GOLD

hope everyone is having a good long weekend.

Another bad night again here. I don't know what is going on. shrug.gif

meeskamouska
Mel - no good with Toms sleeping. Is he cutting his eye teeth??? Just thinking. With the ex phone thing. Paul has been caught as well. Its tough to know whats acceptable & whats not. Me personally I don't like that sort of stuff. I too hope he's putting in as much effort.

Ros - my goats..... they're fun I know that. But a little bit of work. We only have 2 but the male one leads the girl astray. He gets out & encourages her too as well. She'd be content to stay put on her own. I think were parting with him on the weekend & only goig to keep the girl. We call her peppa. Shes a very sweet goat. I can nearly pat her. Its taken ahile for her to warm to us cause the boy keeps his distance.
We have lots of farm type animals. Theyre fun.
themelster
Nat, I don't like that kind of thing either. Although saying that, I did stay with him after that. I don't think anyone can say "if that happened to me, I'd leave" until they are put in that situation. So many variables and emotions involved.

No, no eye teeth. He has everything bar his 2yo molars. Who knows what is up with him.
meeskamouska
Its a tough call Mel cause its not like he had sex with someone else but somehow it stills feels like a violation or somehow just not right. Anyway. Were moving forward with it but its one of those things that just never leaves your mind. So unfair cause were all able to do such a thing but I would never do that to him. sad.gif

Got a perfect SS nappy made today. I've made 4 in total...lol. I'll use them all but I'm happy with my last one 100%. Waiting for CR to wake up so I can try it on her. Its very pretty. Will try to take a pic but wont promise I'm a shocker for doing that type of thing.
meeskamouska
hmmm...see if this works

woops...too big.

Try again

LOL Nat! I can just make out that it is a nappy! Haha. Is it a floral print?? Pocket or AI2?
bec8112
Hi All! Sorry been busy all morning!

Concert last night was just awesome! I am so glad we went, it was a great night out for Dave and I. Got home about 11.45pm and then I was buggered! Bub was kicking up a storm during the concert and I had so many BH! I was slightly uncomfortable towards the end and had to keep moving so sure I was annoying everyone around me ohmy.gif

Nat - from what I can see that nappy looks great, you will have to make me one for the new bub! I need to order a cute dress off you aswell!

Mel - that is no good about another rough night, is he sick or getting sick?
themelster
I knew she would be good Bec! As for Tom - no idea. He doesn't have a fever or anything so who knows.
meeskamouska
LMAO...... a photographer I'm not!! Its a lovely nappy. Pretty rosey floral print. Side snap cover only. I just put homemade bamboo sookers I fold like an itti soaker. Works a treat. Shes had it on all afternoon. hehehehehe...still laughing at my photography.

Still holiday planning. Would you take a toddler (our babes age) & a 6 yr old to Thailand????? Or do u think Bali more suitable??? Was thinking Bali but now my sister is talking Thailand as she & my Mum have been to Bali already. What to do.......... I want to get clothes made to start my business at the same time. Any thoughts?????

Bec - funny how babies react to the load music like that. Must of either loved it or was protesting!!
themelster
I'll be back after bath bed etc to write more but I day thailand. I am majorly biased though. I see Thailand as my second home. I love it and miss it so much.
themelster
Ok.I would say Thailand in a glasg. Beautiful people, beautiful food, beautiful scenery, easy to travel around, cheap and the list goes on. I haven't been to Bali though so I can't compare. You would need to be pretty careful with CR's food is the only thing. Although the same would be true of Bali I would think.
themelster
Sorry, double post.
Fabulous
Nat- I'm considering taking the hubby and kids to Thailand later this year. I have to do a bit of research first though. I have got the travel bug something bad now, lol. I'm also planning on taking them to the UK late next year if finances and annual leave are okay.
meeskamouska
Mel - would I be able to get babies clothes made there if that is where I want to head???? Can you rec an area that you liked. Hope u don't mind if I pick your brain. Food - after getting sick in India I'm paranoid now about food. In that said though... my sister..... eats everything.... never gets sick....what the!!!!

