Morning Girls.
Had an awesome day yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed the expo though nothing new really compared to last year. Was good checking out all the nappies but dissaponting really. They're all exactly the same. Aimed at the new mummies. Nothing different or original. Well except one girl sunshine tots. Got a lovely big shaggy nappy from her. And seriously...OSFA nappies... on a newborn... thats ok if you get a big 9 or 10 pounder but a 6pound bub in a osfa.....thay'd come up to their armpits even snapped in at the front. Misleading if u ask me to new mummies thinking about cloth. It must be off putting seeing that enormous nappy. Just my opinion though.
No real dedicated night nappies...insert sad face... most businesses just rec boosting up the nappies I already have. Except for ittis. They rec their bittiboos but didn't have them at the expo ... hmmm ... frustrating. Anyway... ordered one when I got home. I definitely don't like that they're mass produced in China one bit but think they're one of the lovliest nappies I've felt or seen in awhile. I liked the whole velour thing....very lushious. Anyone using any bitti boos???
Got to chat with Hamish from Green Beans for nearly an hour. That man is so knowledgable I felt so lucky to be able to chat fabric & nappies with him for so long. Best of all...he liked my nappies design!! Gave me some really good tips & direction in the big nappy world.
So I milked my day out yesterday. I didn't get home till after 7pm...kekekekekeke... love it. The kids were a total right off though, they really can't live without their mumma bear for long. CR was losing the plot. I just put her to bed...she needed it. She'll be fresh again this morning & we'll have an easy day together.

Wow thats a big post....and a me one at that.

Enjoy your day girls.
Small Potatoes
Quick one from me

Nat Glad you liked the expo. I am off to there today.

Bec i had a dream you had your baby last night rolleyes.gif . If you come to the expo I am working at the Miessence Stand
bec8112
Nat- sounds like your day was great! I am no help on the night nappies because Ethan is wetting through mist nights in his Genesa Forge super super trim nights! I even put him in a disposeable last night because I was sick of washing his pj's, sleeping bag and sheets!!!! I might have to admit defeat and use a disposeable at night! Did you want to try one of his night ones on CR?

No baby news or activity here!

Got to go, ethan's having a meltdown because I am not watching him eat his breaky!
themelster
Have fun at the expo today mands.

Sorry I missed you yesterday nat. I'm glad you had a good time at the expo - doesn't look like you would have fitted me in anyway! I like the feel of the bitty boo's too. What cover do you have to go over the top?

Bec - Tom usually only ever has an hour 15 mins nap during the day!

Kathryn - Tom used to always turn his spoon over, but he's pretty good at it now.

Me - I'm about to go tile shopping with a small child. Heaven help me!!!!!
bec8112
Good luck tile shopping Mel. I am sure you will be fine! Keep tom amused with some food!

Ethan is an eating machine at the moment, eating so much and wanting food all day! He goes to our pantry and grabs out food to bring to us to give him! He is also having an extra half serve of food with his dinner and a big glass of milk! Must be growing or something!

I bought some second hand Nic Nap nappies and I just put one on Ethan an I like the fit! Even though it's Velcro ( Ethan does not open them so we are ok with them) it's really trim and easy to put on! I have some smalls on the way for bub so looking forward to getting those!

Just need this baby to make it's entrance so we can show off all it's nappies!

meeskamouska
Thanks for the offer on trying out a night nappy Bec.
Mel - I think I might just use any old cover I have here. Might even just use a d'lish cover. Shame to cover up all that velour, it is just for sleeping in though...LOL. May boost it with a microfibre insert. Can't wait for it to come in the mail...fluffy mail....nice!!
Fabulous
Nat- I guess it's like anything in life OSFA isn't going to be as good as something aimed at a more specific size. For night nappies I have KK's, sandmans and a zada nappy although I haven't used them in ages and will probably never use them again. The KK's were by far my faves. Sadly I think Robyn from possum pouches has stopped making nappies They worked for us but I just can't be fagged. I always put fleecey pants or woollies over my kids night nappies (even the AIO's) so if there was a bit of a leak it wouldn't pass through to the bedding.

Bec- sounds like Ethan is a good eater. My kids that were good eaters as babies are still like that as school kids and vice versus. Good eaters can cost $$, lol.

