Hi All,
I realise this is a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" question, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me what size clothing your twins were in when they came home?
Also, what weights and gestation were they?
Thanks

Mine were pretty much right on 2 kilos when they came home and were able to wear 00000's (born at 35 weeks, came home 2 weeks later). They wore them for about 4-6 weeks. My full-term singleton however was 2.8 kilos and also wore the 00000's for quite a while but he was slow to put on weight.
I think it is a good idea to have at least a few 00000's: you can pick little suits up quite cheaply and if you don't use them they can be popped on eBay.

37+3w
birth - 2.46 and 2.61 (47.5 and 49cm)
discharge on day 5 - 2.2 and 2.4kg
they were in 00000 for 2w, the 0000 for 4w, then 000 for 10w.
my singletons were both above 8lb and still wore 00000 initially (50 and 51.5cm long).

36w4d, 2.98 (Ms J) and 3.06kg (Mr P), so not far off usual singleton full term sizes. They came home on day 3 and were in 00000 for all of 2 days at home, and I had bought and washed 8x00000 onesies, because I knew they would be premature (planned induction due to obstetric cholestasis) and was erroneously expecting tiny babies. I was pretty happy to be disappointed though, and credit my protein nazi midwife with the babies' sizes.
if I had my time again I would still get 8 x 00000 onesies, but would leave the tags on half of them so I could swap them for larger if need be. The Target ones do the job fine, come in funky colours, and regularly go on sale for $5.
The midwives at the hospital admired the babies' wee little onesies because they said everyone else just takes their babies home in 0000 clothes hanging off them. but that is probably a thriftier approach, because a lot of the time even full term singletons can get a month or so out of 0000s.
or you could get nighties. then size wouldn't matter as much!

born at 36+1
were 2.55 and 2.70kg
both were 2.5kg when we came home and were in 00000.. mioved on to 0000 fairly quickly tho!
37+6
2.6kg/2.7kg both 45cm (I think, I have it written somewhere) long. (both dropped to like 2.4kg/2.5kg)
00000 for a couple of weeks, maybe even a month?
0000 for ages
000 for maybe a month, and predictably the size I had the most clothes in (gifts etc.)
now comfortably 00!
Good luck...!!
ETA Sizes that say PREM (eg. pumpkin patch) are equivalent to 00000, accept specific really prem stuff (like Pure Baby makes)

The bonds two piece jammies are excellent because it's often lengthwise that the jumpsuits stop fitting them. You get a bit more wear out of the two piece sets. They come in 0000 sizes and aren't bulky so wouldn't be a problem on a small baby.
My two were 3.5kg and 2.8kg and the big one fitted 0000 Target suits for about a month. The little one was a bit long for 00000 suits. She wore them for about a week. She wore 000 for ages though - still has outfits of that size now at 8 months. The clothes without legs in it fits for ages.
I bought far too much winter stuff for my two (yours are due at the same time) as I thought they'd go into 00 very quickly but they didn't and it got warm early last year. I ended up with about 12 size 00 long sleeved/legged suits which thank goodness are being worn by DD now at night. If I had my time again I'd just buy newborn stuff and get the bigger stuff as I needed it. I thought I'd be so overwhelmed that I wouldn't be able to leave the house once they were here but I didn't find it hard to get out and found that I actually needed to so went shopping several times a week (bad for the bank balance but good for the sanity!)

Mine left hospital at 2.304kgs (both EXACTLY the same weight! WEIRDDDDDD especially seeing they were frats!) Anywho, they easily fit into Pumpkin Patch prem or 00000 for a few months

both were in size 0000 but dd could fit into a few 00000 (and she had to wear dolls socks as shes got such tiny feet even now shes only a size 4 shoe).
I gave birth at 37+5wks and ds2 weighed 3.5kgs (49cms long) and dd was 3.1kgs (50cms long)
I pretty much just kept them in bodysuits for the first 2 months (except for a few special outfits), then as they started to stay awake longer I would start to dress them properly.
edited because I put down the wrong weight for ds2 lol

37 + 1, 2.26 and 2.68 kgs, were in 00000 for about 4 weeks, then 0000 from then on for what seemed like an eternity.
Still in 0's at 16 mths.

