Hi,

I absolutely hate my front loader!

Today I am ready to throw it out the door lol if I could lift it biggrin.gif

I am washing sheets/blankets etc and it gets to the spin cycle and keeps going uneven, Its not jammed packed at all. The problem is that you cant open it to even up the load at all and if I turn it off it will want to do the whole cycle again from the start which takes 1.5 hours!

I just switched it off and evened up the load and put on just the spin cycle but still no luck!

Any advise on how I can get around this would be greatly appreciated biggrin.gif

also, while i am here, I thought front loaders were supposed to be gentle on clothes, once things are dry, they are always hard, I use good quality wash liquid, dry inside on the clothes rack and have also tried using fabric softener. We have a new house so its all connected to the water tank do you think this water is the problem? Cant switch to cold tap water as its only connected to the hotwater

TIA
Kristl
Oh no I have had this problem before! Maybe try washing the blanket separate as it might be too heavy for it so spin

Also do you know that a quick wash is perfectly fine for hardly soiled clothes? When I bought mine the salesman told me you only need to wash clothes on the really long cycle if you were a mechanic or something with oil stained clothes

I miss my top loader OP but we have these machines nopw so we have to make do.

As for the uneven thing when setting the machine up it pays to be pedantic with a spirit level to make sure the machine is sitting exactly level. ......even doing that we found improvement after putting a rubber mat under the machine ......the type you can buy from Harvey Norman that fits between washer and dryer when the two are stacked.

As for the hard clothes .......we found that our machine requires even less than the recommended dose of washing liquid ...........we were using a fabric softener but the wise ladies of EB have said that it clogs up the machines and gives cause for requiring a service ......we've since been using vinegar which isn't as effective but is better than nothing !

So try less washing liquid/powder and vinegar instead of fabric softener ..........and I always use the extra rinse option.

Great advise girls thanks!

I love the quick cycle but dont use it much as I thought it wasnt washing things properly, will have to use that more often biggrin.gif

Ahh I see, so it might even be my washing machine that is not level, will try the less washing liquid too and vinegar

Hi, also check your spin speed.

I find that if i do a super fast spin 1400RPM the clothes come out stiff.

On a good washing day (ie sun and a good wind) I spin on a slower speed. On days when I know they will need time in the dryer or on the clotehs rack after being on the line I do a super spin.

The super spin cuts down on drying time.

I don't have any ideas about the stopping problem as I have never had this issue with my machine as it is an Asko and the drum is suspended in a way that it moves quite freely. IYKWIM.

Ditto using less washing liquid. I am currently using Hurricane for front loaders. It suggestes that I use 1 1/2 caps but if I use 1/2 I have to do a second rinse. I use about 30mls for each load.

it definitely sounds like the machine is a little uneven and that's why it's stopping.

I also agree, slow down the spin cycle to about 900-1000, that should make a difference to the clothes being so hard. Shaking them out as you hang them can also help to loosen the fibres up a bit so they aren't as hard.

Choice did a study on washing powders and found that with alll brands you can use less than they say, up to half with some brands is still just as effective.

For sheets/towels I use 600 as the spin speed or our machine clunks and walks across the laundry laughing2.gif

I actually love my front loader Tounge1.gif

If I am washing anything thats heavy when wet, blankets, towels, jeans I lower the spin speed. I also only ever use the quick wash cycle. I have never had a problem with unclean clothes, but I do use a stain remover spray on stains I see.

I will have to get the machine leveled as I do get noisy spins when I forget to lower the spin speed, I didn't think of that, so thanks for letting me know original.gif
