Hi, quick question, Me, XDH and our 3 kids are ehading to darwin in August for a week for my little brothers wedding. just looking for some child friendly accomidation that isnt going to cost the eartj (its costing over 2000 to fly our family up as it is) also what sort of things can you recomend doing while we are up there?

Unfortunately July-August is a really bad time to visit if you are looking for cheap accommodation, its the peak season with a lot events happening in Darwin.

As for things to do, there is actually HEAPS to do. National Parks, the Museum, Berry Springs Wildlife Park, Wave Pool, fish feeding are just some of the things you could do.

If you have transport, you could drive to Katherine which is only 3hours away.

For family accom - try these
- Cullen Bay serviced aparements
- The gardens serviced apartments
- Mirambeena Travelodge

You can also check out Stayz - some good ' Holiday homes' which are often cheaper than a hotel. August is still in peak season so I doubt you'll get accom really cheap. But if you book soon you may be able to negotiate a good deal.

I second Cullen Bay apartments. I recommend Parap Village Apartments for anytime of the year. Also if you end up having trouble finding somewhere then check out Coconut Grove Apartments. Warning they are cheap and clean but old. Also the parking is not secure, meaning just a simple car park with no gates.
