Hi everyone,

DS is six and just about to finish kindergarten. He reads at level 28 (according to NSW school curriculum) and I want to get him some chapbooks which will hold his interest at his age. He seems very interested in the "Captain Underpants" series, so am thinking of getting him that one. Any other suggestions?

Zac Power was very popular with my son & his friends last year (he is 7 now)

He might like starting on the Tashi books too. My DS loved them in Grade 2 (turning 7) and so did DD (who is 7.5 now). She also loves any of the Roald Dahl books - some are easier to read then others. Agree with Zac Power as PP mentioned too. DS read some of these in Grade 2 as well.

As he gets a bit older, Beast Quest and Spiderwick book series have been a winner in our household for our son. Harry Potter is also good for when he is older and my son has just started getting into the Rangers Apprentice series. That gives you a few ideas. original.gif

My ds loves the My Weird School series by Dan Gutman. The first one is called Miss Daisy is Crazy and the second one is Mr Klutz is Nuts. The characters in the books are in Year 2 but they are very easy reading so would be fine for a year 1 kid (or you could always read them aloud as I do as my kids are both super lazy readers!). They are not widely available in Australia but you can order them from bookdepository.

Another fantastic one if he is into bums (and aren't they all at that age? wink.gif ) is The Bugalugs Bum Thief by Tim Winton.
