Stephenie Meyer has put her novella about Bree Tanner (the newborn vampire in Eclipse) on her website for the next month so we can all read it for free. You can't download it or print it, just read it online. Is anyone else reading it, or am I the only tragic?

Interesting...... I liked the ending, I think I will buy it to add to my collection. :-)

I've read it online.
Thought it was kind of pointless?!? And very rushed.
I understand she was just trying to get the other sides perspective... but ?? I don't know where I'm going with it. Was unimpressed at any rate.

Just read it tonight after seeing this thread - I'd just finished eclipse so it all seemed to fit nicely. I'm disappointed she died

and while I enjoyed hearing of some new vampires I'm just wondering if any more is mentioned of them in Breaking Dawn? Or is this paving way for a different series?

Thanks for letting us know!! I am a ridiculously big twilight fan and was looking at this in Target the other day wondering if it was worth buying, glad I can read it for free to find out!!!
And to PP manlou4, without giving anything away, these vampires are never mentioned in Breaking Dawn, so it must be paving the way to something new. BTW you will LOVE breaking dawn, I sure do lol!

I bought it at Big W on Saturday for $12, and read it in 1 day. I really loved it (but I love all things Twilight

)
Counting the days until I see Eclipse - I have tickets to the midnight screening!

I liked it, it was great to see different perspective but completely agree that the writing in the last 20 pages was atrociously rushed...it reminded me of a high school essay paper when you just can't be bothered writing anymore so you finish it. Was a shame because it could have been great.

My question is, if she (Stephenie Meyer) will write this book, why wont she finish Midnight Sun?????

Because she got her knickers in a knot about the book being leaked and now doesnt want to finish it, I think it she is being a selfish prat by not finishing it, its out there already, people love it and want more, you have gazillions off the fans so show some respect and finish the damn thing already!

Completely agree Blueberry Twist. I actually prefer it (just!) to Twilight, and the fact that she wont finish it just feels like one great big tanty to me! It can't be that hard!

It was just announced that Breaking Dawn will be a 2 part movie with the first at the cinemas in November 2011

so I reckon once the 2nd part of the movie is released they will use Midnight Sun to drag it all a bit longer so my guess is maybe 2013?

I just finished reading it and I feel the same way. I love all things Twilight but this was kind of 'meh...'

Was better than I expected...
Did you read in the prelims that she also has half finished Diego and Freaky Fred novellas? Hopefully written from a different point in time...

I was under the impression that The Short Life of Bree Tanner was written quite awhile ago, before Twilight and New Moon as she wrote Eclipse first but went back and wrote Twilight and New Moon to lead you to Eclipse. So she didn't actually write Bree recently (answering the question to why she wouldn't finish Midnight Sun) she just polished it (perhaps that's why the last part seems rushed).
I agree though about her needing to get over her hissy fit and finish Midnight Sun already! I really enjoyed it.

Ooh that's great to know! I was wondering what happens to Fred. He kinda had me intrigued...

I thought we were to assume that Diego died?
And yep, I heard that Midnight Sun wasn't finished because of her tanty over it being leaked.

Just finished listening to "Short Life of Bree Tanner" as an audiobook... and liked it!
Although it was a bit short and I didn't like the ending much, I liked the way she didn't make all the new vampires perfect, and gave more of a sense of what it is like to be newborn (she hasn't really done this in the other books).
So, my review... surprisingly better than I expected!
