I love to read ... anything and everything is a pretty good idea to what I like .. J K Rowling, Jodi Picoult, Nicholas Sparks, Mary Higgins Clark, Etc.

I have always read the books before the movies have come out - mainly because these are my all time favourite authors and I have read the books when I was at school 8 yrs ago and then the second any new ones are released.

Anyway I am usually left dissattisfied after watching a movie that was originally a book. I dont like all the things that get left out and usually it just isnt how I pictured it to be IYKWIM

Fast forward to last year and my husband and I decided to go on a date together... We didnt have any movie in particular we wanted to see so my husband suggested seeing what this Twilight movie was all about. This was honestly the first time I had ever even heard of it. 5 Minutes into the movie and I was glaring at him ... What the heck did you take me to see this for?? Well when we walked out of that theatre I knew I was a Twi-Hard. I was even complaining to my husband that he never put me on his back and climbed through the trees with me (sad, i know)

I immediatley went out and brought the book and devoured it within two days ... I couldnt believe how much self control I had not to go and get the new moon book and find out what happens next.

I think I enjoyed this more than I usually would as I got to enjoy the movie and not be complaining that it wasnt up to scratch. This is the first series I havent complained about either book or movie and I am stoked !

So now I have watched new moon about 10 times (3 times at the movies in the first week rolleyes.gif ) and read and re-read the first two books until I know off by heart what has happened.

So now its time for your help ... there are only two weeks to go until eclipse the movie comes out and I stupidly bought the book from BIG W yesterday as it was only $15 .. now it is beconning me from where it lies on the bookcase and I am using all my stregth not to go and pick it up !

Ahhhh why do I have to be so lame ? cool.gif

heather124
i would totally read it if I were you biggrin.gif

heather124
sorry biggrin.gif I hate watching movies before I read the book so there is no way I could resist!
~floss~
I know ... its the suspense thats killing me .. I would be so disappointed with myself though if I give up now ! I need to be strong ...

Lets talk about the weather instead biggrin.gif

Oh read it dev (6).gif It's sooo good!

New Moon and Eclipse are my favorite books in the series. I've lost count of the number of times that I've read each of them rolleyes.gif
~floss~
Noooo !! And you have Taylor as your pic !! Why are you all doing this !!!! ha ha ha

New moon was great but seeing the trailers for eclipse is spinning me out and I just want to know now !!

But I am going to be strong ... I have to be strong ..... I will make my DH hide the book from me because I dont think I can be that strong bbaby.gif
Riotproof
Eclipse is the best book in the series. Read it. You know you want to.
baby-bliss2
I have held out on this whole Twilight phenomena for SO long. Bad reviews etc and it honestly did not appeal to me.

However, I borrowed it from a friend last week and read it in a night. It was GOOD, suprisingly.

Then I bought the movie and once I had finished watching it all I could say to DH was "No wonder people watch this movie and bag out Twilight". It's entirely different and they leave out (what I think) are crucial parts to the plot.

I have read New Moon and I am honestly in no hurry to see the movie. My mind seems to make up better theatrical trailers than the movie producers hehe.

So IMO I reckon you should read the book. That way you get the whole picture and the whole story instead of being left in the dark with a lot of things.

But that's just my opinion hehe =)
~floss~
Okay how about if I get 50 people to tell me to read it I will do it ?? biggrin.gif

By my count I think there are only three of you weakening my resolve so far - so hopefully there are a few out there who admire my courage and are willing to say no ??

anyone ?? huh.gif

ETA: OK 4 of you .... DAMN original.gif Does anyone AGREE with me .... Anyone ??
nano
You have to read it rolleyes.gif Its the best book biggrin.gif
gizboo
Just read it!! lol
It's my fave book in the series too!
(btw, I can't believe you call yourself a twihard and haven't read all the books!!! lol)
*Kayla*
Ok, I'm sorry but how are you waiting!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

READ IT!!!!!!!!!

It's the best off all 4 books!!!!

I looooooove it!!

Ok, that's enough!!!
~floss~
I am a Twihard because I am utterly obsessed. I stay awake at night it is that bad bbaby.gif I dont think you need to read all four to become a Twihard .. it is in your blood rolleyes.gif

I have read the first two over and over again ... I am back to number one to stop myself from going to number three .... I just keep repeating 1 & 2 until July 1st !

