow, this is interesting...

We used out parents initials for our 2. My Mum and Dad are Annabel and Michael, so that is Alicia Mae and DH are Stan and Joan, so that is Sophie Jane. It helped us narrow down the options. I liked Alice, but DH though it was too "in wonderland!!".

Jane goes well with Sophie, as out surname has 3 syllables, so we needed something simple, as with Mae.

So there you go ...

By the way, if they are boys, they were going to be Jarred and Alex, but now I can't even remember on the second names we chose!

Cheers

It is interesting how we get names isn't it.
DH and I downloaded heaps of lists of names and gave each other a photo copy of each and diff coulor highlighter
Cody Ryan were about the only 2 names that we both agreeded on for a boy though he was almost Corey .
DD was a Diff kettle of fish Ever since I was a little girl I wanted a DD to be called Emma after my late Great Granmother I don't remember her as she passed away when I was a bub but had grwon up hearing stories about her and always loved the name. I had always thought I would have Louise as a middle as there was a lousia way bavk in the family tree and I though it was nice and sounded good with Emma.
When I was pregnant though I changed my mind and decided that I wanted May as a middle name after my Nana who was Mavis but known by many as Aunty May or May to her friends. As it happened DH"S late nana was also a Mavis so it was a fitting tribute epspec as My 2 were concieved on My Nana's B'day (the first since she passed away) They were IVF so I know the date.
It was funny though as Emma had her name from the moment I knew I was pregnant confirmed when i found out I was having at least one girl.Cody's name was still being thrown around and the order eg Cody Ryan or Ryan Cody when I had a huge scare at 29 weeks AS I was being transferred b/w hosp's I had the nurse laughing as I said Nope they can't come yet he hasn't got a name and until that's sorted he can stay put lol

We chose family names we liked and also other (non-family names that we happened to both like. We kept the names (and sexes) of our babies a secret and enjoyed the happy reactions from friends and family when they found out all the info.

We knew we were having MZ twins but not the sex so we too had to pick out 2 boys and 2 girls names. We read through baby books and each wrote a list of possible names then we ranked each other's choices and came up with the top two (for first names). We found boys names much harder to choose for some reason. I think there were only 5 on our list. Once we found first names we liked we then chose family names for the middle names. And then we decided which name would be for the first twin delivered and which for the second - my sister was sick after she had her 2nd baby and he didn't have a name for a week and I didn't want the same thing if there was something wrong with the babies or me. So our girls are:

Harriet Lorna (Lorna is DH's mother's middle name and his grandmother's name)
Eleanor Rosalind (Rosalind was my maternal grandmother's middle name)

They both have my surname as a middle name and DH's surname.

If they were boys they would have been:

Hamish Oliver (Oliver is a family name for me)and
Angus John (John is a family name for both of us)

Now we've decided no more babies I'll never have a boy so don't mind sharing the names!!

We also picked out 4 names for each sex. TAYLOR was named after Harry Kewell's (soccer player) son as my husband is involved with the Socceroo's ans he is such a nice guy. I also love "James Taylor" the musician. Taylor's middle name is David after my husband. SUMMER was easy. I have loved it since I was a girl and the season Summer has lots of great memories for us. I'm also a old surfy chick from way back. Her middle name is Julianne after my Mum. After having three boys it was nice to give my daughter my mums name as she is my best friend.
