I have always preffered the spelling Aimee which I *think* is the French version ( I may be wrong though)
MegaMegs
I think Aimee is a really pretty way of spelling it. But arent you worried that every time your daughter (i'm assuming) was to say her name to someone she will have to spell it out? Not trying to be rude... just a thought.
kpingitquiet
My ex-gf spells it Aymee original.gif
EssentialBludger
I'm Amie, it does get slightly annoying saying "Amie with an ie" afte awhile. I wish I was Amy.

I know of:
Amy
Amee
Aimee
Amie
la di dah
Personally, while some of the other ways are cute, (Clothed's, for instance) I would only ever use Amy or Aimee, which I see for whatever warped reason as the classic versions.

But I'm not a big fan of different for different's sake and one of my perpetual favourite names is Jane, so you may just want to go make me sit in the corner.

Amie
Amey
Amy
Ammie
Aimée
Ami

Why?????

I like Aimee!!
aimee28
Mine is Aimee, which has been mispelled my whole life, but I think it looks nicer than Amy. When I was young, I only knew of one other person with the same spelling, now (have just turned 30) it is a lot more common - I think I probably see it spelled Aimee more than Amy.
polidot
Aimie? But I would stick with Amy or Aimee.
TheSmithFamily

I really like the spelling Amy.

My sister is an Amy.

during Year 12 when she was going through a "phase" she changed it to Aymie......thankfully as she heads into her 30's it's back to the original spelling. original.gif

I'm a traditionalist & would go with Amy. Or in a distant second choice, Amie, in a nod to the Pure Prairie League.

Aimée/Aimee, if being true to French roots, should not be pronounced the same way as Amy or Amie.
BoyMaker
I'm Aimée. My mum was reading a french novel at the time, actually it is Aimée but on all of my documents (birth certificate, license etc) it's just Aimee because it's easier to type. If I'm typing I will usually just type Aimee also. In french it's pronounced almost exactly the same only the ee is pronounced a bit longer. People get confused because of the male version Aimé which rhymes with René. I've never had a problem with spelling. If I tell someone once they usually remember and if not I don't really care. I always liked it growing up because it was different to all the Amys.

aimee is best

That's true as well.

My friend Aimee just pronounces it the same as Amy though.

I know of three, all with different spelling:

Amy
Aimee
Amee

Hope this helps original.gif
Gudrun
Amy or Aimee for me. Don't mind Amie but it's not the spelling I would go for.
MamaP
I'm Amy - I hate all the other butchered spellings of the classic name, although Aimee is probably best.
futureself
Amy or Aimee

These:
Amey
Ammie
Ami
are not pronounced the same way as 'Amy'. Spell it these ways, and you have a different pronunciation.

When are people going to learn that i, y and e, are not simply interchangeable??
mummyofour
What's wrong with Amy ? I have an Amy & even with her "simple" spelling I still get asked how to spell it......(as lots of people assume it is Aimee )

Why?????

Hehe--I was about to ask the same question original.gif
Why try and find something inventive and unusual about such a classic and pretty name.
It would only ever by Amy or Amie for me.

(my bold)

You'll find me in the corner with la di dah. Different for different's sake is going to be a PITA when your child has to spell out their name for the rest of their life (I have a reasonably common name that has ten gazillion alternative spellings, so trust me on this). It doesn't matter if there's an Amy, Aimee, Aymie and Ayimeeiee in the class, it's still going to sound like there's four Amy's.

(Edited to correct spelling)

I'm - Amy ... wouldn't have it any other way.... it seems to be a very uncommon name so you can get away with the easy spelling ..... if I hear another "insurance - AAMI" joke about my name though when I answer the phone at work I will jump through the phone!!!!

Im an Aimee and I love it! just a little bit different original.gif

I dont really get sick of spelling it out, most people have seen/heard of the spelling before so I just have to say it once usually.
vrx_chick
I'm another Amy , and I still have to spell my name all the time, because some people assume that it is spelled Aimee... it just depends on if they know an Amy, and how it is spelled... lol

Amey is my maiden name. Pronounced like Amy. Spent my life saying "no Amey is my surname"

Anyhow, I would spell it Amy or Aimee.

Me too.. I think Aimee is quiet popular these days, so seem to have to spell out Amy as well...

I would only ever go Amy or Aimee...

Aimée/Aimee, if being true to French roots, should not be pronounced the same way as Amy or Amie.

This is what I was going to say, from Behind the Name the pronunciation of Aimée/Aimee should be e-May.

I am another that doesn't understand why you would need a different way to spell Amy.

Amy is perfect. Leave it alone.

Amy is just gorgeous, as it is my dd's name and this spelling. wub.gif
