Finding a Lactation Consultant
Lactation Consultants work in variety of settings.
They are health professionals whose important roles are offering breast feeding assistance and education.
They may offer individual consultation for a myriad of breast feeding problems, provide antenatal breast feeding classes, post-birth support groups and assistance with breast feeding products (eg, breast pumps, nipple shields, supplemental nursing systems/supply lines).
They are often employed at Maternity Hospitals or at local Councils and Maternal Child Health Centres (different titles in different states of Australia).
There are also many Lactation Consultants working in Private Practice.
The links below are to Australian and International IBCLC professional organisations that have lists of their members working in private practice.
