Hello & thanks to everyone who answered my questions about twins . Still not sure how I will cope seems like hard work !! Also it appears that most women have had a c section to bring their babies in to the world . I am also intrested in hearing from those mums as well . As I have not had a c section , seems a bit scarey !! Have been to the doctors today all seems well at 19 weeks 5 days . I feel that my belly is getting bigger by the hour !! I would also like to hear from any mum who has given birth naturally just so i have all my bases covered . Also I have been buying something fow my twins each week can you tell me some good brands on prams , bibs or anything in general. I am trying to stock up on everything , i would like to be well set up before the twins birth . Have you come across any product you have found you could not be without ?? I know i will forget to buy something . Merry Christmas & thanks for being so helpful Michelle

Hi,

I have a large family also and finding out I was expecting my twins was a huge shock at the time too.
I had non ID boy's and was induced at 37wks by agreement between the Dr and I as we had really had enough. I have heard of many twin pregnancies going to 38 or even full term, but normally with non id's as they tend to have fewer problems than ID twins. So you do have a good chance of having them near term and naturally. Personally if I could do it again I would have a c section though as the placenta detached right after twin 1 was born leaving twin 2 in real danger. His heart rate dropped dangerously low and they couldn't workout why and there was no time for a c section by then. If he had been any higher up they wouldn't have been able to save him.
The DR used forceps to bring Jacob into the world and the placenta was right on top of him and the Dr said that is why he was in fetal distress. Now the placenta can detached before the birth in any pregnancy it is not a twin related thing. But I always wonder now. My placenta with them was like yours but during the pregnancy it fused toegether to make it appear like one and deliver as one. Time will only tell what yours will do and how the delivery with it will go.
It is a shock having twins after having singles, but you get there in the end. I have been especially lucky as I have my DH home all the time to help me, but our twins are difficult boy's anyway...lol the first year tends to be a blur, but a nice one.
I would suggest looking through the pram thread in this section in regards to prams, I have listed the one I am really happy with in there too.
The things I couldn't have coped without when they were tiny is our bouncers..the old fashioned ones!
Sleeping the twins is a matter for your twins to decide on. I thought mine would be happy together in the same cot for months, but they hated it. Others on here say theirs love it.
Routine hmm..lol I have read most mothers have rountines they follow, but I don't have one. It just didn't work with so many others children in the house ranging in age from now 16 down(at the time). The boy's have a set bedtime now though and they get upset if they aren't in bed by that time. They have been like that since about 11mths.
Twins seem to be a bit slower in the talking dept(or at least in my case) Mine are 2 in feb and really don't have a huge vocab compared to all the others I have had. Apparently this is because twins have something like their own forms of communication. Mine were also slower to walk and started to walk at about 17mths.

Sorry to have babbled on. All the best. I am sure the other Mum of twins and more have so much more to offer in advice. I feel like I am still finding my feet in this little adventure..lol

Take care

Hello Kit4keeps , thanks for your email . You have answered my questions about the two placenta's . I was glad to hear from someone who also has a large family & then has had twins . Can I ask how large your family is ?? As I am starting to feel like I have more kids than anyone !! I would also like to ask you about your birth if I may ?? How long was your birth ?? Please tell me that the contractions are just the same as when giving birth to a single baby ?? How did you rest during whilst carrying twins & looking after a large family . People tell me to take it easy , but this is not easy at times with so many kids & running a house . Thanks for your reply & merry christmas .

Hi again,

I am about to have number 7 in June. When I was expecting the twins I had two other children in the house besides my own 4, so 6 at the time! I love large families although people in the street can be very unkind at times.
Most Gyn's prefer you to have an epidural when having twins so they can help the babies if the need arises in a hurry. I got to feel the contractions for the first while only and they were the same as normal single births. Because I was induced the labour was fast and was about 3hrs or just under.

As far as resting goes you are right it is hard when there are other children, but the key is probably doing as little as possible without the wheels falling off(to quote my Dr) towards the end I couldn't get out of bed to do anything I was living in an extremely hot area at the time and I swelled up very badly and fainted alot. My DH stayed home and helped me after I was in a car accident at 26wks. So he was home before the worst set in anyway.
hope some of this helps you.

Hello Kit4keeps , Thanks for replying my posts . I am so lucky to meet you !! You have helped me out a lot & I thank you for that . Your placenta story did help me out a lot as you are the only one who has replied who has a natural birth . You & I are in the same league I have 6 children ranging from 16 to 20 months . My husband works so I am here most of myself but he will be another staying at home after the birth. Otherwise i am not sure if i can cope , 4 to get to school & now twins . just to clarify I will have 8 with the twins . I agree some people are nasty when it comes to large families . The smerks on peoples faces when they find out when i am expecting another 2 . Well it's not my problem if people do not like it , but it the same breath i still worry what people think . I have 4 girls & 2 boys , and the twins are apparently girls . What do you have ?? I really wish you the best with number 7. I am worried about the birth with the twins & was planning on an epidural anyway not sure if i could cope without one . Enjoy your xmas with all your family & I would like to hear from you again . I also did look up your post about the pram loks good to me I have a pic in a mag , I figue it must be ok if your twins are 18 months & it can hold both of them with ease . It maybe the pram for me . Thanks once again , Michelle

I replied to your other post just before. I had a natural birth with mine and the docs gave me an epidural I didnt really have too much of a choice -not that I wanted drug free!

I just wanted to say I can't believe people judge you so badly for having a big family! I would love to have a lot of family around me. I have just the twins and although Im still young I don't know if I ever want more. They are hard enough work for me.

I give you guys credit for having so many kids, you are supermums!
