i am 36 weeks pregnant with twins and am so un comfortable during night when i try to go to sleep. there is so much pressure near the pubic line area. how long do twins usually gestate for when are twins usually born. how many mums have had them before 37 weeks?

I was told by mid-wife & Ob that for each baby you take of 3.5 weeks so it would be around 36-37 weeks for twins and for triplets its around 33 weeks. So you should go sometime soon. Good luck and i wish you all the best. original.gif

Welcome to EB Susan,
Well, you beat me. There is a thread not too long ago called "How many weeks gestation did you make it to" or something like that. I have fraternal twin boys who have just turned 1. I went into labour at 33 weeks and it could'nt be stopped so out they came. I had a c/s twin 2 was breech. We spent 3 1/2 weeks in hospital waiting to take them home. Hopefully cause you have made it so far, they could go into your room with you! I remember trying to sleep. The middle of summer in Qld, only thing helped was a nice bath before bed and lots of pillows!
Take care
Look foward to hearing how you are doing and those precious babies

Hi susan.
I completely understand the discomfort you are feeling but you have done a geat job of carrying your babies to this stage and hopefully it will mean that the are really healthy when they arrive.

I had my girls at 38 weeks and the last few weeks were certainly extremely difficult for me but was good for them! They were born 8lbs and 6lb 9 and had no difficulties at all and were with me the whole time.

As for getting comfortable it really is hard I know. I spent nights sitting up, sleeping in a lounge chair because I just couldn't lie in any comfortable way.

I don't know what you think about this but you might ask your doctor if there are any safe sleeping tablets to help you. I was in hospital for a week before I had my girls and I was given some as I just had to get some sleep. I was assured that everything was fully developed so there would be no harm to the babies and it was necessary for me to get on top of my fatigue.

I'm sure that you will get to meet your bubs very soon and this discomfort will all have been well worthwhile.

Best wishes
