My daughter is now 18 mths, and during her pregnancy I was very healthy throughout, I didn't even have a sniffle.

I am now 16 weeks pregnant with twins, and I am constantly feeling run-down. I haven't had any serious health issues, but I have been getting colds, swollen glands, hay-fever and cold sores. I'm not working and I have a sleep each day while my daughter naps. I eat healthily and go for a 50 min walk most days and take iron and folate. I have a thyroid condition, Graves disease but it's being monitored and is in remission, so I don't think it should be a factor.

Do you think that being run-down is just part of a twin pregnancy?

I'd appreciate your suggestions..

Yes. Your body is doing a hell of alot of work sustaining 2 babies so it's logical that you'd be more tired etc. I was anyway.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Cheers

i too felt quite run down with my twin pregnancy... could not get over how much less i could do than when i was pregnant with my first baby....
just remember to take extra care of yourself as your body is working twice as hard keeping up with everything at the moment and needs lots and lots of tender loving care!!
Good luck i hope this helps

Hi there,

I didn't suffer any morning sickness at all with my twin pregnancy but boy was I tired ALL the time or so it felt. I was constantly exhausted after doing the smallest jobs.
I got very frustrated with it as I had been fine with my first pregnancy and just couldn't understand it.I spoke with my Dr and he explained to me that being pregnant with twins is the same work on your body as CONSTANTLY running a marathon.
Just take it as easy as you can, keep up the good work and remember growing two babies in you *is* hard work!

Hi didnt know If my opinion really helps too much - this is my first pregnancy and I am 28 weeks with twins. I also have an underactive thyriod and am having B/t every 2 weeks to ensure my levels are ok. I too have to up the amount of iron I am getting.

I was very lucky and didnt have any morning sickness at all - but at this point I am feeling very tired and have got odema (swollen feet) quiet bad. I am still working and will be for a few more weeks.

Try to stay relaxed as possible (cant imagine thats too easy with a little girl already) but get some help from others around you while your body is telling you to take it easy.

I hope you feel better soon and that it will subside soon.

Sending you a cyber hug!
Also welcome to Essential Baby!!!!
