Hi Mumtomany,
Firstly will warn you this may be a bit long!
I am certainly no expert in this field but my second twin was lying transverse from about 28 weeks on, while my first twin was heads down. Twin 2 (Scarlett) didn't turn heads down but I had stated in my birth plan that I would like a scan when I went into labour to see what position she was in to determine whether a vaginal birth was possible as I *really* didn't want a c-section if I could avoid it. So I went into labour naturally one night, went to the hospital and had my scan, she was still transverse so I opted for the c-section. I was prepped for a c-section, got to the Operating theatre and I just HAD to push, 6 pushes later there was Twin 1! They then managed to externally turn Twin 2 so she was heads down, but she refused to go down the birth canal so they went back to the idea of a c-section being that we were in theatre anyhow and it had been alomst 30 minutes since Twin 1 was born. Suddenly I needed to push again and she came along just fine exactly 30 minutes after her brother.
I think it goes that if Twin 1 is in a "favourable" position then they can turn the second twin after the first is born (this doesn't always work but I was happy to try it and it didn't hurt me or distress the baby at all)
I think with twins it is always best to be prepared mentally and emotionally for a c-section but also don't be afraid to make your requirements known so that other options can be tried first if possible.
Your twins still have time to turn even if you don't think there is room, they will make it!
Jo
