Hi All

Just wonder for those who may have had a c/s with a singleton/s and twins if there were any differences to be aware of.

I've had 2 c/s with my other kids so I've got some understanding of the procedure but am just curious about differneces this time around. I realise that it will take longer but anything else?

There was no great difference for me in the way my C-Sections happened. The only major difference was the multitude of people that were needed in the theatre fro when I had the twins C-section. LOL Though it made for great photos as their were Midwives standing around & hands free for my camera...

The time involved isn't even much more TBH. My second twin was out within a minute of the first one (admittedly he had issues which made them hurry but it still wouldn't have been much longer). It is the cutting and stitching that take time so not a lot different.

It is more of a circus in the room with twins though as you get more people per baby.

i went from an emergency c/sec with DD to 'elective' with the twins, so there were lots of differences, but if you've already had an elective, I suppose it will be much the same, except you get 2 for 1!!

As pp mentioned just a lot more people in the theatre - amount of time was the same as twin 2 came out 2 mins after twin 1...The difference with my twin c/s v my singleton was i had a post partum hemerrage (sp/) when i was back in recovery - my boys were both 3+ kilos and my uterus just woudnt contract back. I did end up needing a blood transfusion - not to scare you just giving you the difference...dont think its that common though

With my 1st c/section for the twins (36 + 3 weeks) they took the babies away for around an hour into special care to warm them up so that wasn't nice. We half expected this to happen again at the c/section of our little guy but we were very pleasantly surprised when we were able to keep him with us - literally on my chest wrapped up until we got back to the room then they stripped him off and put him on my chest Mind you he was over 9 pound so I suppose he had enough covering!

We are now expecting twins again in about 4 weeks and who knows what will happen in the operating room?? What I did find really supportive and helpful was that my husband was asked, with our twins, if he would like to go with them to the nursery or stay with me after the c/section and he stayed with me in post op - this really helped as I would have been very lonely!!!
