Hello

I am 22 weeks pregnant and have a question I hope someone can help with. Is it possible to not detect twins at a 19 week ultrasound?

I had one a couple of weeks ago and they scanned the lower abdomen which a baby boy was looked at. But at my visit to the doctors yesterday he said that the baby must be siting up high like twins he said – way above my belly button. He did not explain further and I did not think it was a problem.

I need to be re-assured as my mind is all over the place (must be the pregnancy) I have asked the question to my obstetrician have not heard from him yet.

P.S Also now I think of it know one has put a stethoscope to my tummy at all in the past 21 weeks!

Cas

I'm no expert but certainly at my 19 week scan it was very obvious that there were 2 babies in there - they were touching each other through the sacs and generally switching positions - so I would think it would be very difficult to miss 2 babies. But if you're worried maybe you should ring your OB/midwife?

Thanks, I will see what my doc says. Although what you say makes perfect sense. original.gif
