How foul. It's frightening to think these soldiers (edited)have guns and are meant to be protecting people. They should be dismissed from the service and jailed for treason for attacking the PM.

Defence takes aim at racist postings

March 25, 2011

THE Defence Force has launched an investigation after Australian soldiers serving in Afghanistan posted racist messages and apparently insulted the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, on their Facebook pages.

In one message, a soldier serving in Afghanistan refers to locals as ''sand niggaz'' and ''dune coons'', and jokes about running them over with his vehicle.

Most of the images and comments were posted on publicly accessible website pages.

Problem is too that a lot of these troups are young like in their early 20's. I keep telling my DD that boys don't mature until they reach about 40 and sometimes not even then.

Very stupid and irresponsible of them to put something like that up on FB for all the world to see. Maybe getting some tough punishment from the army might knock some of that bigoted bravado off. rant.gif

this is a big problem in all the services, but it isn't always the young ones. DH had a higher ranking navy member go off about how his kids must be monkeys blah blah blah (DH is dark). that member has now been discharged, so they do take the issues seriously
