Hi Ladies...
I thought seeing as though I have got Nee to add me to the list of expecting I had better pop in & formally introduce myself...

My name is Jaki & I am married to Les & we have an 18 month old Devil Child known as The King aka Samuel.
Two weeks ago I discovered I was pregnant again which in itself was a huge shock as Lester & myself don't partake in sex if I can help it as I had an intense fear of being pregnant again. I have been struggling with PND since Sammy was born & am on AD's to try & combat that. So to be pregnant again bought all this fear & anxiety up to the top again. I had a horrid pregnancy & delivery with Samuel & was in no way keen to go there again. But here we were. It was totally unplanned but deep down not unwanted.
I had no idea when I was due as I couldn't for the life of me remember a period...LOL...So my Dr sentme for a dating scan. The woman doing it was all very casual when she turned to Les & asked..."Is there twins in the family?" I screeched at her "WHAT?WHAT?" LOL...So here we are, 10 & a bit weeks pregnant with non-identical twins. I have started to get my head around the fact...I think...LOL
We will be finding out what we are having. I am sort of excited, very scared, anxious, amazed about it all. I am glad that thre is a great place here for me to nag all of you wise mothers with any questions I may have!
I look forward to getting to know you all more!
Take care,
Jaki

Jaki!

Welcome to twin world.....Congrats to you Les and DS. It is all a bit of a shock so you are not alone there! I still look at DH in amazement and say - guess what you know we are having 2 babies! We are still in a state of shock that turns to excitement.

I can imagine it was hard for you to write your feelings here and wanted to say that I feel you are very couragous and you are definatly going to be fine. You have come to a point where you know the problem and sometimes that is half the battle for some people to admit they have the problems and need help.

You had me in a fit of laughter about not having sex - the people in the office thought I had a joke to share! LOL

Keep smiling - you will be fine and the twin/multiple mums in here are fantastic, you can yell, laugh, cry, scream and thats all in one day within the forum...

Looking forward to hearing of your twin progress.

**Our babies are fraternal too and we have left the sex as a suprise**

You should feel Blessed, only beautiful things are made in two's!

Congratulations and welcome to the world of multiples Jaki! The girls here are fabulous both in support and their knowledge so ask as many questions as you like, and remember no question is stupid! If you are going to "share" the sex of your babies, let me know when you find out and I'll change your details in the list.

Congratulations to you again, and enjoy your pregnancy. original.gif

Welcome Jaki and congratulations! Thanks for sharing your story, it must have come as quite a shock. We had waited a long time to fall pregnant second time around and were having fertility treatment, but it was still a shock to discover we were having twins...I admire your restraint when told the news... I swore @#&*$!!

Hope to see you on the boards.e

Hi Jak,

I can kind of relate as my twin pregnancy was at first a surprise/unplanned singleton pregnancy. We had many shocks over those first few weeks and the sonagrapher thought I was very clever to have unplanned fraternal twins. It turns out they are identical so it was all their own work, nothing to do with me. Ha! Ha!

Have a healthy and happy 28 weeks.

Congratulations on your twins original.gif

We were shocked when we found out we were having twins - even tho I had been on Clomid.

But once the shock (kinda) wears off, it is very exciting to be having twins - not everyone is as lucky as us.

If you need someone to talk to pm me, I also suffer from depression and am on medication to control it.
I wish you a much more positive birth experience with your twins original.gif
Good luck, you are due a couple weeks before me original.gif

[color=Blue]Hi Jaki, and congratulations!! original.gif original.gif

It is definitely a shock to find out your pregnant, and an even bigger shock to find out your carrying multiples, but with a bit of time the shock will go away and only good thoughts will creep in! ;p

Take care, and don't hesitate in asking questions. That's what we're all here for. original.gif

Thank you all for your kind & warm welcome! I am hoping to be out of denial soon & then I am sure the questions will begin to fly from me...LOL...

My Dr wants me to have a nuchal fold scan done...I can't for the life of me see how the 'people' will be able to do it on twins...Can they?

Take care,
Jaki xo

Welcome Jaki

We already had our two beautiful boys when we found out we were expecting a "surprise" baby. I also just went along for a dating scan and left my DH at home with the boys. "Just routine" I told him. Well what a scan that was. TWO little blinking heartbeats on the monitor. I think I cried (not happy tears)up until I went for the nuchal fold scan. There on the screen were my two gorgeous babies, side by side. Then they typed Twin 1 and twin 2 next to our surname and I cried again but this time absolute joy and happiness. We were going to have TWO babies and we felt like the luckiest people in the world.

Eight months on and I treasure every day. Its been tough at times but the great times outway everything. Come in here and ask as much as you want. These fantastic ladies were my savour's during the pregnancy and have been awesome ever since.

BTW all scans and test are pretty much the same with twins as they are with singletons. You just have alot more and they take twice as long. The nuchal fold is done just the same way

Hi Jaki,

They sure can do a nuchal translucency scan on twins because I had one done and I was carrying triplets wink.gif

Hi again!

Just wanted to let you know that I had the Nuchal Fold test with our twins and it was the same as a singleton. I was encourage not to worry about the blood side of it as they cant determine which one the blood is from whilst in utero, so we didnt have it done and our results were well within the "normal" ranges. (I know other twin mums to be in here that also had the bloods but)

All the best and the shock may wear off, but the smirk wont LOL......

Have a great day.

Congratulations on your twins. It is very exciting, scary but exciting.

I too swore at the sonographer when she told me we were expecting twins. I still don't think that I am over the shock. I sit and look from one to the other and wonder how it is possible to have two babies at once.

I had the blood taken before the Nuchal Fold Scan but the sonographer said it was a waste of time because they don't know which baby would be giving which reading or something like that.

Hello everyone!
I'm new to this, but after reading through all the multiples discussions I am keen to talk.
Here's my story so far...
After trying Clomid and then Puregon (FSH) injections for a few months with no luck, we decided to give IUI a go. On our first try of IUI on Christmas Eve 2004 it worked, and I am now almost 10 weeks pregnant with fraternal triplets! Darrell and I are really excited but of course there's some feelings of trepidation too. I've got lots of questions but just wanted to say hi for now.
