I've just had my 18 wk ultrasound, and learnt that we're having a boy and a girl, which we're thrilled with. Both look to be healthy and of a normal size. However, the scan showed that instead of the sacs being situated left and right of each other, they're one above the other, which they call inferior/ superior positioning. Does anyone know how this impacts the pregnancy and delivery? The girl doing the scan thought that it means I'll need a c-section, although I hope not. I'm not seeing my ob for a couple of weeks, so I'd really like some info now.
Thanks,
Libby

Libby - Congratulations on your twin pregnancy, welcome to Essential Baby and also a BIG congrats on the Boy/Girl News!!
This sounds like it is all going well - I wouldnt worry about the position of the babies at this stage only because they will turn *so* many times between now and the next scan its unbeleivable. I am a little shocked to hear that a sonographer would pass a comment on the type of delivery you will have to have!!! Actually I am astounded.......especailly at a 18 week scan. If it was the 38 week scan I would not be so suprised. when you see your Ob next I am sure that he/she will explain.
dont panic - it will all be fine and I wish you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy.
Looking forward to following your progress.

Thanks for your reassurance Bree. From reading the posts here at EB, it seems as though the babies continue to turn and change position right until they're born. I said this to the sonographer and she said that yes, the babies can move, but not really the sacs/membrane, and that after the 1st baby was born the membrane between the sacs which is horizontal would be pretty much cutting off the exit to the cervix. Maybe my ob will have a different opinion?
Thanks for your help,Libby
