Hi,
Hope it is all right to ask this question here. I need to get my SIL a birthday present. She likes reading.
She has read all the Jodi Picoult, Lesley Pearse, Paullina Simons, Maeve Binchy and Margaret Leroy (hope I spelt them right) books. Can someone please suggest another author similar to these styles of writing.
Thanks

I'll second Joy Dettman and Barbara Kingsolver, esp Poisonwood Bible (her last one, The Lacuna, didn't grab me as much!)

I was coming in to say Joy Dettman! She's wonderful (there's a new one out but haven't read it yet). I also like Jodi Piccoult, Paullina Simons and Maeve Binchy so our tastes are obviously somewhat similar.
I also enjoy Margaret Atwood (the Handwives Tale and Oryx and Crake are favourites) not such a similar style but I loved them. Alice Sebold (The lovely Bones- same as the movie), Haruki Murakami for something different again- I was surprised I liked these but I really, really did.