Annika- DD2 came home from school today and told me that she wanted to go to Harvey to see the big orange. original.gif Apparently the teacher had told them about it. Have you been to the apple park at Donnybrook?

Us- that photo wasn't of Chelsea. The photostream belongs to the lovely lady who knitted Chelsea's rainbow dress. She has a business on Ozebaby.
spersephone
I wish I had persevered with cloth nappies. I had the problem you described Nat, trying to use a One Size Fits All nappy on a 2.8 kilo newborn. It was hopeless! I wasn't going to buy a heap of tiny nappies that she'd grow out of really quickly, I had stocked myself up with ones that should last the distance. We had such trouble with them and a few horrific accidents and I just gave up!

I know it's no excuse and I'm really pleased that there are people using them successfully!
bec8112
Nat - PM me your address if you want to try out one of the night nappies. I will not be offended if you don't want to try it.

I just had a chai latte and banana bread with a friend and it was so yummy! Was nice to get out if the house too!

Dave is working again this morning! He has been working lots lately to get overtime money which will be good to help with me being off work! I really need to think of a way to make some money at home!

Ros - yeah I agree with good eaters costing money but I would rather that than the non eater! I gave a friend with a 9 year old son who is a terrible eater and they battle with it everyday!

I have some Dragonfly magik OSFM nappies and they look like a good size for a bub. They are a great fit on Ethan too. I have BG but they would be huge on a small baby!
~Annika~
ph34r.gif

Having the whole house to myself this morning, yay!!!! Can't remember the last time this happened! Already thoroughly enjoying it and it's only been 30 min since DH and the boys drove off. I insisted on staying home by myself as I was inspired by you Nat, so thanking you for that!! tongue.gif
themelster
Bec - you have the perfect child!! Great eater, great sleeper! I hope #2 foows in her big brothers footsteps! Tom is going through a really good phase at the moment. He's slept through every night for the last 8-9 days and he's eating really well. I just hands.gif it continues.

Nat - I went to mathilda's markets this morning. They'd be great for your stuff. Heaps of people there too.

Annika - I hope your time alone was great. There is nothing I like better than having the house to myself!

Hi everyone else!

Does any else's kid push things around the house? Trolley, chairs, toybox. Drives me crazy!

Off to buy a potty this afternoon I think. Wishful thinking really. Do I just get a bog standard potty?

meeskamouska
Mel - CR drives me crazy pushing chairs atound the house. Matilda markets are great. I love them. You have to apply to trade at each market they have. Its very competetive. I have aplied for the August market & will find out when I get back from Bali. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath.

Mands - Can u help me with identifying some inigredients...I know your good with this sort of thing. Have googled but still don't understand properly...LOL ...I need plain english.
What is a water soluble plant extract???? Is that an oil that dissolves in water....like say tee tree??
And... what is a plant based surfectant???? Is this a liquid soap base???? Can u rec one????? Give me a name????

Afternoon girls. Everyone sounds like they r having a nice relaxed day. Anyone heading out tonight???
bec8112
Mel - yeah we just have the cheapest potty there was, plastic with no fancy stuff! Does the job in my opinion. How was tile shopping? Yeah Ethan pushes everything around the house too!

Went to the expo and did not buy much at all! Chatted with Mands a few times and she gave me lots of samples! Thanks Mands!

All the cloth nappy stalls were packed and the disposable ones were quiet! Good too see the cloth getting their names out there.
meeskamouska
Mands - got the plant extract sorted but still stuck with a plant derived surfectant.

Evening all,

Had a wonderful lazy Saturday. original.gif Got up at 8am, lazed about till we set up the tent to air it out. Visited our next door neighbours and Cameron played with Lexi (she's a few weeks younger than Cameron) then bought supplies to make Cannelloni for dinner. Which was very yummy, Cameron wasn't so much of a fan. original.gif
Cameron definitely seems a lot better today so think the ab's are working. original.gif Cameron had another four weet-bix for breakfast. ohmy.gif
Tomorrow going out to lunch with some friends which will be lovely. Haven't seen them since the beginning of the year. original.gif

Bec- That's great there were more people at the cloth nappy stalls. Wonderful to see. original.gif It's great you got out of the house. When Cameron was born it took forever for him to fit into his cloth nappies. Hope your bub doesn't have that worry. original.gif Adam (DH) is the same about work, tries to get in as much as he can cos I don't work as much as I used to. Wow Ethan is eating heaps, yeah your probably right a sign of a growth spurt. original.gif Cameron is a one nap a day kid too. That's great Ethan feeds himself, wish Cameron would turn the spoon up the right way, oh well he'll learn lol.

