hi, with my son i had severe morning sickness for the whole 9 months and didnt have a great time of it. Luckily he was born perfect and absolutley amazing and isthe absolute light of my life and teh morning sickness ended the minute he was born.
Now i have it again with the twins, not quite as much spewing but just as much pain and constant nauesea. The worst part is the exhaustion and hormones, i cry all the time and am just miserable all the time and dont feel well enough to play with my son and of couse feel extra bad about that so become more miserable.
My husband is great and cooks and cleans and looks after our son really well but i think the sympathy is running very very thin already.
It hasnt helped that i have had a cold for weeks that never seems to pass and my son has had gastro and the flu and every bloody thing else.
Please, please please somoene tell me some wonderful cure for morning sickness so i dont feel liek the absolute worst mum and wife in teh world.
I'm only nearly 13 weeks and know that i cant possibly do this again for an entire 9 months of sickness aaaarrrrrhhhhhhhh!!!!

Are you taking anything to help with the nausea?
I've tried the Blackmores morning sickness tabs but they did nothing for me so I went to my GP and got a script for Maxalon!
We are getting to move house and during the week, DH is 5hrs away and I'm home looking after our three kids. I physically could not do it the way I have been feeling!
Also, ginger, sea sickness bands etc have all been recommended to me. I love ginger generally but this pregnancy I just cant seem to handle it in anything other than stir fries!!
I'm 11.5 weeks now and thought last week the sickness may have been fading..... serves me right for hoping lol

Hi,
I am not pregnant with muliples but my single bub (13 weeks too!) is causing me grief and I could relate to every word of your post.
Some ideas...
If you are up during the night with nausea or sleeplessness or you are very sick in the mornings try Restavit (1/2-1 per night). It is actually a sleeping medication but my ob recommended it with vitamin B6 and I found it somewhat helpful (if only to get a full nights sleep without vommiting!)
Zofran... it is expensive but good. Try Maxalon but you may find it helps with the vommiting but not the nausea.
Try and sleep as much as possible. I am better the more rest I have had. Also try and get some fresh air and sunlight each day (my DH set up a hamock in our yard and I sleep in it with a blanket).
In terms of food, I found lime cordial, lemonade and manderines all helpful.
I hope you feel better soon. It sucks!!

Hi Gals, I don't have a pregnacy with twins but am preggie for the 4th time with aweful morning sickness - although at 18 weeks seem to be coming out the other side.
Things I have found to help
sea sickness bands that go on wrists _ the elasticated type _ from chemist
accupuncture
hydrolyte icy poles from chemist - absolutely lived on them, only thing i could keep down for weeks.
forcing self to eat EVERY HOUR! would often gag while eating but seemd to help afterwards.
hope this helps somewhat. with DD1 i was hospitalised and put on cortisone, but she was born with dreadful asthma and so I haven't taken it for the rest. good luck, it is awful and will hopefully pass, try and take each day at a time.

My twin pregnancy gave me horrendous all day sickness.
Have you gone to your GP? If it is impacting on your day to day functioning they may gave you maxolon.
I found none of the usual remedies that everyone suggested worked and in the end maxolon was the only thing that stopped me from vomitting, but I still had all the symptons of being sick. It provides some relief.

Hi lissy66, I really feel for you. MS is terrible. Some things that helped for me or that I tried:
- maxalon
- ginger tablets - had to be very strong ones (I had Travelcalm if I remember), so I took 2 a day although my specialist said to take 3. She said it was not harmful for baby, but do check with your doctor.
- I would sip on water in glass filled to brim with ice cubes. The maccas coke freeze drink was good when I didn't have access to that.
I remember I was 6 weeks and feeling miserable. 9 months stretched endlessly and I was very very depressed, upset and miserable. I didn't think I could cope but things improved around 18 weeks. So do hang in there. The baby is very much worth it in the end (not that it helps you now I know).

Hopefully it will pass sooner rather than later.
I had horrible MS up to about 6 months, vomitting and nausea all day and night.
I found that Maxalon worked for me and also one of the herbal ones (was specifically for morning sickness, sorry can't remeber the brand). Would take the herbal first if it was just a day at home, but if I had to go to work or be out for the day I would take both.
I lived on vegemite sandwiches and frozen coke, not very nutritous but it stayed down most of the time.
I too had PND, was exhausted and then was told I had GD, so couldn't have the frozen coke anymore not happy

.
Also had a 3 year old to care for as well, DH cooked most of the time and the house was a mess, but just neded to get through that phase and things started to improve.
No magical cure from me but hope it passes soon.

My SIL takes Zofran, doesn't have vomiting but has severe, all day nausea. It's been a god send for her.
If I were you, I would get to a doc ASAP for help with this, as the thought of nine months of feeling like this would really mess with my mental health... They might try you on Maxalon first. For some people, this also decreases their nausea.
Zofran is incredibly expensive, I think it's about $20 for 4 or 5 tablets? (but correct me if I'm wrong here). If you do end up getting it, it's worth ringing around the different chemists as there can be a huge difference in price.

When I was taking Zofran 3 years ago it was $80 for 4 wafers! Depending on how bad you are you might need a full one a day so $20 a day. I would hope its come down in price. If you have private health insurance you can claim some back and with Medibank private you get bonus money which accumulates which covered nearly all our costs (used it from 10 weeks to the day she was born).
It was non PBS at the time and I believe it hasn't changed since.
ETA - I only had a singleton pregnancy but vomitted over 20 times a day and had the most horrendous nausea. The zofran helped by taking the edge off.
Frozen drinks helped as well. EG. frozen raspberry and the frozen fruit drinks you get from gloria jeans. I used to constantly suck on those, after taking the zofran so i could keep them down.

I took Maxalon for all of my pregnancies, ginger didn't work and it got to the point where the smell would make me vomit, the seasickness bands made a small difference, B12 did nothing, OB wasn't at all keen to prescribe Zofran until second trimester (although I understand that many do).
Maxalon stopped the worst of the vomitting but the best thing was acupuncture. Once I stared acupuncture my energy levels were much higher and the nausea only got really bad when I got tired. Between the two things I could function OK for most of the day (very regular small snacks helped) then collapse on the couch in the evening.
If you're in E/SE Melb I can recommend an acupuncture person, PM me.

I feel for you!!! You don't really understand how bad it can be unless you've been through it.
Maxolon worked for me. Still nauseous all the time but controlled the vomiting somewhat.
I lived on vegemite sandwiches. Eating every two hours regardless of if I was hungry helped after 14 weeks or so. Before that nothing really helped.
I couldn't touch fruit at all it was instant vomiting for me. Used to put dinner on for hubby then go stand outside so I couldn't smell it cooking. I drove with a bucket on my lap and always had a towel under my arm in case.
By 18 weeks was MUCH better and all gone by 24 weeks. My sister used the wafers with her morning sickness. My other sister lived on salt and vinegar chips.
Hope you are feeling better soon!

thanks so much for all your replys. we live in middle of nowhere so accupuncture not an option or anything great like that but have given up with blackmores morning sickness tablets cause they do nothing for me. but found that barocca helps bit. ginger makes me gag, but i really find hugest thing is rest. the days that my toddler are at daycare and i can rest 4 little bit tend 2 be much betta then ones that dont. looks like cutting down work is only option 4 moment. not great financially but whats alternative. n now everyone said about frozen drinks i could kill for one hahaha.
oh well, still dont think i am anywhere as bad as was for first pregnancy. just harder cause he's running round too. haha thanks everyone and hope everyone in same boat starts feeling betta soon too xxx
