I am after some book recommendations for my 6yo dd. She is reading at the 24+ level at school but has become bored and disheartened with the home readers. She is borrowing chapter books from the library instead to do her daily reading but tbh she isn't completely inspired by those either.
She has read almost all the Magic ballerina series and the colour fairy series of books. I bought her the Clarice Bean collection but tbh I think the themes are a little old for her even though the reading level is probably about right. She has finished the Tashi books as well.
So can anyone recommend some other books that you think she may enjoy and that will respark her interest in reading?

How about some Enid Blyton eg The Enchanted Wood/Faraway Tree, Wishing Chair, Secret Seven. I used to love them at that age.
I'm not too sure what is around for girls these days as I only have boys.

My DD1 who is 7 ( Grade Two) 2is past the levels now and onto chapter books. Her favourite chapter books are the Girls Rock series at the moment. She has also just found a stash of my old books, including the Nimbin which she is loving as well.

If she likes the Lauren Child illustrations, she might enjoy Pippi Longstockings, which could lead into other Astrid books like Lotta Says no, etc.
Louisa's prerequisite is that there is humour, so she's also reading a lot of my Paul Jennings books: Unreal, Unbelievable, etc. (These are the ones that Round the Twist series on ABC3 are based on (as old as the hills, but she still likes it). These look long, but are set out in chapters that are pretty much a short story per chapter, so easy to dip in and out of.
Roald Dahl books are great too. Louisa got Fantastic Mr Fox at Easter time and has read it several times, so now borrowing other Dahl books from the library.
Need to run off and do school pick up, but I'll come back with more suggestions.
ETA Louisa just pointed out two more books she likes:
Henrietta by Martine Murray and
Clementine by Sara Pennypacker
Also, has she read Charlotte's Web?!
Oh yes, and second the Enid Blyton recommendations. The Amelia Jane books, The Faraway Tree books, Storytime Book, etc. She loves them all.
And agree with the Pearlie the Fairy books too!
And lastly, not stories as such, but my local Woolies is stocking
Far Out Brussel Sprout and the others in the series at the moment. Just humourous collections of rhymes. Lou thinks they're hilarious!

Thanks for the great ideas everyone. I have read her a lot of Enid Blyton over the last few years but for some reason she doesn't seem to keen to read it independently.
She loves all the Pearlie the park fairy ones and Pippi Longstocking is already a favourite too. I bought her the Lauren Child Princess and the Pea but once again she prefers me to read it to her.
But a big thanks again for all the suggestions. I will make a list and head off to the library. I might even be lazy and get some from the book depository if they are cheap.
What do you think about 'A series of Unfortunate events'?
I have the whole collection of these from my older son but I don't think he was reading them until he was a bit older and tbh I am too lazy to read them myself first to see if they are appropiate for a 6yo.

How about broadening her reading material to reference books and/or magazines?
My 5.5 year old can't read properly yet, but her favourite books are reference books at the moment - horses in particular. She can pick out bits and pieces, and I read the rest to her. It's funny because I also remember reading reference books on horses when I was a child
I told her when she can read I will buy her a magazine, one of those ones that come with something sparkly at the newsagency

There are typically short stories in those, as well as things to do.
I can't wait until she can read Enid Blyton!

I loved the Faraway tree at that age.
My 7 year old DS is reading Geronimo Stilton books, and as the PP said he is right into magazines, Top Gear, Dirt Bike, Two wheeler, and he loves reference books, anything about science & nature, aircraft and the army. not suggesting these for your DD but just as an example

can you tell he is mad on motorbikes and joining the army?

Second most of those already suggested.
A couple more
Go Girl (check the story line, most are fine for this age)
Fairy Realm series by Emily Rodda
Ramona series by Beverly Cleary
Magic School Bus
EJ 12 books (can't remember who writes them, they are a girl's Zac Power, DD loves them)
Lots of horsey and animal books out there such as Saddle Club (there is a junior version), Pony Pals, Molly's Magic, Puppy Place
They may be a little easy but there are some great Aussie Nibbles books for girls.
Emily Eyefinger by Duncan Ball (DD loved these)
Bonnie and Sam books by Alison Lester (and these)

MY 7 year old in the last couple of months has read the first 7 Rainbow Magic Fairies, the first 5 Pony Pals and a couple of Magic Ponies and also read a little of Enid Blyton after I read her some of her short stories.
She also likes to read from our set of Childcraft books.
She has a set of Go Girls but didn't like the one she read that much.

My 8 year old read the series of unfortunate event series a good year ago. He loved them. They might be a bit advanced for your daughter at this stage but in a year or so they could be great.
Have you looked at any of the morris gleitzman or paul jennings books? you need to be careful as the content in some of them is not super appropriate for younger readers but there are a lot of great books by both of them.
My just-turned-8 year old loves the Magic Treehouse books (and has since he got his first one about two years ago), of which there are more than 40. They are by Mary Pope Osbourne.

Sigh ... mine too! Though she has finished it now, so is a Miley expert

. I can blame her father for buying it, but really, I guess that she happily tackled the book, and that is a good thing - it is a bit of a step up from the "basics".

DS (7) is Grade 2 but was assessed as Grade 3 in the first week of school this year. He reads some of the teachers chapter books or his own. He is currently going through a Zac Power boxed set and we have ordered the Captain Underpants set for his.
DD (9) reads any kiddie novel, Pearlie the fairy (as mentioned) and has read her boxed set of Go Girls recently.

Maybe Go Girl or Girlz Rock series? My daughter was in about Year 2 when she read these (she was not a particularly advanced reader). They deal with issues such as friendship and family relationships. Some are probably more suitable than others. I think they might have got more sophisticated as the series has progressed. Otherwise, how about the Ramona books by Beverly Cleary or else Milly Molly Mandy by Joyce Lancaster Brisley? UK writer Jacqueline WIlson has some great books for younger readers (pre-read these first though as sometimes she can surprise with more challenging themes) Sleepovers is one I remember my daughter enjoying. It is about a girl coming to terms with the embarrassment of having a severely disabled sister and is a really lovely book.
I am currently reading Blinky Bill to my 7yo. He also loves Tashi and the Aussie Nibbles books. My niece who is 8 is wild about Geronimo Stilton at the moment.
Hope that helps.

DD 7 has a few of The Tiara Club books (Orchard Books), there are quite a few of them like in the Rainbow Fairies series.