Nat- We were invited out to dinner but made it lunch tomorrow instead. Didn't want to take Cameron out in the cold when he's sick. Sounds like you had a fabulous time, and very productive!! Oh that's so sweet that CR wanted you so much. original.gif

Mel- Cameron has an interesting way of pushing things around. He's a bum scooter and grabs what he wants and drags it along. So funny to watch lol. I've been thinking about buying Cameron a potty too, but don't know what sort to get. Seems like there's so many varieties. Great there's hope for Cameron yet. original.gif

Annika- Wow home on your own it does sound like bliss!! biggrin.gif

Hi everyone else biggrin.gif
Small Potatoes
Nat Plant based surfactants are really hard to find. Soap wart or yucca juice are great plant based surfactants but I am yet to find any in australia. I will let you know if I do.

http://www.aussiesoapsupplies.com.au/. They sell castile soap which is a gentle SLS and paraben free soap and the http://www.hippyheavennaturalbeauty.net/ are great sites to get that from. I am assuming you are making some stuff?

bec8112
I just woke up with some painful tightening so fingers crossed it might mean something! Will keep you all updated if it's anything. Also got a slight blood tinge on paper (sorry if TMI ).

bec8112
Double post! Damn iPhone Internet!
bec8112
Triple post!!!!!!
Fabulous
Bec- ooooh that sounds exciting. Are you 39 weeks today?

Kathryn- 4 weetbix is good. Jack has 1 each morning, hoping to get him to eat 2 soon.

Mel- yeah we have a little person who pushes stuff around too.

Nat- when are you off to Bali? I was tempted by the recent Asia Airlines sale with $58 tickets between Jan and May next year but decided to save DH's leave for a bigger trip. How I would love to be sitting on a Balinese beach at this moment rather than sitting here in my fluffy dressing gown in a cold house.

I might try out the local market here this morning. We have only been living here for 1 month so haven't gotten round to it. We are very close to the beach here so will probably take the kids down to build sandcastles. The house directly behind us backs onto the beach with only a bike path between it and the sand dunes.
bec8112
Yeah 39 weeks today.

Well I think it's it because contractions coming regularly! Got DP's mum on the way so we can go to the hospital.
Fabulous
Good Luck Bec. You can do it. original.gif
1kathryn
Good luck Bec biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Ceres- Yeah both Adam and I are happy Cameron is eating plenty of weet-bix. He did another four this morning! Have fun at the markets. So jealous you are so close to the beach, it will be unreal when it gets warmer!!!

themelster
Go Bec!!!! My go I am SO excited for you! Take your iPhone to the hospital so you can update us between contractions! Haha!

Ros - very very jealous of you living so close to the beach. I bet it is a beautiful beach too!
spersephone
Good luck Bec! biggrin.gif
Fabulous
Yeah it's a really beautiful swimming beach too. After our holiday to America I really appreciate the beautiful beaches we have in Aus. Most of the beaches we visited on the east coast of the USA had big signs saying No trespassing. Local residents only. I mean WTF? It's pretty cheap (for a beach side area) where we are renting though. You can buy a nice house on this street for $600K because we are about 60 km's from the Perth CBD. There is development pretty much all the way though. When we buy our new house we won't be anywhere near the beach
Small Potatoes
Good luck Bec
themelster
No word on Bec????!!!!

Hey nat, when do you go to Bali? And whereabouts are you staying? I'm looking into it for august next year.

Your in my thoughts Bec. Hope all is going well!

Had a lovely day out for lunch with some friends today, gorgeous weather!
Bought Cameron his first pair of shoes. He screamed when we put them on at the shops, but he's not too bad now. Must find it very difficult to walk in them. original.gif
bec8112
Bub born at 4.45pm today, I got a bad tear so had surgery but all is good with mum and bub! 3.44kg and 48cms! Now for the all important name! Hannah Victoria.