Your all terrible ... your supposed to tell me it sucks and I can do it ... not that it is the best and I am missing out .. I thought us Twihards are meant to stick together ?? cool.gif

I re-read Eclipse last week to get me in the mood for the movie!

~Nodnol~

sealeys
READ IT!!!! It's the best of the lot of them!!!!
~mimo~
IMO leave the book on the shelf!! (Or get hubby to hide it lol).

See the movie first then you will have so much more to enjoy reading the book!!
~mimo~
Agggg sorry!
~mimo~
Don't know what happened lol!
Rubybelle
Read it! (are we up to 50 yet?)

I like Eclipse, am currenly re-listening to it as an audiobook (have read it on paper too).
And then see the movie and enjoy it for what it is - I'm sure, like the others, it will be based on the book, but will not recreate the book experience.
I've enjoyed the first two movies, I think because I didn't expect them to be just like the book.

Warning: hints coming up, but no spoilers!

Eclipse has some really good stuff (backstory) that fleshes out the twilight world, and by the look of the movie trailer it expands a bit more on stuff outside the immediate world of Forks. I'm tempted to say more about why I like it, but that would be mean - you need to read it biggrin.gif

Looking forward to the movie here too... though no one wants to see it with me, might wait till I have a day off and go see it on my own - I did this with New Moon, went to the first morning session, Gold Class, enjoyed it immensly!

Borders in Perth did a big celebration in store the other weekend as a promo for Eclipse. It made the papers and everything ... because just ONE person showed up for it roll2.gif
Madeline's Mum
I LOVE the books - I read them all in 5 days (I barely slept; Must. Finish. Book.) and I’m sorry but I really loathe the movies.

Kristen Stewart is SO bad and even Robert Pat is shocking - they do an appalling job at portraying the love between Bella and Edward! They pull so much out that people who haven’t read the books struggle to know what’s going on – they are just BAD BAD BAD!

Read the book and boycott the move I say!!!
MahnaMahna
Read it dev (6).gif

No Twi-hard I know would be able to have the book in their possession and not read Tounge1.gif

Cathode - It wasn't for Eclipse, it was for the release of the new "The short second life of Bree Tanner book" laughing2.gif they had so much food, drinks and staff on for it!

Ah, I knew it was something related to it... I nearly fell over laughing when I saw it in the paper laughing2.gif
Apologies to all the twihards tongue.gif
Melissa4444
Eclipse is the best of the 4 books (though Midnight Sun is better than all of them). The movies are crap. I watch them (and am going to see Eclipse at midnight) because my girlfriends are taking me, but the books are far better.

Seriously, I can't believe you didn't read all 4 books once you'd read Twilight.
NoNoBoo
I much prefer to read a book before I see the movie (currently reading The Time Traveler's Wife so I can watch the movie soon) so I am another vote for read it. It was my favourite of the four, too.

Agree...I have seen better acting from Ben Affleck and James Woods laughing2.gif
The only one out of the '3' that can act is that Taylor Lautner ... and even then, he wasn't enough to keep me awake through New Moon. I literally fell asleep.

I didn't *mind* the books, but the movies are sh*t awful.
The Cat's Me-Wow
Read it.

And I thought I saw the Bree Tanner novella in the shops ages ago. Why is there a big thing about it just being released?

Don't try and read a book of Sookie Stackhouse before watching a season of TrueBlood ... they really are both stand alones and only vaguely related (but both are oh so worth it).

PERTH'S biggest bookstore was nursing its vampire wounds yesterday after its launch party for the latest installment in the Twilight series attracted just one die-hard fan.

Mel I so agree with this. I thought it was fantastic. I would love her to write the entire series again from his perspective. The detail and his and his families reactions and thought processes are so fascinating. I hope she finishes it soon and releases it.

Cathode Have you watched ep 1 of season 3 of true blood yet? Sooooo good!

I was actually a little disappointed, but I do know that it was to be that way as there was such a long break and a LOAD of hype leading up to it with all the taste of true blood, in productions and waiting sucks promos.

I think it is going to take till episode 3 to get right into the swing. And cheers to seeing more naked Eric!

Highlight of the episode really original.gif

I didn't have to wait long and didn't read/see much hype so maybe that made a difference for me. I didn't start watching the series at all til this year so only finished season 2 about a month before season 3 started.

