How many out there are breastfeeding or breastfed their twins?
Im still feeding my boys and are finding it to get a little difficult in the positioning(twin feeding -football style.) as they are getting bigger! Any surgestions about a new technique? :confuse:

Hi there, I only did twin feeding for the first couple of weeks and then I switched to feeding one after the other, which worked well for me. I breastfed them until 7 months; from about 5 months on I dropped one feed every fortnight or so and gave them formula, which they loved. I was ready to finish breastfeeding at 7 months and so were they; they preferred their bottles of formula! My next daughter was a different story as she refused to drink breastmilk or formula from a bottle until 10 months of age.
You could try consulting the Breastfeeding Mothers' Association or a lactation consultant for some other techniques too. But I'm sure other mums will reply to your post and have some suggestions for you.
Good luck,

Still feeding here. The twins were 8 months old last week. I usually do them separately now as they are too distracted on the twin pillow, but occassionally di it football style. Taylor has a top up of infasoy at night now which he needs. I'm finding the breastfeeding easy now so will keep going as long as they want to

I'm still feeding my bubs twinstyle, they are just 10 mo now. I found just adding an extra support behind me allowed a little more room as they grow, so they don't kick the back of the couch and bounce themselves off! Also they aren't huge babies so we are still quite comfortable feeding this way. I do feed them individually when required too, but much prefer simultaneously. I also added an extra cushion under their bottom, and this gives some extra support. I've got a nice little nest worked out and get really annoyed if anyone mucks it up!!!! lol.

Thanks for all the replies good to hear stories of other breastfeeding mothers! i tried pillow behind my back it worked better. My boys are 7months and i plan to breastfeed until they are fully on solids so god knows when that will be. I tend to single feed but try to twin feed more, some days it feels like all i do is sit in a chair and feed!!!LOL!!!

I am still breastfeeding my two monsters (they are 14 months old) though only occasionally twin feeding as they refused to twin feed at all when we went through breast refusal and have only just recently been able to get them to feed twin style.

My girls aren't huge but I still find it all a bit of a battle as now they can crawl, climb and wriggle they tend to want to move to their own possies but they aren't at all impressed if one is getting a feed and the other isn't so we persavere!

Have you tried changing positions? We've has some success with one football style the other in the normal position - the one who is football sort of rests their head on the other's feet if that makes sense? On a pillow though to stop them kicking! Here's a good photo of what I mean...

and if you follow the links there are photos of other positions as well.

The ABA has a good booklet on twin feeding that has photos of different positions.
This site has some good photos and info

but i've never managed that double cralde hold.. i think you need small perky boobs for that!