Mine were 2.6 and 2.9kgs at birth, but were 2.2 and 2.5 leaving the hospital. Induced at 38.1 weeks.
00000 were swimming on them, so my sister got a few prem things for them which were handy for a few weeks.
It didn't take too long to get them into 0000, but they seemed to stay at 0000 and 000 for a long time.
At 22.5 months, they're still in size 1 (and both could easily wear a 0 around the waist...)

38+1 weeks... 2.4kg 46cm and 2.6kg 47cm. 7 days in Hospital. 00000's fitted them perfectly. I hadn't bought many though. So they mostly stayed in very baggy 0000's

00 size was probably the clothing we got the most wear out of a few months down the track. I was a big fan of two piece bonds long and shortsleeve bodysuits with assorted pants and leggings or tshirt with a bodysuit underneath. Great for mix and match and easy to grab a pair of leggings or clean top when accidents happen without having to change the whole outfit.

Mine were born at 38 + 2. DD2 was 2.680kgs & 48cm and DD3 was 3.180kgs & 50cm. We all went home after a week.
00000's fitted DD3 perfectly for a couple of weeks and then she went onto the 0000's. While they were a little bit big on DD2 and she was in the 00000's for a few weeks at least and then 0000's for a long time. DD3 seemed to just keep growing like she was trying to make the gap between them bigger (and still is) while we had trouble with getting DD2 to put on much weight.

My boys were induced at 38 weeks.
DS1 was 3.65kg, in 0000 for a few weeks before graduating to 000.
DS2 was 3.2kg, 0000 lasted him a month or more.
I had bought one pair of premmie onesies and figured if they needed them, they'd be in hospital for a while anyway, so I could send DH to buy some more!!! I ended up sending them to another twin mum who got some use out of them.
ETA: LOL MsCP, the boys were about to graduate to size 3 pants until they toilet trained, and now size 2 falls off them, but they fit size 3 tops! Funny how sizes vary so much for age

My boys were born at 38 weeks, weighed 2.5kg each and 49.5cm long each - they were in 00000's only for a couple of weeks (although the first week or so in isolette didn't need clothes anyway). They were then in 0000's for about 2 months, then 000 only 6 weeks at most. Started fitting into 00 at about 5 months and I think they are slowing down a little on the growth front for now! So hopefully will get a bit of wear out of the 00's.

Mine were full term, weighing 2.9 and 2.8kg. They fitted into mainly 0000 when we left hospital and moved to 000 pretty quickly. Now they are 20 months and wearing size one.

Wow, you grow em big Janet! My two are a little bit little, but I'm not worried about it. They're just taking their time!
Would love to pick your brains re TT - I think we're about to start with Lola, but Hugo is so disinterested it's unbelievable. As soon as Lola has pooed, she runs to me screaming ooooh, and yuuuuukkkyyy!! and gets me to change her straight away.
Hugo on the other hand would sit in a pooey nappy all day as long as he was allowed to play with trucks, buses, tip trucks, cement mixers etc.
Well hello there mammaboo

Born at 37 weeks, 2.5kg and 2.7 kg. From the beginning in 0000 Bonds. Now at 5 weeks he is in 000 Bonds. I think Bonds sizes are small so 000 Bonds is ~ 0000 other brands.

Mine were born at 35+1 and weighed 2.4 & 2.6kg. 00000s were slightly too big for them when we came home at 2 weeks. They had about 2 x 00000 outfits each, but I didn't bother buying anymore. I just put them in 0000s without feet so I could roll up the legs and sleeves. It was spring, and they were wrapped most of the time anyway.
They fitted the 0000s they had in SCN, but a midwife let me in on the secret - all of their clothes are washed in boiling hot water and dried in industrial driers so they were super shrunk

.
I was looking at the Tshirts the hospital gave us with DDs the other day. They were stunned at how tiny they were, even more so when I told them that they didn't wear the Tshirts until they were about 6mo old, because they were way too big for them when they were born LOL.

Thanks everyone! Very useful.
I have bought quite a few 00000 and 0000 all in ones from the 'Baby & Kids' Market and the AMBA market day, so we will be more than covered. In fact, we probably have too many, but thats OK, I'm sure I can pass them on once we are done. And they were all only $1-$3 each, so its not like we have spent a lot of money on them.
I have a few 000s as well, so just in case I manage to out do fillesetjumeaux then I'm covered!! (fillesetjumeaux - your babies were huge!! Thats fantastic!).
A bit OT - but its so encouraging to see that so many of you got to such good gestations. It fills me with hope and confidence.
