So we have the usual story over here, baby number one on its way. We were sure it was a girl and had a girls name all sorted and low and behold its a boy!
Now we cannot agree on ANY names.. DF is set on Thomas, but I think its a little too 'common' for me plus its a family name of his and I think since its a boy and he has DFs surname, I want the family name to come from my side if at all. So anyway I have agreed on Thomas as a middle name if it suits, otherwise it will be Luke.

The names we have on our 'maybe' list are:
Joseph (would be Joey) - not sure about it myself
Oscar - love it, DF hates it
Spencer - DF not too sure
Austin
Frederick (family name and would get Freddy) Love it - DF not sure
Vincent
I also love Marshall but DF doesn't..

HELP!! What do you think of our names and are there any that you can suggest I might be able to get past my boring DF's choices!

I would not stress too much, we were the same with DS and DH was hopeless with names but within the last month before he was due we had a named picked for both a boy and a girl (did not know what we were having) and it worked out well. We kept the girls name for when we had DD and it suits her as well. We did not know what we were having with her either.

Joseph - like it and goes well with Thomas as MN.
Oscar - as above
Spencer - okay
Austin - okay
Frederick - like it
Vincent - NMS
Marshall - NMS

My last boys list was similar to that, Austin was our 2nd choice after Oliver but if Thomas is too comoon, Oliver definitely will be!

I like Joseph too but also not sure about Joey - how about just Joe? I have a cousin Joseph and he's always been Joseph. Be strict when they're young and people get the hint

Thomas and Luke are both really lovely also.

Vincent Thomas is my pick by far using the names on that list and the options of Thomas or Luke for middle names but I would love Thomas Vincent, Thomas Luke, Luke Thomas or Luke Vincent too.

I love Oscar, Spencer and Freddy.

I think Luke and Thomas are too normal and common for me to choose as a first name.

I dont mind Frankie but I did go to school with a Frank who was a bit of a bully! It also sounds like a Gangsta name to me which is pretty cool

Ohboy - Oscar Thomas was the name I first chose DF doesn't like Oscar though and refuses to use it

I think Im set on Frederick Thomas, I keep coming back to that and Frederick is a family name of mine that I would really like to see used again. It was my Mums Dad who died when I was very young. My Mum is an olny child and she was very very close to her Dad so I think she'd really appreciate it too DF gets his Thomas then and he'll just learn to love Freddy I think. Is it wrong to force a name on him??
