Hi I have a query i hope you can answer for me. I was on clomid for only a month when i was told that i didnt ovulate. The week after i decided to do a pregnancy test (cause im hopeless and cant keep them if they are in the house!) and i tested 5 days before AF was due. It was positive but a faint positive so i went to the doc who did a blood test and confirmed its positive so i am 3 weeks pregnant. I have heard that when you are expecting multiples the hormones are alot higher therefore you feel pregnant more if you get what i mean. I was wondering then is it correct to say that if you are expecting multiples you should be having lots of morning sickness or does it depend on your body and previous pregnancies? i never got sick at all with my boys (daughter was another story original.gif i have never had a multiple birth but im curious as one of the side effects of the clomid is multiple birth. Could the positve so early be a sign??
thank you so much in advance for your help its greatly appreciated original.gif

Firstly congrats on your pregnancy!

For me I had no morning sickness at all with my twins, and I didn't 'feel' pregnant at all which is why at my 12 week booking in I told them I was unsure of my dates as I was desperate for a scan as I was sure something was wrong. I'd had a mc 5 weeks before finding out I was pg so it all seemed too quick in a sense to me. To hear not only that I was indeed still pg but that it was twins was a complete surprise!
I'd had an 8 week check up with my GP and he hadn't even hinted that my uterus was growing extra fast or anything.

With my first DD I had a reasonable amount of morning sickness for the first 19 weeks but nothing at all with my twins except fatigue.

Whilst the hormones are more for twins I think it would be too early to know yet as the hormones do a lot of strange things in early pregnancy!

Goodluck and hope you get the result you want!

Our twins were conceived on Clomid (irreg ovulation). I knew I was pg before I even did the test the day AF should've arrived. I think I had become so in tune with my body, maybe the extra dose of hormones with the multiple pg, I don't know. I just knew!

In the back of my mind I knew it was twins, so it wasn't a total shock when the scan to confirm pg showed two little peanuts! I couldn't believe it, but deep down it only confirmed what I knew!

I didn't suffer badly with morning sickness, I felt sick all the time early on, but then it just became this overwhelming sense of tiredness...I just wanted to sleep and sleep and sleep. I couldn't move off the couch only to go to bed and the loo! I only threw up (TMI) a couple of times.

Good luck whatever happens!

Hi Shayla

Congrats on your pregnancy! I was also on clomid (4th cycle) when I fell pg with our twins. I have since been told that since they are identical the twins are more likely hereditary from my father who is a twin rather than clomid as identical means that the egg splits and clomid usually produces twins by releasing two eggs that are fetilised (fraternal twins). I have however since read that fertility treatment may cause an egg to split, so who knows?

I was also told not to count that cycle as it was a weird one with AF for 5 days, a 1-2 day break then AF again for 5 days. My gyno told me that there would not be enough endo for implantation, wasn't she wrong! I did a test at CD40 and it was a very faint positive. I had a BT a few days later and my gyno told me not to get excited as the levels were quite low and quoted some awful figure about the high rate of pg's that end in miscarriage. ( I don't see her anymore!) I had another BT a week later and she said the levels had gone up ok and did a scan at 5 1/2 wks which didn't show much. I went o/s and she did another scan at 7 1/2 wks to show one bubs and one heartbeat. I had a bad bout of gastro (giardia) from my trip and spent some time in hospital where they did another scan at 9 1/2 wks which showed TWINS! I don't know whether my horrible weeks of sickness was the infection or morning sickness or a combination (more likely) but I had it BAD! but the worst of it was over by 10 wks and at 20 wks I still feel yuk all morning b4 lunch so just graze all day. I do know that a lot of women on this thread haven't had much at all and also others with singletons have it worse than I did....

Sorry to ramble....hope I answered your ?'s. I guess you will only find out if it's twins really at your next scan. Can you organise one earlier than the standard 12 wk one?

After 17 months TTC - TWINS!! Due 23 June 2005