Up early. I went to bed really early last night so therefore woke up early. Was feeling a little fatigued last night so I needed a big sleep. I've been using a PMS essential oil to help me relax & sleep & its been working a treat.

Ros -after I went to India I had the travel bug too. Its like you yearn to go again. Bit excited about this trip. The plan is to go with my Mum & sister. Theres alot of planning & alot of differing opinions on where to go....lol.... I wouldn't expect anything else from my family.

Easy day here. Bella is back to school today. Will catch up on some washing & housework I think.
Alis Volat Propiis
Nat - I have been to both Bali and Thailand and probably have very different opinions than alot of people. Bali was the second place I had ever been to OS and we went in 1999 so a long time ago. We just did the usual tourist tour, Kuta etc. The hotel was nice and clean, walk to the beach. Lots of shopping and restaurants. We did a few tours we organised ourselves but mostly just relaxed. Thailand, Dan and I went to in 2007 and honestly, I really didnt like it. I add to this that I have been to Egypt, Turkey, Malaysia, Peru (as well as most of Europe, Nth America, Sth America) and am quite used to travelling in countries where language/culture/environment/people are very different. I cannot tell you exactly why I didnt like it. We spent 4 days in Bangkok and couldnt get out of there fast enough. It was Nov so very hot and sticky. But I found it to be one of the dirtiest cities I had ever been too, and smelly! We flew down to Phuket and spent the remaining 8 days on Koh Phi Phi which is a tiny island off the coast. That was great! I would hesitate to take N to either but I am in super cautious mummy mode most days now (just me) so am not sure what to recommend. Perhaps ask on the boards in the travel section. I am sure you will get famiiies that have been there recently. A holiday would be fantastic!

Hi everyone else!

Work day for me. Gotta go wake N.

Love to you all.

Sharna
Fabulous
I remember years ago my travel agent strongly advised me to not spend anytime in Bangkok. She said it was awful.
themelster
I agree, Bangkok really divides people. It is a love it or hate it kind of place. I love it, but that is just me. It is dirty, smelly, bustling, poor, rich, ugly, beautiful, touristy and bursting with culture all at the same time. I love riding the river boat, the golden palace, a tasty pad gra pow in some tiny back alley restaurant!

I have to admit when you said you thought of going to Thailand, Bangkok wasn't the first place that sprung to mind. I guess I just assumed the southern beach district as that is where most people think of when they think of Thailand. I would take Tom to Bangkok, but only because I know it well so I know where to go and where to avoid. I probably wouldn't recommend Bangkok otherwise. Unless you stayed at a nice hotel (there are plenty of those) and did day trips with the hotel. It would cost you more but you would be able to see the sights in a day or two and not have the stress of finding places yourself and tackling the public transport system. Although if you got a hotel near the skytrain, it really is just as easy (if not easier) than travelling the tube in London.

BUT I would probably recommend the southern beach area for a family holiday. I haven't been to Koh Phi Phi (where Sharna mentioned) but have heard it is very beautiful. I have also heard that these days is is quite a party island though.

You can get some lovely hotels (and pretty cheap packages) in Phuket too. Again I haven't been here, so can't recommed it based on fact but alot of people go there for a family holiday. I think it has a seedy side so you would need to research your area. It is also quite touristy (which could be a good or bad thing).

My personal recommendation would be Koh Samui on the East Coast. It is a mid sized island (if you rented a jeep yoiu could drive around it in about an hour and a half - not sure they'd supply kiddy seats though!!!). It pretty much has everything you might want. Party and shopping central at Chaweng Beach where you can get everything from baby clothes to bongs. Lamai, which used to be the home of the infamous "girly bars" but has recently cleaned up it's image a bit and has some really nice upmarket resorts and a lovely beach. Chong Mon, home to lots of upmarket resorts (the boathouse resort is one) and is very very quiet (and expensive!) and then there is Bophut which is my favourite. It has a real fishing village feel to it, is home to the best restaurants on the island (starfish and coffee is one of them - the BEST food ever!) and some ok shopping (you'll want to head to Chaweng for your shopping - don't stay there though!). The only downside is that the water on this side of the island is not as clear as elsewhere. The beach is still ok, sand, not mud flats or anthing, but the water is a bit silty as it drops straight off as it is in the chanel between Koh Samui and Koh Phan-gan. Most resorts have pools though. My favourite is "THE LODGE", google it. Nice, clean, simple, well kept rooms with ocean views right on the beach for about $60 a night (well, it was - might have gone up a bit). Only down side - no pool.

