Hi, Just wanted some opinions on Coleridge with NN Cole. Cheers.
poppy3
Mmmm - I don't mind Cole - rings a bell from a movie - can't think which. Actually - think it was Mr Holland's Opus.

Not sure I like Coleridge too much - reminds me of English lessons at high school.
mumto4boys
I came in from the recent topics list. I thought you were talking about the place blush.gif

As a baby name? Not my scene.
MummyPink
I prefer Cole to Coleridge too original.gif
caesie'n'linc
Not a fan of Coleridge...I'd worry he'd prefer to be called 'Ridge' LOL

My brother is Cole tho...he often get's called Colin or asked if his name is really Colin...can't win with this name business LOL
Just go with the name you love & don't let anyone make you feel bad about your decision original.gif

To me it's like naming someone Shakespeare. Not good.
Amanda_R
Yeah, I tend to think it's leaning a bit too far towards the 'trying too hard' sort of name.
Gudrun
If you wanted to name your child after Coleridge the poet I'd make it a middle name. It seems a bit too heavy and serious for a first name. For first name I too would prefer Cole which is quite cool.

That's the name of the street right near my house, I live in an area where all the streets are named after writers. I don't think it is good name for a child.
fifi-trixibelle
It seems like it would be stretching the limits of surnames as first names.

This.

I agree with Gudrun - as a first name it's a bit too much, but I wouldn't mind it as a middle name. I'm not really a fan of Cole as a nickname either.

makes me think of coleridges poetry, which in turn makes me want to laugh.

sorry, don't like it, don't mind cole though

Can't help but feel it smacks somewhat of literary pretention, even though that may not be the case.

Don't mind Cole though.

Coleridge = pretentious try hard
Cole = bogan
zoemonster
I agree nice middle name. But I have heard worse names I dont dislike it.

Melinda
Robbie
It sounds pretentious to me. Like the parents are trying to impress the world with how intellectual they are.

Thanks for the opinions ladies. I am a poet so am trying to do something meaningful to me, but nothing fits IYKWIM.
countrymel
I think it would make a fine middle name (and my Mum's middle name was Cole) - if you want to call him Cole then do, simply bypass the first name altogether. I know MANY adults who do this (although most of them are called John?)

Why not

Enter your name and your husbands name in the boxes and generate your own.

FWIW: Ophelia Poet would be "Fletcher Albatross"
BearWithMe
Not something I would ever use, not a fan of Cole either.
KT2005
As ballsy choices go, I don't mind it. I get the feeling he wouldn't use the full name much though.
CaptainOblivious
I think it's terrible, it sounds like he is another cast member from the Bold and the Beautiful.
The 7 Dwarfs
Don't like it sorry
QueenOfTheDesert
Aweful sorry.

I would just use "Cole" if that is what you are really planning to call him anyway!
