Hi,

I live in Perth, have a toddler and am pregnant with number two.

We have flyscreens on every window and door (although the one to the back yard isn't always closed), and I am inundated with flies! They are everywhere! I have a fly swat, but these ones are obviously the next generation, and are FAST!

The spiders (mainly Daddy Long Legs and generic black spiders) moved in and I thought they would help with the flies. They haven't. Obviusly the two species have reached an agreement where when the flies have had enough of chasing me, the spiders will drape another web over me. I am going CRAZY!!

Please tell me if there is a safe way to get rid of the buggers before I resort to a can of poison!

I brush down the webs every time I find one, sqash the spinders and flies whenever I can, keep the door closed as much as is possible with a forgetful husband and toddler, and am stuck!

HELP ME PLEASE!!

I've been told lemon oil is good for spiders. When you brush them down put a soft cloth over the broom with a touch of oil in it. Has to be repeated every month or so.

Flies don't like basil, mint and lemongrass, so grow these around the house. They also like bare earth so any bare patches grow something. They also like the light so making an area darker helps too. Although making an area darker encourages mozzies.

Those fly traps from bunnings work great but the do stink afterwhile, so either keep them away from the house or clean them often.