There are plenty of nice spots though. Don't hesitate to pick my brain.
Small Potatoes
I was thinking everyone is quiet today, but of course new thread original.gif

Nat What about Fiji or pacific island. Most are super kid friendly and relatively easy to get to.

AFM I have been really run down. Have another sty and another staph infection on my belly (I know a sty is a staph infection). Didn't get to see my naturopath before he went o/s as he had a family emergency but I SOS'd him yesterday and he has come back with a couple of recommendations so will be trying that and hopefully will see some results soon.

I am also going to the UK for about 10 days in October/ November. DH has leave and my sister and her partner (he is british) will be over there so I am going to go and visit them while DH is home with the kids for 10-14 days dev (6).gif . Just give him a little taste of what I do ALL the time. He has gone again. Should be home next Tuesday as long as the volcano in Iceland behaves itself. he was telling me there is one guy who had the longest f/o (first officer) trip on record. He went singapore, london back to singapore and got turned around and had to go back to london instead of coming home. He then got stuck there for 7 days due to the volcano. it was like a 22 day trip or something.

Going to have some SOL bread and watch a DVD as the boys are at kindy.

Forgot to mention Olly is almost walking. He is pushing himself up and taking between 7 and 12 steps and when he falls down he pushes himself up and tries again. Crawling is still the preferred method of transport though.

bec8112
Sorry busy today so will not be in much! i am not liking work today, would like some time to myself!
Small Potatoes
Bec When do you start mat leave?

meeskamouska
Thankyou girls for all your wonderful thoughts on Bali & Thailand. Now we have to decide. Told the family a decision needs to b made by weekend out. I'm a planner & want to get started. All very exciting.

Mands - Maybe some R&R is in order. Our bodies are amazing machine how they let us know when something isn't right. Did u end up getting that smell thing sorted??

Wanted to say more but its gone now.

BBL
oh...I remember now....... Sharna - your ticker says 90 days to go.......so close when it starts to say day count down.
bec8112
Have not decided on when to finish work but a rough guide I am planning is starting leave on 31st May, so only 4 weeks left!
meeskamouska
Hi Bec - I see you reading. I hope your day goes quickly for you.
bec8112
Hi Nat! Yeah I am on my lunch break so reading here and NA, how boring am I.

themelster
Hmmmmm NA. I don't think I'll be on there for a while!! I received quite a flaming - perhaps rightly so. I'm going to steer clear of there though! I did receive my $80 back though, so it was worth it. I hope the other ladies get their nappies / money back also.
themelster
Mands - I meant to say "GO OLIVER!". I was just thinking if he was walking the other night.
Small Potatoes
Mel Did you get nasty PMs, because I followed the BBH co-op thread and didn't think you got a flamming at all. I thought you were well spoken and kept your cool. Katie the one at the end of the thread with the two girls (one red head) in the sig was the girl I was talking about.

themelster
Not in that thread - there is another thread in the general section where she posted that she wasn't going to be around for a while as her son was sick (this happened literally ten minutes after I'd posted my gripes in her co-op post and emailed her to say no more games and that I wanted my money.....).

Things got a little out of control there and I still feel strongly that it was all a load of rubbish about her boy.
themelster
And all the PM's I got (and there were about 5) were very supportive. Mainly from other women who had been ripped off by her in the past.
Small Potatoes
I might have to check out the other thread original.gif
themelster
Happy reading!

I'll admit I could have been more diplomatic in my original post on that thread, but by that time I was so fed up with her and so convinced it was a load of BS so she could delay returning my money again.
Small Potatoes
Yeah Mel, you probably could have been a little more diplomatic. It will blow over. I wouldn't be surprised if she exagerrated the situation abit either. She just seems - not dodgey - but there is something a little odd about it all.

