I was just wondering what you ladies used when you wanted to duck into a shop quickly Im thinking since i am not using a capsule is ther any other product out there that i can use that i simple enough to store in the boot of my car for quick trips to the shops. I am not wanting to get the double pram out everytime i need to go to the shops. I have seen some car seats that can be used as a carrier that is the sort of thing i am after but not in the car seat style (If that makes sense) *LOL*
Hope some one can give me some insite in how to make a quick trip to the shops. (If this is even possible with twins) wink.gif

Hi Jennifer

I am not speaking from experience here and what works the best, I will leave that up to the mums as I am a mum-to-be. But, we have been researching this as well and have found some carriers that are about $90 each that we are considering. I have the link here (hopefully it works) of one on the Babies Galore website.

What do you think of these Buggy Cocoons?

Hi Jennifer,
I have to say that for me the only quick trip to the shops is when I leave the twins at home with someone else and go on my own. LOL

I can't really imagine any option other than the twin pram as you need your hands free when shopping and remember they are only light weights for such a short time. Within a few months you won't be able to carry them both on your own in any type of sling or carrier. One at a time I use the baby bjorn sling and it is great but those times are few and far between.

Internet grocery shopping is a great time saver!!

Best of luck

I must admit also that the only quick trips to the shops involved no babies. I had visions of using the capsules to get in and out of places quickly but after only a couple of months the boys were so heavy it was nearly impossible to carry both (and then you have no hands for your groceries or whatever)

I also bought 2 slings (god knows how I thought I was going to use them!-I never did). I have a pram thats really light and easy to get into and out of the car and thats basically what I used if I needed to go places

Cheers

Hi

I can double sling my girls now but don't do it very often. The logistics of getting them both from the car seats into the slings without one falling out, or bashing their heads on the doors or having one crawl away into traffic is just a nightmare! They are also getting a tad heavy so when I do it these days I put Zoe on my back and just carry Izzy but that is no good for shopping or anything but not so bad for a 100 metre dash from car to playgroup.

When they the girls were little we couldn't master the double sling, even though they would have been well light enough to manage. I had to wait until they could both sit up (which was fairly late for my girls) otherwise they would keep head butting each other!

Sorry I am not much help - my only suggestion is a get a pram that is easy to get in and out of the boot and not a nightmare to set up and drag around. But it is still a damn pain.... I am desperately hanging out until my girls are walking well enough to walk short trips like this... though I will probably regret that when it happens!

Jennifer, dont forget that your back may not be up to carrying two babies for a couple of months! I used to have two back packs - which we used one each if out with the other kids in school hols and such. And i did occasionally put one in a single stroller and the other in a backpack if the terrain was stairs on stairs - but really its the pits trying to get in and out of back packs in cramped spaces like a coffee shop (where you give the closest tables head injuries) or the car park. The other problem i found with one in a back pack thinking i'd have a quick trip to the grocery store with just one baby - i nearly tipped him into the freezer section of the shop when i leaned and reached over for something at the far end! There are no quick trips! Ali

You may be feeling a little depressed at everyone's advice that the "quick trip" is a thing of the past if you've got the babies with you. But on the positive side, my girls have always been in the double buggy when we go out (to shops or cafes) so they don't know any different. I used to be jealous of my friends with singeltons who would whip into a shop with their baby on their hip while I assembled the buggy, put 2 babies in and did the reverse afterwards. But now my 2 sit happily in their buggy not even thinking of getting out (cos they never have!) - while the singletons run riot. Won't work for all multiples but has been great for me (how long will it last?!).

Hi Jennifer,

I have a valco twin runabout even though it is a bit bulky I found it easier to get them in and out of a pram than trying to fiddle with carriers. I have been out and about nearly everyday since they were home from hospital and had school run and after school activities where I would have to get the twins in and out of the car several times a day. But you become so used to doing it that you don't know any different and other mums used to watch me and said they were amazed at the way the boys just fitted into our lifestyle and I din't make anything an issue.

My boys are very heavy and so I brought a lightweight twin stroller for the quick trips but still prefer my valco pram.

As everyone says the quickest trip to the shop is without the babies which I totally agree but if this isn't an option (my hubby works away) then you adapt and become a wizz at getting them in and out of the car.

Sorry such a long reply I do tend to ramble

take care

Thank you all for your replies. I dont think quick trips to the shops are going to be an option. My husband works 12hr days and i have no one in our area that can watch them whilst i nic down to the stores. All my friends live at least a 15min drive from me. I was just thinking since i have to do the school run twice a day (and thats 15mins away) i might aswell stay in town and get what i need done all in one trip, and save the quick shop trips for when D.H is home. I'm sure we'll work something out.. Thanks once again for all your advice..
