I was just reading about nicknames for Alistair and one mentioned was Stairway to Heaven ... Got me thinking what are some of the more unusual nicknames you know?
I know a little one called Audrey with a nickname 'The Index' ... Audrey became Auds, which became All Ords then The Index

When I was a teenager we called one of our friends 'mountain ash'.

seems a bit mean now.
His name was Ashley and he was
very tall and quite overweight, and had this massive head of long black hair.
Someone coined the name when we were all stoned

and thought he literally looked like a mountain, and from then on he was Mountain Ash.

DS name is Maverick,
I didn't know this but apparently when children are learning to talk they pronounce the sound 'v' as 'g'. So his cousin 3 was calling him Mag-rick, which sounded like Magic. So now Maverick is Magic....