ETA: It is extremely hard to convey tone over the WWW and many people seem to lean towards -ve contations, so what may have been an undiplomatic but relatively harmless comment often gets blown WAY out of proportion.

meeskamouska
I don't think u were out of line at all Mel...I think she was. If u didn't say anything I don't believe u would of got your money. The only reason she's not going to be on there anymore/for awhile is because she wants to crawl under a rock & hide away from it all. Her behaviour is wrong. I'm certain there were happy customers but what about the others....they matter too.
Tight knit forums....blerrrrrrrr!!!!!
bec8112
Mel - yeah I agree with everyone else. It will blow over. The tight knit group thing happens everywhere!

Mands- yeah on Olly walking! So exciting!

All this talk about holidays is making me jealous cause I don't think we will be able to go away for awhile. Too hard with a baby and toddler and no not enough money :-(
bec8112
Mel - just read you had a bad night so big hugs for you! Tom just not sleeping very well?

Mands - just read about O and the A&E visit, how is he going now? Ethan loves playing on the bed and he is crazy when he is up there and it makes my heart stop when he goes near the edge! No idea how I am going to cope when we buy him his own big bed.

How is everyone else?
Small Potatoes
Our exciting evening. Olly and Will were playing on the bed while I was folding laundry and you know how boys can be. They were restling and Will shoved him a little too hard and Olly fell of the bed and hit his head on the bed side on the way down. He screamed blue frigging murder and within seconds a big egg had formed on his forehead. Well I freaked and rushed the boys down to A&E where Olly was given some panadol and a clean bill of health and sent home. So all is okay.

bec8112
Mands - so glad all is ok! Question for you - did you hear back from the Rockin Green laundry powder supplier? Are you going to stock it? I was interested in trying some but will wait if you are going to stock it biggrin.gif
Small Potatoes
I was just thinking about it yesterday. They said they had forwarded my details to the Australian distributor, but that was the last I heard. I will contact them again.

bec8112
Cool Mands keep me updated.
bec8112
Just bought a M/L Sugarshot off NA, it is nice but still not sure if it will be ok on Ethan or too girlie. Will have to save for bub if I think its too girlie!
Fabulous
I just had a squiz and I think that nappy will look great on a boy, Bec. original.gif Jack has been in disposables ever since we got back from our holiday. I just can't be bothered with the washing. With 7 people in our family I'm already doing an insane amount of washing without adding nappies to the mix.
bec8112
Ros - yeah I would hate to be doing all that washing and then nappies too!
bec8112
Morning all!

I am just waiting up at the hospital for my appointment! Ethan is asleep, he is miserable with a cough and runny nose!
Fabulous
Bec- I hope your appointment goes well.

I just read a hilarious thread in the relationship section. biggrin.gif Maybe I just have a crude mind!
bec8112
Appointment was all good, still measuring big so going for a scan next Fri to see what is going on and hopefully make my decision about birth. On a bad note bub is still head up so maybe another breech one???

Ros - was it the small penis one?
Fabulous
Bec- did Ethan measure big like this bub?

Yeah it was that thread. Now I just can't get the visual imagery of 3 inches out of my head. blink.gif Stupid darn thread. laugh.gif
bec8112
Yeah Ethan measured big with the fundal height measurement they do. I never really had scans to check size though but they always said he was a nice big baby.
themelster
Hi ladies, just a quick one from me as I am going to watch Masterchef and then get an early night as Tom's sleep is still SH*T!!!! He has been in the spare room with either Mark or or every night except one this week. Nightmare.

Mands, I hope Oliver is all better after his fall.

Bec - glad the appointment went well. Bummer the bubba is still head up. I had a look at that SS print nappy. GORGEOUS. I've got another fatty cakes coming tomorrow and then that is me done. No more nappies. I've got plenty and it is crazy to be buying more when hopefully he will be toilet trained in a years time. And I've decided no more babies. I don't think my marriage would last the distance. This sleep deprivation is really testing it to it's limits!
