woho! great news Ali!

I've just been down the street to look at buttons for A to do up on some felt... thought I may get some beads as well to thread.... this is inner sydney so I shouldnt be too surprised, but Ialmost chocked when the 1st large, round, plastic button I picked up was $9.75! for 1 button... gosh. I am button out of touch! I think I will look on ebay or something. maybe go to lincraft...!

Mel - I picked some up the other day from spotlight, about $12ish for a bag of them, either birhgt colours or black and white. N likes to throw them around the place though so they have been put away for a while.
melaniejasmin
yes, the throwing.... we would have that problem too I think..... happy.gif
I was thinking of the buttons because they couldnt be thrown (as already sewn on to one piece of fabric).

laughing2.gif They are nice and big a colourful though and could be used for threading later on if so desired and too big to be choked on as well.

Ali My thoughts are with you and your mum. Like Mel, we had a similar journey with breast cancer 6 years ago now with my mum. It was aggressive but they got it quickly and thankfully it did not spread and she has been in remission ever since. So I understand some of the emotions involved sad.gif

Key Yes the home schooling is going well. We are pretty much unschooling so it's very casual. The first 4 weeks were highly stressful and horrible but since then it's been pretty smooth!! She's doing much better emotionally. She has been going to youth group for the social side which has been great and did a camp over the last school holidays which also went fantastic. We signed her up in gymnastics this week and oh my that was a headache as we had all the same behaviour with anxieties over socialising since she knew no one. I am hoping it'll settle in a few weeks as she gets to know the girls as we've had a shocking few days over that 1 hr session of gymnastics wacko.gif

Milly's down for a sleep, she did 3 hrs yesterday which was fantastic ... she's been down for 1 hr and 15 mins so far, would be lovely to get another hour at least cool.gif

Ali - how horrid for you and your mum, but glad she is doing well and hope and hands.gif that it is all contained and 'got'

Sharon - I live in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and if you want to come down en masse and stay for a week let me know.

Sarina - Well said. I know I feel safe airing everything in here.

Ali - glad to hear it was some good news about your mum's surgery hhugs.gif I hope she has a smooth recovery.

I have to say that I miss having people to talk to who have kids the same age as DS. He has been a very different personality to DD, and I also don't have the support of my mothers group that I did back then. We have moved areas and while I have met some lovely mums, school and otherwise, its just not the same as the lovely ladies I was friends with back then.

Also, with DD in Yr 1, its a very different day/routine to when she was little. I am glad to have the time with DS, but we will be joining a local playgroup this term. I have figured out I need at least 2 mornings out a week, not just a one on one, but with more kids so he can enjoy them. He seems to be at an age where he is just into everything, and is soooo constant. And that is why I miss this group as our kids are all at the same age/stage.

I do find it hard to keep up with all the chat (funnily, I am rather chatty myself tongue.gif ) and not being on FB, I know I am not as familiar with some of the FB regulars on there (not saying I'm feeling excluded at all, just not on the same websites wink.gif ).

Anyway, enough about my stuff. I know that this is "just" an internet forum, but I know that there has been amazing support, both in this PG and in other areas, and it can be a very valuable resource in general and especially when I'm feeling overwhelmed. Just have to remember to drop in here a bit more wink.gif

Hope you all have lots of sleep and a lovely evening original.gif My DP is just making me a nice peppermint tea wub.gif so I will take myself off now original.gif

Also, I'll have to give tomorrow's meet a miss as we have a playdate here at 9 and I think the weather may be a little wet.
