Yep - that's about it. my bestest girlfriend is having twins via a surrogate (after many, many years of trying themselves) and i want to buy her a fantastic baby shower present and have no idea where to start or what would be helpful, handy or just plain lovely. i have two little girls of my own but was wondering if there are any gifts you think might help an overwhelmed but ectastic new mum of twins. any ideas would be warmly welcomed.
thanks,
mad madam mim

i think something just for her and not for the babies would be nice.
otherwise you can never have too many clothes, nappies, bibs etc, or maybe a nice photo frame, or if you want to spend big a voucher for her to use when shes got the time to get some pro shots taken of her girls.

I'm not a twin mum but I have a family friend who is (they are 6weeks now) and just recently 10 of her friends set up a roster for 10days straight of not having to cook dinner (they all made a family sized dinner for her, her hubby and 2yo) and dropped it to her fresh each afternoon.. I know she really appreciated it as the twins have been tag teaming at night and not allowing much time for sleep! So maybe you could organise something like that for her?
Otherwise I'd do what PP has suggested and get a voucher of some sort (photo shoot voucher would be great!)

Has she chosen names yet? If she has, I would get something personalised.
I once had a beautiful cushion cover made with my friends sons name on it. Theres lots of things you could have made.
Not that I have any experience with twins, but Im guessing she will need double of alot of things, so some nice cot quilt sets would be nice. You can never have too much bedding

You could always have names embroidered on them too

What about a voucher for a session with a professional photographer - who could not want dozens of baby twin pictures????!!!!

If by surrogate I guess chances are she will be bottlefeeding? If so, I would get her a
http://www.milkinaminute.com/shopping-cart...ormula-machine/I swear, that thing would be the best thing if bottlefeeding from the start - so easy and especially good for winter when even I - the hard ass never going to warm bottles, warms bottles. For a new sleep deprived Mum of twins, I would covert that.

a house cleaner
groceries delivered to the house
meals cooked
they would have been the things i would have loved - i had enough clothes etc, took enough pictures of my own of them - something practical based would be the way to go for me - if she's using cloth a nappy service would be great as well.

You could have a look at twin websites like thinktwins they have good ideas for twin things that are nice [but practical] at the same time..... some things we have loved for our boys have been....
-rockers, -playmats, -bumbos [absolute saviours when bubs cant sit up... but you can take them for a change of scenery.... eg to the kitchen so you can get stuff done] -a freezer full of meals would have been heaven!
i guess everyone is different in what they think of as a nice pressie..... you know your friend well. my tip for twins is practical but nice. have a look at some twin gift sites and you might get some good ideas.
try to think long term for present as it seemed for us everyone gave us things for newborns. good luck on your hunt for the best pressie ever!

the personalised gift is a great idea. My friend from UK bough a comfort blanket with a toy attached personalised and it was the best gift we received because my twins both are totally attached to their blankies. They can't be without it...it provides them comfort, help sooth them through teething. It's so cute and I love that they are personalised with their names on it.
I would never think of buying something like that.
I have also bought a couple of things from mooo.com.au ...they have cute personalised clothing, bags, lunch boxes etc
baby stuff i don't know. personally i don't recommend it. i am quite fussy..especially with clothes and stuff and as much as I appreciate gifts, if i don't like it, it may not get used much. we received loads of gifts and a lot of things hardly got used. my twins never wore socks or shoes until 12mths+ and we got loads of them as gifts, hats, mittens..never really used it..maybe the first 2 weeks they were born. Bibs..my twins bibs are all brand practically brand new...they are clean eaters and rarely dribble (but ds1 was opposite and we went through loads of bibs with him).
people should just do gift registries.....yes it may occur to some ppl but at least you know u r buying something they want/need and will like.
