Hi All

Just wondering if people could recommend a breastfeeding pillow but it needs to be suitable for :
a shortie - I'm just 5'3",
large boobs a D normally so bigger when feeding, which have no perk to speak of so they are low pendulam shaped
am about a size 18/20ish but carry the weight in my tummy, thighs and hips.

Yep I'm a dream package LOL biggrin.gif

I breastfeed DS and DD1 and I want to feed the girls who are set to arrive in 4 weeks so I need to get sorted. I used a triangle pillow for both singletons with variations as I feed them in different holds but I'm thinking I need somthing more this time.

I would like to tandem feed as if the twins are like the others they'll feed for about 40 minutes plus in the beginning so I won't ever stop if I feed one at a time.

I was considering the EZ 2 feed inflatable as I could then take it to friends or my Mum's which I'll be at regularly.

I also want to take it to the hospital so I can get use to it while I've got help with the feeding.

Peoples suggestions are very much needed as I'm just not sure.
I'll also post this in breastfeeding but I thought twin/multiple Mum's would be the experts.

Thanks
Kate

I'm tall, so may not be the best person to give advice, but I had the EZ 2 Nurse pillow and it didn't work for me at all...although that may have been because of the fact I'm tall. I found myself in awkward positions and kind of slumped down to get the babies at the right height, plus because it's inflatable and has a bit of give, the babies tended to slide down my side. (Mind you, my boys were not good feeders at didn't ever get the hand of it...)

The best pillow I ever used was the one they had at a lactation consultant's I went to. I was firm foam and totally encircled your back. Can't remember the name of them but they are the ones sold by the Multiple Births Association here in QLD. They're not cheap to buy but they do hire them as well. If we'd managed to get everything working (the boys couldn't suck because they had exceptionally high palates) I would have invested in one of those. The boys felt much more secure on that.

Good luck! I managed to feed DS1 to 15 months without any issues, but didn't do so well with my twins, only because they couldn't suck! I would've loved to have tandem fed long term, but it just wasn't to be, I'm afraid.

I'm rather round too and I couldn't use the inflatable or the other wrap around pillows. I used a boomerang pillow across the front and used other pillows around the side. i used a combination of normal bed pillows, lounge pillow, towels, about 6 or so and managed to be able to feed hands free. I still use the combination and they are 20months now. As the babies grew I used different pillows in different ways to build up the pillows so the babies were level with the breast.

I have seen this one which looks pretty good
Easy peasy
I had this one outdoor baby
I am only 5'5 and not a size 10! LOL Plus I had FF/G breasts when feeding. ohmy.gif I still put pillows under the feeding cushion though to keep it up to the height needed

Given a choice I would have taken the ez2nurse one but in foam. The incline would have made me feel more secure that the babies were aleays leaning intowards my body

OP, my vital statistics are just about the same as yours- lucky us, huh? biggrin.gif I use the Fertile Mind twin feeding pillow. TBH, I couldn't get the hang of it for the first three months and thought I had wasted my $$$ but I suddenly worked it out and have used it ever since. I think we're about to stop as it is fairly narrow and the girls are starting to fall off it!

Hi Kate

I initially used the foam one from MBA but found as the boys grew it became a little unstable, particularly on the side where the velcro attached. I then purchased an EZ2 nurse inflatable and for the first week I absolutely hated it! It wasn't as wide as it looked online and I honestly thought that the boys would fall off. But after my initial disappointment wore off and I got used to it I loved it and used it until DS1 weaned himself at just over 12 months. I'm quite tall so my issue was having to stack it up with pillows underneath so the the boys were at the right level.

I have a spare that I'm happy to send to you to give it a try if you would like. It sprung a leak but my DH repaired it and it still inflates perfectly. It will give you a chance to try it out first before you shell out any money. If you are interested, PM me your address and I will send to you.

I've also heard that Clark rubber have a foam template for a twin feeding pillow that is supposed to be fairly good. I guess you could always purchase a foam block and then cut it out to suit your body shape.

cheers

The multiple birth coordinator had a stack at hospital, so I was able to try them out whilst I was there. It is definitely worth asking about, you don't want to spend $$ then realise it doesn't work for you. I'm glad I didn't buy one beforehand, because I didn't end up breastfeeding as the boys had issues.

Just to add to what the poster above me said, I was told Clark rubber will cut it out to suit you.

I have two different breastfeeding pillows at the ready (thanks to some lovely and generous EB members!) but I really have no idea if either or both of them will work for the three of us. I am happy to use pillows etc if that works better. Basically whatever works is good!! I am tall with B cup boobs (for now!!) so I figured that a purpose designed pillow would work better while they are little.

Hi Kate

Ive been successfully tandem feeding my boys for 5 months using the "outdoor" pillow that daisy goat listed...the midwives at the hospital told me that it was too hard and wouldnt work due to my tummy still being big post-surgery, but i have found it to be fine....to be honest though...i couldnt tandem for the first 6 weeks as the babies were too hard to attach, little and sleepy and felt like they were sucking on popper straws..OUCH...but once they got a bit bigger at 6-7 week'ish and could attach better i have been tandem feeding them ever since using this pillow...i do have quite a few cushions behind me and also two pillows on each side of me that the tandem pillow sits on to make it the correct height....it's hard work at first but does get easier....

HTH - all the best with your twins
