Okay...
10 weeks to go, and the girls name is sorted, but just came across Chili in another thread (actually think it was Chilli) and the pp mentioned she knew both a girl and a boy Chilli. So what do you think? Could we do it for a boy? My partner likes Charlie so phonetically it's not so much of a stretch right?

I can't see it as a name, and would have to hope the child wasn't a redhead

I've only seen it as Craig Lowndes' daughters' name. I'm not a fan, Charlie/Charles is lovely. How about Chilli as a nickname?

Sorry, I think its a ridiculous name for a child. A dog or cat maybe, but not a child.

Caspar is a wonderful name. Chili, not so much. I think it's the kind of name that will only suit a certain type of personality too, I can imagine someone adopting the nickname Chili if they had a fiery temperament or an exuberant personality, but a meek and humble Chili would be very strange.

They are simply beautiful people!
ETA - work on her for Caspar/Casper

Great name!

Beachedas I am unsure who Craig Lowndes is (car racing?) but I think that Bill Granger (damn... or is it Pete Evans?) anyway one of the chefebrities has a daughter Chili.
Tickledpink I suspect she is going to give me the same response as you
blondiebear Will you please, please tell her how wonderful Caspar is?
MonstersMama Yay! We agree on something! Charlie is a great name... errr but he's not a monster is he?

Padme Maybe if I throw Chili at her she'll see just how great Caspar really is! And yes, Charlie is great too!
Robbie Yes... redheads are great people, we realised too late that we should have made that a priority for the donor (who incidentally also loves redheads - go figure?). Don't worry, I'm still pushing for Caspar.

Is it just me, or can others see them being taunted with 'oh, you're so hot' all through high school in that nasty 'you're not really' kind of way.
Robbie

lol hermesoon2b get her an EB account and everyone in this thread will send her a random PM about how we just got "a feeling" about the name Casper for her DS

(wouldn't be obvious at all, you'd totally get away with it)

He sure is! But it started because he was a booby monster - now he's just your average run-of-the-mill toddler monster

Uh Oh... I already 'run hot' and my friends 17 y/o son gets a great thrill out of reassuring me constantly 'oh yeah... you're hot. You're so hot.' Cheeky B*sta*rd! Maybe you're onto something there!

You may be onto something... she

LOL, definitely not Chilli Miller

We loved lachlan for a boy, but figured he'd get called Lockie which rhymes beautifully with DP's surname so sadly crossed it off the list.

Sorry hermeandsoon2b, I love red hair too but chili just isn't the right shade!
As a name Chili is not in the same ballpark as Caspar IMO. Nowhere in cooee.

That was me who knows a boy and girl/s named Chilli.
I love it but I am a bit biased I guess because my good friends DD is Chilli and she's just beautiful.
The boy Chilli I know is in his second year of highschool now and doesn't have a problem with his name.
I also love Caspar and Caspian.
CaptainOblivious
19/04/2010, 02:30 PM
I like Caspian better than Caspar. Less friendly ghost jokes too... The only Caspian I've ever heard of is Prince Caspian in one of the Narnia books.
hermeandsoon2b
19/04/2010, 05:41 PM
aha! Thanks mummytomany also... lovin' Caspian, didn't even think of THAT!
CaptainOblivious - shame about Lachlan but sometimes the surname thing is just too bit a deal - glad you're loving Caspian too!
oh and Barlow I wouldn't want to be mean... yikes!
Gudrun - i'm guessing that means Caspar is still a winner!

Chilli definitely a nickname.
Casper NMS but not horrible, although I'd spell it Casper and not Caspar, because after reading that I have 'Rock the Casbah' stuck in my head, as that is how I'd pronounce it
hermeandsoon2b
19/04/2010, 06:04 PM
Ha!
Crankybee - that seems to be the consensus
AbsolutCara - damn you and the 'Rock the Casbah' ref... now it's in my head too! I don't know why I prefer Caspar over Casper but I think I could go either way. If I can get rid of the song

, hmmm.

Straight away I thought of Chili Palmer, John Travolta's character in Be Cool and Get Shorty - awesome movies and he is a very cool character, so I like it

But I like the uncommon names - I would never pick Charlie.
Caspian is a nice compromise - kinda sounds like capsicum so the chili theme isn't completely lost!
