Hi all!

I'm 27 weeks pregnant with mz twin girls, our first babies. We're very excited and a little scared. So far the pregnancy is going well, b/p was high but back to normal after finishing work & nearing the end of our bathroom renovations!

I have 2 queries I hope you can help me with.
1) What I intend to be 'short' outings are turning into mammoth events. I am getting a lot of comments/questions like 'you can't have long to go now' (at 25 weeks!) and I am too polite not to stop & tell people I'm due to have twins. This opens the pandora's box of questions... How did or do you cope with endless questions from strangers?

2) I am already wearing maternity clothes that I thought I would be wearing at the end of my pregnancy. Do you have any suggestions of where I can buy reasonably priced (if there is such a thing!) maternity clothes? I am a size 12-14ish at the moment & I live in Melbourne.

Thank you!

Hi Lisa
I can so relate to what you have said. I just tried to shrug the rude comments off or laugh at the priceless expressions on their face when they say haven't got long now and I would say oh yes I still have 12 weeks etc as usually they wouldn't know where to look. As for clothes I would suggets you pop over to Ormond. There is a fab clothes shop that is really reasonably priced eg tops about $20.00 -$30.00 etc in both casuall and dressy. It is North road about 2 doors up from the station on the city side of North Road. DH banned me from going there lol as I would come out with heaps but it was good value for money. When I was preganant I spendt about $230.00 one day but for that I got
2 long sleeve wincheater type tops
3 lon sleeve shirts that could be worn as a shirt or over top IYKWIM
I 3/4 length woolen longsleeve dress (which was sooo comfy)
I pair of maternity pants.
2 short sleev shirts
I think thatwas it but as you can see I got a lot for my money and I had enough tops to see me through a week at work so that was good.
I was in maternity clothes by 10 weeks but I mainly got strechy clothes and bought the next size up as well in maternity eg I was a 12 but in the end I would get some size 14 or 16 maternity clothes mind you I got these at 28 weeks to see me through and delivered at 31 wekks DOH!!!
Good luck

kind regards

Hi Lisa,

Welcome to EB and congratulations on your twin pregnancy! I can't help you with the clothes issues because I was hospitalised from 20 weeks so I spent the remainder of my pregnancy in nighties! :gasp:

As far as questions from strangers go that will never stop lol!! When your girls are born you will find you get stopped when you go out too. My three are 2 now and I still get stopped and questioned.

Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy, and look forward to seeing you around the boards.

Welcome Lisa

Congrats on your twin pregnancy. I'm afraid that the questions never stop. I have two older boys as well as boy/girl twins and most of the time we are a walking freak show. Depending on my mood is how I answer the questions. Most people mean well but sometimes they are down right rude.

On the clothes issue, where are in Melbourne are you? I live in Bayside so I might be able to help you woth some great shops. You can either PM me or post it back here. Good Luck

Congratulations on your twin pregnancy.

Unfortunately the comments never stop. I always have people stopping me with my 1 yr old twins very annoying. Some days I feel like slapping them to stop them touching

As for maternity shops - Pumpkin Patch!!!! Their stuff is great and it has a good resale value also. And at the moment DFO out at Moorabbin Airport - the Pumpkin Patch outlet is having a sale with upto 60% off. They stock last seasons maternity.

Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy

Cheers

Hi Lisa - Welcome aboard to Twin world...its a lovely world to be in!!!

You will find all the answers to your questions here, there is always someone that can help out.

I am exactly the same at the moment with the shopping trips etc etc, people are now able to notice my belly more now than say a month ago - so its questions all the time **LOL** it doesnt get any easier with the investigator shoppers and curious people either - the girls here will also warn you of that! I am not far behind you so I know how you feel.......OMG!

Good luck with the clothes shopping - I just found some nice baby doll tops in Jeans west that go to an XL that seem to be looking nice at the moment - I also have a skirt from Pumpkin patch and a few tops from Mother and Me but they are still too big at this stage..

Wishing you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy and look forward to getting to know you.

Feel free to send me a Private message to have a chat any time..

Hi Lisa, congratulations on your pregnancy! In answer to your question re clothes the advice that has already been posted is excellent. I would only add that by the end of my pregnancy I only really felt comfortable in overalls (very fashionable- not!) because I didn't like anything tight around my tummy. I waddled around in a pair of overalls from Myer maternity and also a pair of overalls which were shorts. I wore the overall/shorts pretty much every day in the final week as I felt the coolest and most comfortable in this. (My babies were born at the start of summer). I know I looked enormous but if I was comfortable I didn't care!!!
Happy maternity shopping,
Maycee (former wearer of maternity clothes and the dreaded maternity bras!) Tounge1.gif

Hi lisa

Can't help you on the clothes as I don't live in melbourne so I haven't got a clue where to go original.gif.

oh the comments original.gif I had this one lady who hadn't seen me since late in the pregnancy, and I assumed she knew I was pregnant - I mean I was soooo big you couldn't but mistake it for a pregnancy tummy. Anyway about 3 weeks after I had them I went into our local shop to get a few things and she was there. She looked at me and see "gee, you've lost so much weight, what diet are you on" - I think I gave her the "I'm dumbfounded" look, smiled and walked away. It wasn't until a couple of weeks later when I was again out but with the twins in their pram, that she finally twigged as to why I'd lost so much weight so quickly - I've never seen anyone apologise that quick. original.gif

Take care and enjoy the peace while it lasts original.gif

ROFL at the not long to go questions! I used to just say "no, 15 weeks to go" and leave it at that - offer no more explanation ... it throws them big time original.gif Though some days I would be in the mood to be generous and would tell them it was twins.
