Sorry if this topic has been done before - a search came up with nothing.
I am 15 weeks with #4 and have had shocking morning sickness this time. I popped out much earlier and feel big. This is probably all because it is #4 and I'm older but I can't shake the concern that maybe they missed a little person at u/s!
I had to have a 6wk u/s for suspected ectopic, and only one heartbeat was detected. The 12 week scan only showed one baby as well, and I know they are pretty thorough, so I would like to think Im "safe". No twins in the family, but I am 35 and know increased age can increase possibility of twins.
I have heard a few stories about missed twins at early ultrasounds but these are examples from years ago. Surely it doesn't happen now?!!
Naturally we would deal with the news if we were told twins (my DH would LOVE it!) but I feel I will be at my limit with 4, so to hear there is a 5 would be shocking to say the least.
Any stories?

in an earlier ultrasound sure they could miss one, but at the 12wk ultrasound im sure they would have seen if there was an extra bub in there. there was no way you could miss mine at my 6wk or 12wk ultrasound.
also my morning sickness was horrid with my singleton and i had absolutely none with my twins, so i wouldnt factor that into anything.

I am still really new to this twin thing but I had early scan due to previous ectopic pregnancy and at 5wk 3 days only one sac was picked up (but looking back at the scans the last film has one pic with two sacs) Had another scan at 6wks 5days and very clearly saw two sacs then. I have had another scan at 8wks and still clearly saw too. I have my next scan at 12wks next week.
My friend had IVF and two put in. She had all the early scans and showed one but at 8wks the sonographer thought they may have saw two. She had another scan at 12wks which saw only one, then had some bleeding at 16wks and they found the second twin at 16wks. (She had boy/girl and they are 5.5yo now)

I didnt have a 12 week ultrasound because we were travelling overseas.
I had my first ultrasound at 19 weeks and found out it was twins then.
I did pop out a bit earlier but not so much that we thought it was twins
But no, i didnt have an earlier scan where they were missed

I had a scan at 16 weeks and the sonographer had no idea there where twins until I mentioned it well into the scan. I'm 99.9% certain had I not mentioned it, he would never have known.
He had no idea what I was on about when I asked where the other one was.

My cousin had twins at her 12 week scan and they discovered a triplet at the 19 week scan that they had missed.
My twins were obvious at 10 and 12 weeks but I was given a questionable post birth report that indicated there could have been a miscarriage of a triplet

I'm 35wks and still can't shake the twin feeling.... So strange. Never felt like this in my previous pregnancies. I know there is only 1 in there but still have this feeling...

A work colleague of mine didn't find out until she was 20wks.
She had had extra scans due to previous losses & being an IVF pregnancy, but until she went in for her gender scan, she only thought she was having one. That was until the sonographer left & brought another sonographer in & sure enough, there was #2 hiding.
The twins turned 2 a few weeks ago.

Yes me.
This was in 2001 and early routine ultrasounds weren't offered back then so my first ultrasound wasn't til 20 weeks and to say we were shocked is an understatement.

I'm a 28yr twin so just thought I'd throw this story in here.. because I think my Mum is amazing for getting through this.
My mum did not find out she was having twins until we were born. I came out, there was no placenta, then the doctor said 'there's another one coming...'
I'm now a mum and I don't know how she got over it.