As much as I love romance in my tv shows I was quite happy to not have much of Bill in this episode!

Oooooh, I LOVE TrueBlood and have never read the books. Will have to give them a go now!

READ IT!

I am a huge fan of Twilight, love the books and the movies, however the movies DO pale in comparison to the books, and with the condensing of scenes and from the book, as well as adding in new ones (as they have done in the previous two movies) to fit it into 2 and a half hours, you would be disappointed if you saw the movie then read the book.

I don't know how you are resisting the urge!!
~floss~
ha ha you guys are no help at all !!

I think I am going to stay strong ... the only reason I am not reading it is because I dont want to be disappointed with the movie ... (I am a huge Taylor fan ...shhh dont tell my husband wink.gif ) And I have been really looking forward to the movie since New Moon came out. I dont think I would have lasted any longer but they are getting the movies out quite quickly - not like harry potter - so the wait isnt as bad ....

Hey!

I watched Twilight 1 year ago to see what all the hype was about. I hired it from civic. Well, that day... I watched it 4 times, returned the video and bought my own copy and went and bought the book. 2 days later I bought the other 3!

Eclipse is fantastic! I know you will love it. I can see where you are coming from, wanting to see the movie first so you are not let down when the movie does not follow bits from the book. Because most of the time, books are better than the movie. Because I loved Twilight SO much. Helped me forget pain I was feeling from my personal life. When I saw New Moon I was a little disappointed as I'd already read the book and compared a bit.

To occupy you, have you read Midnight Sun the first 12 chapters? Midnight Sun is Twilight but in Edward's point of view. It is very good. Great even. The reason why only 12 chapters were released is because someone Stephenie Meyer trusted leaked it and she was so upset so did not publish it, but released the first 12 chapters on her website. Stephenie Meyer's Website

Also, I recommend reading the Sookie Stackhouse series. I love it! The first book is called 'Dead Until Dark. There are 10 books so far.

So, what are you going to do when the final book is released at cinemas? (Breaking Dawn) As it is being spilt into two movies! Are you going to wait for about 2 years from now until both have been released to read it?! LOL.
~Panda~
Opps! Just read back and realised that ladies had already discussed Sookie Stackhouse and Midnight Sun. My bad! But both are great!!!!

I love True Blood and the Sookie Stackhouse series as they bring different things, but if I had to choose I would choose the books for sure. I love love LOVE Eric in both the books (especially book 3 and 4) and in the series!

Hi Panda,

Thank you for understanding ... it was making it very hard to stay away with everyone egging me on rolleyes.gif

I will go and have a look at Midnight Sun now ... I didnt know it was just twilight as I dont want to read anything on twilight in case it gives away the endings of the last two books sad.gif

Hopefully it doesnt take too long for breaking dawn to come out ... they have to rush the movies as Edward and team arent supposed to age, so hopefully it isnt too long ... i will just occupy myself with reading and re-reading the first few books ( i am re-reading Twilight now to contain my edward, bella, jacob obsession biggrin.gif )
~Panda~
Floss - Breaking Dawn Part 1 is not out until mid November 2011. So it is quite awhile off. I am assuming they would bring out part 2 5-6 months later? And yep, Midnight Sun is just Twilight. So not spoilers. It is great reading Twilight from Edward's view. You see what happened when Bella is not around and what he is thinking. Let me know what you think.
ally4281
Oh you gotta read it! Book and movie lover here!
~floss~
I am reading Midnight Sun now on Stephanie Meyers Website and it is great !! I am at work and I should be leaving in 20 minutes and I should go home and go to bed before my DS wakes for a feed, but I now have the sudden urge to stay up and read the whole thing rolleyes.gif

Who needs sleep if your a twihard happy.gif
MahnaMahna
Good idea to read Midnight Sun :0 It is fantastic! I am itching for her to finish it and publish it already!

If I had it in hard copy I would read it many times but being on a computer is annoying.
71Cath
Midnight Sun is my favourite blush.gif - Stephenie Meyer should definitely finish it and they should make that into a movie
Alina0210
Read the book.... WAY WAY WAY better than the movie (im assuming.. as they cant fit everything in)
mumtogplusone
read it!!!

can't believe that you haven't read it yet!!
