FINALLY here it comes...
here is my birth story of my boys Aidan Shaun & Keenan James.
I'm still in hospital so as you can imagine have not had much chance to get on the net. Thank you for all the nice messages and wishes!
Well as you all know the obstetrician got us to meet him at the hospital on last Thursday afternoon at 4.30 to get a catheter balloon thing inserted as my cervix wasn't favourable. Anyhow he did an internal when we got there and realised that it was a bit more favourable, so he didn't have to insert the catheter thingie. Thank goodness. He did let us go home on Thursday night and told us to come back at 7am on Friday morning to be induced.
So we rocked in on Friday morning and my waters were broken at 8.15ish. Then we just waited around for something to happen. I had the syntocin drip and my contractions started being painful at about 1pm. By 3pm I was in severe pain and wasn't really dilating much. So I got the epidural (yippee). I can tell you epidurals are the best things ever. My anaethetist was fantastic, it did not even hurt. The nurses told me that he is a great anaesthetist and they are not all that good, so I'm glad I got him!! So from 3pm til about 11pm I dilated fully and I was just cruising as I could not feel a thing. The only problems I had were that I was vomiting a few times every couple of hours, but that was not too bad. So about 11pm my obstetrician came in to check me and realised that Keenan's heart rate was quite low during contractions, so he watched the monitor for a while and decided that we would go to the operating theatre to give birth. He wanted to try firstly to get them out with a little help from Forceps as Aidan was sideways, and if that failed then we would have to have a caesarean. So that was pretty scary. Going down to theatre I was absolutely petrified but was also excited that I was to soon meet my boys. So we went to theatre and after they had been trying to get Aidan out for a while they decided that it wasn't going to happen, so I ended having a caesarean. It was not too bad. I had no pain at all and the doctors and nurses were wonderful.
They were born at 12.19 and 12.20am. I went off to recovery and after having to stay there for a while as I had a high temperature and a few problems I was off to my room at 2am to be greeted by my two beautiful boys, my partner BJ and my Mum and Dad. It was great to be there and to see everyone. The pain hasn’t been as bad as I expected. We tried breastfeeding and the boys (and us) have not slept for 5 days, so today after some discussion with midwives we have decided to go to formula as we are exhausted and the boys are not getting enough milk even after feeding for 2 hours stretches. So in a way that is a huge relief as my nipples are really grazed and I am so much pain and knew that it would only get worse and was really started to dread feeding. So now hopefully the boys will sleep tonight.. lets hope!!
If some one can PM me their email address I can email you some pics that someone could post for me? I just don’t have time to do it but I would love to show you my boys!!
