Hi there.
I don't have twins. I only have one dd at the moment.. and I am seriously thinking about starting o # 2.

I was just curious about twins. I have twins all over my side of the family. My Grandmother is a twin, my great uncles are twins, and I think there are second cousins that are twins as well. And also my bilogical father's sister gave birth to twins. Then on my hubbys side there are twins all over the place. Not that that makes much of a difference apparently.

I was just wondering where the twins were in your family? Or were you flukes! original.gif If you don't mind telling me your family history

I am trying to find out info about where twins seem to pop up.. but not having any luck.

I am secretly hoping I will have twins so I can get two for the price of one. I can think of nothing better than being pregnant once and get two kids out of it! LOL I am kidding... it must be hard work.

Anyway I better go... Missy here is giving me her bib and saying "Tea" so it must be tea time! original.gif

Ours are fraternal & run on both sides of the family. Fraternals run through the mother's side. My Grandmothers sister had twins (Peter & Paul) & then me. My fathers also got twins on his side but not sure if they're fraternal/identical & one died at birth.

My twins are fraternal, thought they were just a fluke as we dont have any twins on my side. Since learn't that my great grandmother was a triplet, not sure if the multiples come from there or not.

DH has fraternal twins on his side of the family but they have to come from the mothers side.

Mine are fraternal (obviously with girl/boy). No twins in either side going back for generations, so a fluke here as well, but what a fantastic fluke to have.

Hi

Well i am an identical twin and i am having identical twins. I have been told that fraternal twins run through their mothers families whereas identical twins are complete flukes as it is just the egg splitting. Saying that though i have two great friends who are identical twins and their mum is an identical twin as well - so i think it is maybe too much of a coincidence? I think there could be something more to identical twins then just a fluke!!

Hi Skip

I am pregnant with identical twins. They say fraternal are hereditary and identicals are a fluke. I was on clomid which is a drug that helps you to ovulate and has a higher risk of multiple births. Since our twins are identical the doctors seem to think it wasn't due to the clomid as this would make you produce two eggs rather than an egg split, which is what happens with identical twins. My father is a twin, so I agree with Rachie, maybe identicals are more than just a fluke? much too coincidental in too many cases....and there are a number of ladies here with fraternals that say there are no family history...who knows????? sorry, hope I haven't been too confusing....
