hi girls
i have only got a few mins at the moment but thought i would pop on to let you know that yep all is good with my boys. The birth went well (after a few dramas), which i will fill you in on later. The boys are beautiful and i will post some pics later. I am feeling good, a bit sore but C-sections are not too bad. It doesn't feel half as bad as i thought it would. ANyhow i will probably be back on tomorrow to post my birth story and to show you guys some pics of my little men!! The are lying here next to me in one cot next to each other. They are so adorable.

FINALLY here it comes...
here is my birth story of my boys Aidan Shaun & Keenan James.

I'm still in hospital so as you can imagine have not had much chance to get on the net. Thank you for all the nice messages and wishes!

Well as you all know the obstetrician got us to meet him at the hospital on last Thursday afternoon at 4.30 to get a catheter balloon thing inserted as my cervix wasn't favourable. Anyhow he did an internal when we got there and realised that it was a bit more favourable, so he didn't have to insert the catheter thingie. Thank goodness. He did let us go home on Thursday night and told us to come back at 7am on Friday morning to be induced.

So we rocked in on Friday morning and my waters were broken at 8.15ish. Then we just waited around for something to happen. I had the syntocin drip and my contractions started being painful at about 1pm. By 3pm I was in severe pain and wasn't really dilating much. So I got the epidural (yippee). I can tell you epidurals are the best things ever. My anaethetist was fantastic, it did not even hurt. The nurses told me that he is a great anaesthetist and they are not all that good, so I'm glad I got him!! So from 3pm til about 11pm I dilated fully and I was just cruising as I could not feel a thing. The only problems I had were that I was vomiting a few times every couple of hours, but that was not too bad. So about 11pm my obstetrician came in to check me and realised that Keenan's heart rate was quite low during contractions, so he watched the monitor for a while and decided that we would go to the operating theatre to give birth. He wanted to try firstly to get them out with a little help from Forceps as Aidan was sideways, and if that failed then we would have to have a caesarean. So that was pretty scary. Going down to theatre I was absolutely petrified but was also excited that I was to soon meet my boys. So we went to theatre and after they had been trying to get Aidan out for a while they decided that it wasn't going to happen, so I ended having a caesarean. It was not too bad. I had no pain at all and the doctors and nurses were wonderful.

They were born at 12.19 and 12.20am. I went off to recovery and after having to stay there for a while as I had a high temperature and a few problems I was off to my room at 2am to be greeted by my two beautiful boys, my partner BJ and my Mum and Dad. It was great to be there and to see everyone. The pain hasn’t been as bad as I expected. We tried breastfeeding and the boys (and us) have not slept for 5 days, so today after some discussion with midwives we have decided to go to formula as we are exhausted and the boys are not getting enough milk even after feeding for 2 hours stretches. So in a way that is a huge relief as my nipples are really grazed and I am so much pain and knew that it would only get worse and was really started to dread feeding. So now hopefully the boys will sleep tonight.. lets hope!!

If some one can PM me their email address I can email you some pics that someone could post for me? I just don’t have time to do it but I would love to show you my boys!!

Also forgot the important details:
Aidan Shaun was 3050 grams or 6 pds 11 and 49cms long
Keenan James was 3019 grams or 6 pds 10 and 49.cms long

So they were very good sizes and are very healthY!

No wonder why i was so huge. Despite all my complaining towards the end of the pregnancy i am so glad that i carried them so long and that they are so healthy!!

Will be back on after i get home!!

Hi Rachel,

Just wanted to add my congratulations. Sounds like a pretty full on birth but great that you have 2 healthy boys. Great weights!!! The breast feeding thing is really hard and noone sleeps which makes things even tougher. I hope things start to improve once the boys have full tummies!

Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

CONGRATULATIONS again Rach and Family! I really enjoyed your story and am happy that it all went well - dispite the length of time! I can just imagine the emotion you all had when Aiden and Keenan were here safe and sound.

Both fantastic weights too! Good job, I am pretty sure that our twins will be similar in weight too. Good job on the breast feeding and I am sure that you will all sleep better when they are happy on formula with full bellys. Also you will be less stressed about it to and will be able to rest.

I am determined to *try* breastfeeding our twins too and you have given me some hope that 1 day is better than none. Even if I manage like you have for a few days I will feel like I did try it out...IYKWIM.

Please PM me if you have not had any offers as yet on the photo posting as I am happy to give you my e-mail and I will do it for you.

Have a wonderful day sourrounded by your lovely new family! How exciting......
